Chapter 14 Caught Again

"What do you mean jealous," he asked confused. "Of you and Rachel. You two are so close, and I guess I want to be that close with you too" I looked back at him, he was smiling slightly, but he also looked a bit worried

"it's fine, we can become closer if you really want to" he realized what he just said and started blush slightly "haha... I mean, yeah." I took a step closer "what are you-"

"listen.." he looked surprised and turned his head up to look me in the eyes. "I'm really happy I met you" he blushed as I continued "at first I thought these feelings were just me being confused, but after what happened at our date last time... I realized I was wrong" I got even closer and took his hands.

"What are you saying," he asked still blushing "I'm saying.. I love you Adam.." his eyes widened and he looked away, I took his head and made him look me in the eyes. I got closer and I kissed him, at first he was surprised, but soon I felt him kiss me back, I let go and looked him in the eyes again, he was bright red. Which made me realize what just happened

'We need to do that more often" I said jokingly, he laughed as he pushed me backward. He walked over to me and blushed "Yeah.." he said quietly. I leaned in closer to look at his face. And he looked me in the eyes again, I tried kissing him again, but just before I could, we heard the door open

"Adam.. are you in the- whoa..what is happening?" It was Rachel. Who was now staring at us, I quickly took a step back and covered my mouth. "R-Rachel. What are you-"

"I came to look form you. but I guess you were busy." She said smirking "I-" "you don't have to explain yourself... well you can do that later." I walked back to my chair and took a seat. Putting my face on the table again "are you kidding me?" I complained. "What do you mean?" She asked.

"Nothing! It's nothing" Adam said Rachel took a seat next to me and Adam sat across from us. My face still in my arms. "So, what exactly just happened," she asked as she put his arm on my shoulders.

"You interrupted us," I said lifting my head up, so my face was visible "Yeah, I know that. Just... want exactly did I interrupt," she asked looking at a blushing Adam. "That-" "none of your business" I interrupted him

"What?" She said looking angry at me "it's something between Adam and me. You don't need to know every single detail of his life, you know" I said getting up. "I didn't say that." She defended

"Rachel.. I'll explain tonight. Please just ignore it for now..." he said smiling at her. "Okay fine, but you better have a good explanation for this," she said as she got up. She walked outside and closed the door.. the mood in the room got awkward again,

I sighed and sat back down "I'm sorry.." Adam shook his head "it's not your fault" he said he looked up and smiled "did you mean all that?" He asked "of course" he smiled and looked down "me too"

When school was over, we went home together. We didn't say much on the way, we just thought about what happened today.

I mean, I said I wanted to get closer, but I kind of want to be even closer. I didn't expect Rachel to actually find out so soon, all of this made me want to tell my mother too, it felt wrong to keep this from her, I don't know how she would react.

I decided to just let it rest, for now, I'll tell her eventually.

Nothing special happened that night, I just got home, ate, and did my homework. After I was done with everything, got upstairs and ready to go to sleep. But I suddenly hear my phone ring.

What was that 'whoa' for

It just a surprise, you almost never text me. Is something wrong?

Well, it's just... I wanted to ask you something...

About what

You know what, never mind.

It's fine.

Are you sure?

Emily

Yeah.

I have to go. I can't be on my phone right now. I have to go to sleep.

Oh ok... well see you tomorrow

She didn't answer me after that. What is she talking about? Nothing special happened accept.... wait. No way? Did she find out... no, that can't be it?

The next day, I woke up a little earlier than normal. I got down and almost bumped into my mom "oh, you're up?" She asked surprised "oh, yeah... I guess" I walk over to the living room.

"Where's dad?" I ask after sitting down, normally he'd be down by now "oh, he caught a cold, don't worry about it, he's fine, he just isn't really feeling well"

"oh ok," I got quiet and started eating... I couldn't help but think about my conversation with Emily last night. What did she want to talk about... did she find out about me and Adam. All this made me think about telling my mom too... I mean, she deserves to know, right? "H-hey? Mom?"

"Yeah, what's wrong" I look at her and try to tell her... but the words just didn't leave my mouth. "....never mind" I take one last bite and walk back upstairs. I quickly get all my stuff and head back down "hey?" My mom stops me just before I could leave through the door "Are you okay?" She puts her hand on my shoulder. I nod and walk outside.

As I got on the bus, I realize it's still too early. Good job, me.

When I got to school I only saw 2 other people. I decided to just get to a table and wait for people I know. I got on my phone and start playing some games.

After a while, I started to see some other people coming inside. But I still didn't see any of my friends. But before I could look further my vision was filled with Rachel's face. Shocked, I lean back and almost fall off my chair "whoa, how?!" I almost scream as I try to maintain my balance, she giggles and takes a seat next to me.

"Sorry, I didn't think you be that surprised" I put my phone in my pocket and lean back "what do you want?" I ask "why would I want anything?" She asks with an innocent look on her face. "Why else would you willingly sit next to me, I know you don't like me"

"fair enough" she sits straight and she stares at me. "What exactly is going on between you and Adam?" I sigh and put my arms on my legs "you know, it really doesn't concern you." I say looking back at her. "It does, he's my best friend." She defends "Well if he's your best friend, go ask him. If he wants to tell you that is, but I thought he already explained" she looks angry

"he didn't. He said it wasn't important to me.." "Well, then I guess I shouldn't tell you, huh?"

I grabbed my bag and was about to leave, but she pulled me back "tell me anyway." I sigh "why do you want to know so badly," I ask repositioning

"because I'm worried about him, and he won't speak to me" I was starting to get a little angry myself "I really don't care." She keeps trying to get me to say it... "come on. Just tell me already" I try to get up once more, and again, she pulls me back down. "Can you stop that?!" I ask frustrated. "Only if you just explain"

"no." She let's go "you aren't forcing him, are you" "whoa, whoa, What?" She leans back in her chair "why else would he do that with you" I put my bag on the table "are you serious right now!? Why the hell would I do that" I say angry "I don't know" she says looking away "it's not that okay" I sit down and try to calm down a bit

"then what is?!" I let out a long sigh "Well.. tell me?" She asks impatiently "we're dating, okay?" I decided to just tell her. It getting really annoying. "What?!" She said as she suddenly stood up "what's going on?" I look behind me, it was Adam.

I look back at Rachel. She quickly grabs her bag and storms off. "Nathan..what happened" I look in the direction where she just ran off too, what's with that reaction?
