Just What I Needed

Chapter 14

Staring down at the duo I watch as Shado tries her best to stop the bleeding using ripped cloth from her shirt while Oliver's face grows pale by the minute sweat beginning to pool down his face. He doesn't have long and I don't really know if I should let him die or not. Oliver's death could hinder how helpful Shado and Slade are but at the same time Oliver bleeding out and still having a chance to be saved could be extremely helpful in making people talk.

"We need to go back to our base." Hearing Shado's determined filled voice caused me to crack a small smile that seemed to be missing from most of my days for the last four months.

"Really, and what makes you think I'll let you do that?" I drawl out either the sarcasm in my voice or the pain from Shado's broken ribs causing her whole body to visibly tremble as she turns to look at me with a face filled with rage and tears.

"H-hey it'll be ok." Hearing Oliver's weak voice I watch as he raises his hand cupping Shado's cheek as she turns back to him.

"You know I'll let you save him all you have to do is answer some of my questions."

"Anything." She says defeatedly as I reach down and pick up the fallen wooden dagger that I lost during the fight with Oliver.

"Good then tell me about the caves you know of. I need to know all of the locations." I say seriously.

"Yo-you did this for-for a cave?" The defeat in her voice is exhilarating, but I am not going to believe it at face value she's a trained killer after all and such a simple trick as changing your voice is easy. "Fine, there's six caves near here…"

"Stop, yeah that's not going to work I'm going to need you to take me there actually directions aren't my strong suit so you'll have to lead me to them." That's a lie, I'm perfectly fine with directions. In all honesty I don't want her to go meet and meet with Slade then ambush me when I go and check the caves and I wouldn't want them to go ahead and find my prize.

"But what about…" Raising my free hand I stop Shado from talking again. Putting my hand behind my back I pull out the common healing potion, raising my hand up in front of me I shake the small test tube that has enough pink liquid for around a mouthful of healing. I can't say for certain if the common potion will heal the wound fully but it should help at least a little bit… I hope. Even if it doesn't help and Oliver Queen does die then it doesn't matter to me.

"Catch!" Throwing the vial through the air Shado catches it in her hand taking the cork off of it giving it a sniff. "That potion should help him in the meantime, why don't we get acquainted? You should know by name I think I told you but in case you forgot my name is Theo Walker your name is Shado right?" Walking over to Shado I hold out my hand, but instead of greeting me Shado completely ignores me in favor of examining the vial, shaking it, smelling it, and even tasting the liquid by putting a small drop on her finger. I have absolutely nothing against giving away this common item. I'll more than likely never need it now that I have my regeneration. It would've just sat there collecting dust.

"What is this?" Shado asks, turning to me.

"Well this here my dear is something that just might make Oliver feel at least a little bit better so I wouldn't dally too much longer because if I wanted him to die I would just take my life back." Shado turns back to a now unconscious Oliver bringing the vial up to his lips as she slowly pours in the liquid. Watching as Oliver greedily gulps down the liquid I toss the dagger in the air clapping my hands twice drawing Shado's attention towards me before catching it.

"Alight now that that's finished we can go!" I say with a wide grin standing back up.

"No…" I hear Shado mutter under her breath still not facing me directing her undivided attention to Oliver.

What more does she fucking want?! I saved Oliver and she's still defying me. I even showed her a tad bit of mercy by letting her treat him. Maybe I've been too kind of a jailer?

Taking a deep breath staring at the back of Shado's head I step forward grabbing Shado's ponytail yanking as hard as I can throwing her away from Oliver as I grab the blade in his leg.

"Let's make one thing clear about our relationship Shado, there isn't one. I'm not killing you because I need something from you but him…" Slowly pulling out the blade from Oliver's leg he wakes up and begins to scream in agony weakly holding the blade in his leg.

"NO!" Shado screams quickly standing from the ground going to rush at me only to stop as I put the wooden dagger to Oliver's throat.

"I don't need him, so either we go now and you take me where I want to go and we'll leave Oliver's fate to the gods or I can restrain you then torture Oliver in front of you and chances are with that arm of yours, your chances are very slim at winning." The once defiant face of Shado slowly goes back to that same lovely face of defeat as she stares down at the dirt.

"Fine," I hear her say defeatedly. "I'll take you where you want to go."

"Good." Pushing the knife into Oliver's leg he falls back into unconsciousness. Stabbing the dagger into the dirt I pick up an arrow from the quiver on my back that I took on when I made Oliver and Shado drop their weapons. Walking to Shado I knee her in the stomach shoving her to the ground roughly grabbing her hands as she tries to fight. Holding her hands together I line up the dagger carefully slicing right through the joints in her hand. As Shado's screams fill the air, whatever birds in the trees that had yet to be scared away fly off. Hoisting Shado back onto her feet I hold her steady as she stumbles both of her hands virtually crippled one from the sliced jointes the other from the dagger in the shoulder.

"Good now let's get moving." Shoving Shado forward she gives one last glance back at Oliver before looking forward leading me into the forest.

Sitting by the crackling fire the smell of rabbit filling my nose as the food cooks the warmth of it is an unfamiliar forgotten feeling. Watching as Shado struggles to grab the dagger in her shoulder, her face filled with pain as she tries to lift her only grip-able hand I idly turn the rabbit stick. We've traveled for most of the day visiting four of the six caves Shado knew of but we had to make constant periodic stops because of the amount of blood Shado lost.

Stabbing the rabbit stick into the ground I stand up drawing Shado's attention towards me as I put two arrow tips in the fire before I walk around crouching in front of her staring at her wounds.

"If the dagger isn't taken out soon it'll get infected it has to be removed and cauterized the wrist as well." Glancing up into Shado's eyes she immediately looks away.

"What did it look like I was doing?" She snaps as a small smirk graces my face. Reaching into my quiver I take out another arrow snapping off the arrow head tossing it into the fire.

"Bite down on this." I say handing her what's left of the arrow. Watching as Shado bites down on the wood I tear the cloth around the dagger letting her torn t-shirt fall revealing the top of her small perky breast. Looking closer at the wound the dried and wet blood going down her body the daggers a half inch deep. "Ready? Three, two!" Before I get to one I rip out the dagger blood spilling out as I quickly grab one of the arrows with glowing red metal and charred wood from the fire.

Pressing the metal to the wound Shado's muffled screams begin to fill my ear as her body slumps forward. Laying Shado down I put the arrow back into the fire grabbing the second one quickly cauterizing the wrist wound. I've had fun this last day and a half or so being around actual people is enjoyable but at the end of the day that's all they are. The only difference they have between a citizen and themselves is the fact that they actually have some use to me but once that use runs out they'll just be another sacrifice to Apep. That's one of the main reasons why I left the dagger in Oliver because anything killed with the dagger is immediately considered a sacrifice no need for the hieroglyphs.

Reaching into my inventory I take out the dragon egg the size of a small car wheel and let it sit in the fire resting my head back on the tree. Slade should be tracking us right now and possibly Oliver if he's still alive and suicidal to get his precious Shado back which means there's no time for rest.

As the rays of the morning sun begin to break through the thick forest trees I stand from my relaxed position on the forest floor walking to the still raging fire the corpse of the rabbit half eaten on the stick till next to the flame. Putting the back of my hand close to the egg I feel the skin begin to burn my flesh melting into the flames as I yank my hand away as I feel a grin begin to split my face.

Grabbing the wooden dagger in the dirt I place my free hand high above the egg stabbing the dagger into my hand ripping it out letting my blood spill onto the egg as it quickly evaporates.

"Come on my child you can do it…" My voice is a mere whisper getting lost in the wind as I watch a small crack emerge on the scaled white egg.
