Isobel's eyes widened at the expanse of pale plain skin there was no mark. No triskele. She backed away from him. "You're not Jay!" she whispered.

The man in front of her grinned. "I was thinking when you'll find out. It is a bit quicker for my liking," he said as he advanced towards her.

And then— THUMP!

Isobel looked at the unconscious body splayed on the ground. She looked up and saw Jayden, her Jayden, standing there holding a stump in his hand. He was wearing a vest which gave her a clear view of the triskele. His chest was heaving as if exhausted from physical exertion. He looked at her, his mouth agape and breathing heavily.
