Chapter 1 A Fresh Start
I let out an irritated sigh as I sit down at the kitchen table.
"Wow, what's wrong? You're not excited for school" My mother asked.
"Well, Yeah, it's just...why do I need to go to school but he doesn't?" I point at my brother.
"Because he's older and going to college next week" my dad comments. "Yeah, I know that it's just...unfair"
"How is it unfair? I worked hard for this, you're just 16, when you're older you get to complain" Micheal said, throwing his pencil at me.
"Just shut up and eat your food, you got 10 minutes to get ready." my mom said, walking into the kitchen.
"Yeah... I know I'll be ready, I just want to go to sleep"
"Tonight you get to sleep, now you got to study" my brother says before going upstairs.
"Can't get here fast enough" I said stuffing my face with breakfast "Stop complaining and eat your breakfast, normally please?" My dad said
After I finish my breakfast I head upstairs and start getting ready. Let's hope for finally some normal friends. If you don't count the weirdos I already know.
Maybe this year I can fall in love, Yeah, nope there's no way. I'm too weird for that.
Hehe...
Gathering all my stuff I head back downstairs where I see my mother, ready to drive me to school.
"Ready to go?" She asks when she sees me walking downstairs.
"Mom? You know I could've taken the bus to school?" I asked "Yeah, I know, and tomorrow you can do that. But today I'm taking you to school.
"Haha.. ok fine, but only today, I can go to school on my own, you know that"
"Yeah, but still let's go"
my mom walked to the car and before going after her I say goodbye to my dad and follow her.
"Good luck, don't do anything stupid" as I turn around I see my brother in the window, waving.
"I'll try" I say back. After that I get in the car and my mom drives me to school.
On the way I look at the bus stop I usually take, it's been a while since my mom brought me to school.

"Do you want me to pick you up?" My mom asks when I got out of the car.
"No mom, I can get home by myself"
"Are you sure I can easily come to get yo-"
"MOM, it's fine, thanks. Now, I gotta go or I'll be late"
"Yeah...I'm sorry, just, be careful okay"
"Yeah..bye mom." I say slowly walking backward

Ok, here we go.
As I walk inside I start to remember last year, meeting all my friends, all the stupid things we did and talked about.
Before I could find anybody I knew, I bumped into someone while thinking about last year.
"I'm sorry" I said, the other person didn't answer, he just walked away. Maybe he's in a hurry.
"HEEEYYY~" I suddenly hear from behind. Before I could see who I feel a heavy weight falling on my back and shoulders.
"Whoah, what are you doing" I complain, trying not to fall down.
"What's up, we missed you" the voice whispered in my ear.
"Woah, okay get off!" I push them off and when I turn around I see my friends standing there, all three of them. The weirdos I hung out with for some reason.
"Dude, how did you get so heavy"
"Hey shut up, you're the one who got weaker" Emily complained.
"You shouldn't just jump on people out of nowhere" Ein said pulling her back. "It's fine, just warn me next time" I reassured her.
Before we could continue talking, the bell rang, calling us to class.
"Uugh...I don't want to " I complained on my way to the room.
"It's not like you can just go home" Daniel said, pushing me forward "you sure, just watch me. I'll be gone in 5minutes" leaning back I put up my hands, almost hitting Daniel in the face.
"Yeah? Well let's just go, it'll be over before you know it" he's said giving me a push. Trying to catch my balance I once again bump into someone. "Oh I'm sorry I-"
"it's okay"
Before I could apologize he was already gone. Wait..? Was that the same guy as this morning?

Before I knew it it was an hour later. The class was just simple introductions, which let me know who I bumped into, twice in a day.
His name was Adam. He didn't seem like a very active person.
After class my friends practically dragged me outside to the nearest table, and they all started talking about the thing they did during summer.
I was lost in thoughts. As soon as I saw him again I couldn't get my eyes off him.
I quickly learned he probably only had one friend, but I can't judge it's only been an hour.
"Hey? Nathan you there?" A slap on my back brought me back. "Oh? Huh? Yeah, just lost in thought is all"
"I know you want to go home, but don't go dozing off when we're talking to you." Daniel said, eating his lunch
"Yeah.. what were you thinking about anyway?" Ein asked "Nothing special ...just someone I ran into this morning" I answered, my eyes trying to find him again
"ooh~ was it a girl?" Emily asked leaning on me. "No, not... a girl" I said.
"Oh ,well then it boring" she said letting go of me. "Anyway, why don't you tell us what you did this summer" she continued
After that we talked for the rest of the day. Classes weren't really interesting so most teachers just let all of us catch up and meet the class.
Nothing important since it was the first day

"Aaahhh~ it's over I can finally go home" I say as I lay over Emily's lap.
"Hey get off, you still have a bus to catch remember." She said pushing me to the ground
"ouch...wait...thats right....uuuughh" I just laid there waiting for this day to end. "Hey get up you're embarrassing. You should just leave you'll be home earlier. We can talk tomorrow"
Ein said picking me off the ground.
"Are you sure?" I asked getting my bag. "Yeah, just go." Daniel told me.
"Okay then! I'll see you tomorrow" I yell while, I run towards the bus stop.
I haven't been here in 3 months. I missed this place, I looked at my phone, 5 more minutes.
Looking around, there are not many people besides me. I decided to just wait.
I heard footsteps but before I could see who it was, they bumped into me. "I-I'm sorry."
As soon as I saw his face I realized it was Adam.
"Woah, that's the third time today, are you okay?" I asked "Yeah, I'm fine just a little nervous about school I guess" he said, not making eye contact.
"My name is Nathan" I said smiling
"why are you telling me that?" He asked confused "Well, we're in the same class, I thought.
Maybe we should get to know each other a bit better, at least know each other's name, right?"
"Well, I guess that right." it went silent after that, a bit awkward "Uhm, what's your name?" I asked looking for a place to land my gaze
"oh... A-Adam" he said again looking at the ground. "nice to meet you!" I smiled.
"I-" before he could say anything the bus stopped next to us, so we got on.
The ride back we didn't talk that much, I did learn a bit about him. I was right about him only having one friend.
We continued to talk until he had to get on a different bus.
"wait, where do you live, that bus goes pretty far" I had to ask.
"Yeah, I live pretty far away, it's fine though, I like the bus" he smiled and walked away.
I got back in my seat, on the way home I kept thinking about it, about him.

"Welcome back~" as I got inside my mom almost jumped on me, I was able to avoid her. "Mom, what are you doing?"
"I just wanted to welcome you back, what I can't do that?" She asked walking back to the living room. "I mean, yeah. But could you maybe warn me next time"
"Sorry, Sorry...". As I walk inside I see the living room I see only my mother, who got back on her spot on the couch, my dad probably wasn't at home yet, and I'm pretty sure my brother was upstairs. So I decided to also go to my room and do some homework
After 4 hours my dad got home and my mom called us down for dinner.
The evening went by quickly after that, nothing special really happened, except for my brother being annoying, but I'm used to that.
But still. I couldn't help but think about what happened today.
