They looked at me a bit confused, I looked back over there and he was gone, just as fast as I had seen him. I had been worried that I would not find the place, but I was fairly good with twoleg places and I had seen around the area that he had been at.
"Well... He was there, I guess he hopped down from the fence." I said to all of them. They looked at me for a few seconds and then they nodded. They had learned at this point that I was not a liar, I was proud to have that on my name at least.
"Lets just find a place to rest for the night, and then we will find out whe
re he went tomorrow, Mint needs some rest." Oister said to all of us. I nodded to her, I looked at Kettle, he looked a little bit disappointed but he did not say anything about it.
We all sat there and waited for Mint to catch up, when she saw we were waiting for her she instantly sped up feeling a bit bad that she was once again slowing us down. I just felt more bad for her, she had said on several occasions that she wanted to go back since she was slowing us down too much.
I think even she knew at this point, it was far too late for that. She fell to the ground, all of us looked at each other feeling a bit scared for Mint. Oister and Limp were the first ones to react to it, they ran over and helped her up. Mint pushed them off as if she was trying to tell them that she was okay.
To be completely honest, I knew that she was not okay. She would say that she could make it, no matter what the circumstances were. I watched, as Oister and Limp helped bring her over to me and Kettle, I nodded my thanks to both of them for helping my mate out so much.
"Let's rest in the twoleg place for the night. That way we will be safe, we don't know all that has happened to this area since the clans have been gone." Kettle said to all of us. I looked at him and nodded, he was a good leader just like me, I was proud of him.
I would love to have him as a deputy of my clan, but if he chose to lead his own clan, I would not complain about that at all. Who really knows the destiny that starclan has layed out for him. We all began walking to the nearby twoleg place that was just beside the one that I had seen the other cat at earlier.
Me and Oister helped Mint all the way there to the fence. Once we were there, Kettle and Limp both easily hopped over the fence. I was about to hop over it as well, but Oister hissed at me which kind of threw me off guard. I looked at her a bit confused, and then I saw her pointing at Mint.
Mint was so tired, I could tell that she had no idea what was really going on around her. Even if she did in the first place, she was not in the best shape to be trying to hop over a fence in the first place.
Me and Oister began scratching a spot through the the bottom of the fence, she was the smallest out of all of us, even Limp was nearly the size of her, and Limp was much younger than Mint. I heard Kettle yell something from the other side that I could not quite catch.
I then heard and began to feel the earth move beside us as I could tell that they were scratching through the other side, realizing what we were doing and trying to help us. After a few more moments there was a nice enough gap for Mint to easily push through and potentially even me to go through.
I thanked Oister, she then pushed Mint towards it, Mint nodded a bit unsteadily and then she walked through the small little spot. Me and Oister went ahead and jumped over the fence. I smiled when I saw Mint perfectly fine with Limp helping her on the other side.
I looked at the twoleg place, I could tell that it was a bit empty and a bit worn down. The doorway was completely open, for a few moments I thought about going in there and staying the night in there, but I thought otherwise at the last second, it probably would not be the smartest decision.
"I don't want to go in there... Can we just stay out here beside that tree?" Limp asked me. I looked at her for a few moments and then I smiled, I had been thinking the exact same thing that she had obviously. I nodded to her, she ghasped in a bit of a thankful fashion.
"Yes... We also need to keep watch for the night, I man the 3rd shift, Oister if you could do the 1st and Kettle you do the 2nd." I said to all of them. Kettle nodded and so did Limp, we then walked into the tree roots, which was not a half bad place to stay the night, with the moss being a nice bedding place.
Oister sat there a bit confused for a few moments, I looked at her. She slowly walked over, I was confused as well, what was she thinking about. I looked at her and then nodded for her to speak whatever was on her mind right now.
"Why do we need to keep watch? We can just get good rest for the night right?" She asked me. Kettle looked at her a bit surprised, but I was not surprised at all. She had never really been in a twoleg place, so she probably had no idea what it was like at night, and how dangerous they could be if you were not actually inside one of the dens.
"Dogs... They could attack us, along with many other things." I said to her. She looked at me a bit confused when I had said the word dogs. But she nodded to me anyways. I would have thought she would have known what dogs were, we had been attacked by a few one of the first nights we were out here, but I suppose no one had told her what it was that had attacked us.
"Dogs... They usually live in twoleg places, sometimes they go a bit out in the wild, they usually hunt cats, its almost like it is a sport to them. They attacked us the first couple of nights we were out here." Kettle stepped in for me. I looked at him and then I nodded, Oister looked at him a bit understanding now.
I sat down beside Mint who was already asleep, I could tell that she was completely exhausted. Her wound was healed completely, but her body was not. Hopefully this was the end of our journey though, hopefully she could get some decent rest the next few nights.
Limp sat down beside me and began purring, on that note, I slowly fell into a bit of a deeper sleep.
I woke up, this time I was not near the place that we had slept at last night, I was in a completely different area. But it was still a twoleg place, I sat there for a few moments not sure what was going on. But then I heard a few cats talking.
Why weren't they asleep? I could tell that it was still night time, it was completely dark outside, I shook my head and began walking over to where I heard the cats talking. Clearly they were not actually inside one of the twoleg places.
Maybe they were like those kittypets before all of this had happened to me, they were owned by twolegs but for some reason they always liked to sleep outside. When I moved closer to them, I noticed that it was not true... Well maybe it still could be.
Me and Tristan did not have chains on our necks, but I was pretty sure that was becuase of the other owner that we had, he probably never wanted to get them. I had heard from other kittpets that they were used to bring us back to our home in case we got lost.
Some of the cats had loud ones that rang whenever they walked around, I would hate to have one of those, you would never be able to hunt anything, nor would you be able to sneak up on any other cat or anything else.
I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts on whatever it was that I was thinking. I saw about 5 or 6 cats, they were sitting side by side, most of them were asleep, but I saw 2 cats that were still awake. They were talking to each other, I could not hear what they were saying, and it was too dark outside to see what they looked like.
I walked a bit closer to them, I stepped on a stick on the way there and they both looked a bit scared and confused, wondering where it came from. They looked right at me, but for some reason, whenever I was near a cat in my dreams, they were never able to see me, sometimes I wondered if the dream was even real.
I kept on walking, realizing that they could not see me, once they thought that they were safe they began talking once again. This time I managed to sneak in what they were saying to each other, one was a tom and the other was a shecat.
"There was a cat in my dream last night, he said his name was Jayfeather, he said follow me... Follow the dark star, it would lead us the end of the path." The she cat said to the tom. The tom looked at her a bit confused but he nodded.
"Jayfeather! The old medicine cat of Thunderclan?" I said to the cats, they did not seem to hear what I had said though. I looked at the ground a bit disapointed, how could they always hear me move around, but they could never hear me when I tried talking?
They were silent for a few moments, but then one of the cats that was with them groaned, I looked at the cat, I could barely catch a glimpse of the cat, but I could tell it was a bit of a smaller cat, probably no older than 3 moons old.
"We need to find a place, somewhere we can help our kits... They need to grow up in a safe environment, I don't want them to be alone their whole lives, this place is a mess." The tom said back to the she cat.
The she cat looked at him for a few moments, then she nodded. She then looked at the kit that had groaned. I looked at the kit as well, I could see it a lot better now, I could tell that the kit was sick. She needed to be treated soon, she was in a miserable state, and the cold time was coming soon, it would only get worse for the poor thing.
"What about those clans your mother used to tell us about? She told us that they were always a safe and amazing place to live." The she cat said to the tom. The tom looked at her for a few moments and then he shook his head at her.
I moved in a bit closer, still barely being able to hear what they were saying to each other, I made sure that I did not step on anything this time that might scare them away. I noticed the cats, they were in one of my first dreams.
"No... They fell apart, they don't exist anymore... My mother told me all about them, told me my father was the last leader..." He said to the she cat. She looked at him a little bit disappointed, the tom walked closer to her and he nudged himself against her to try and make her feel better.
It made her feel a bit better, but I could tell that the she cat had a lot of other things on her mind right now. The tom looked at her a bit sadly but he did not say a single thing. They sat down to try and get some rest, but I could tell that they were too worried about their kits to fall asleep.
"We need to find somewhere for our kits... They will die soon, if taking them to the twolegs is our only hope I will do it..." The she cat said to the tom. The tom looked at her and then he shook his head. The she cat looked at him a bit annoyed.
"I can't do that, if we do that then we will lose them, the twolegs will put them up to be taken away by different twolegs." The tom said to the she cat. The she cat looked at the tom a bit sadly, I could tell that she wasn't thinking about that though, it seemed like she had already made up her mind.
"I would rather save theirs lives and lose them, then to just lose them by death." The she cat said to the tom. The tom looked at her a bit surprised but he did not say anything for quite a few moments.
Instead they just kept looking at their kits, I heard one of them cough, then another one did. The tom looked a bit sad but he nodded anyways. A good father would spare his own life for theirs in a heartbeat, no matter what the cost was.
"What if they go to starclan... We will get to see them there." The tom said to the she cat. I could tell that the tom was trying to find any way possible to still have hope for keeping the kits. I felt bad for him. I could tell what the kits were sick from.
I knew what it was, Jayfeather had taught me what it was. If Jayfeather had taught me... Why had he not taught them? They had just said that they were talking to Jayfeather, I had just over heard that part of what they were talking about.
"Pineclaw... We aren't a part of the clans, how can we go to starclan if the clans don't exist anymore." The she cat said to the tom. The tom looked at her a bit sad but he nodded to her anyways. I felt bad for the cats, they were still trying to find any sort of hope, but I could tell they didn't even believe it.
I looked at the poor cats a bit sadly, I could not imagine losing one of my kits, if I ever even had kits, I hoped that some day me and Mint would have a few at least... If Mint even survived, I shook my head... I did not need to even be thinking those thoughts.
"The starclan cat's are real... You guys will soon find out, I just hope it is not too late." I said to myself. But suddenly the 2 cats that were standing nearby me hopped up and pulled their claws out, this time they were looking right at me and I looked at them a bit confused.
I looked at them a bit surprised, they were looking right at me. Could they see me? I moved a bit closer, this time the tom react and he ran at me and threw me to the ground. It was a weak fighting me and I easily pushed him off of me.
"You can see me?" I asked the tom. He looked at me, and then he hissed at me, the she cat stood in front of the kits in case I was going to attack them. The tom then said something to me and I looked back over at him.
"Of course we can see you... Just because you are a black cat doesn't mean we are blind... What is a rogue doing in our twoleg place?" He asked me. I looked at him a bit confused, and then I looked at myself, I was in fairly bad shape, I could see why he might think that I was a rogue.
"No its just that... Well never mind. Im not hear to attack you. You were talking about starclan?" I asked the tom cat. He looked at me a bit surprised for a few moments but then he moved closer to me, still not wanting to trust me quite yet.
"What about it? I recommend you leave before things get real ugly." The tom said to me. I looked at him a bit surprised, I was more surprised at the fact that the cats could actually see me this time than the fact that the cat was threatening me.
I could tell the cat was a bit of a weak fighter, I doubt he could do much if he got in fight with me. I did not say that to him though, instead I looked over at the she cat and nodded to her to make her at least feel a little bit better. I could see that the sun was beginning to rise in the horizon, I knew I did not have much time before Kettle was going to wake me up.
"Yes... I don't have much time. I am not really here... The star clan cats are real, can you just tell me where you are at? I know what your kits have and I know how to fix it." I said to the cats. They looked at me a bit surprised but they nodded to me.
"We are at the twoleg place near the pine trees..." Pineclaw said to me. I looked at him and then nodded. It was good to hear that from him, I knew that the pine trees were the Shadowclan territory, I looked around for a few moments to see where exactly I was at in the twoleg place.
"Thank you... Your kits have greencough, thank you for trusting me, I dont think I have much time. I will see you as fast as possible." I said to the cats. I looked at them, they still did not look like they could fully trust me, I could not blame them that much.
Just as soon as I said it though, I was gone... And I woke up.
"Get up Moon... I could tell you needed the sleep, just finish up the watch and then when we wake up you're done." Kettle said pushing me up. I looked at him a bit disappointed but I did not say anything about it. Besides, maybe the reason why he had let me sleep a bit later was the reason they could see me in the first place.
Maybe starclan had not thought that deep into it and they only had it like that in a bit of a smaller time frame. I looked at him and then nodded, I could tell that Kettle was tired as well. It was kind of him to let me sleep a little bit longer though.
Kettle was one of those good cats, he always took care of the cats around him before he thought about himself first, that was what you needed from a leader. A leader gets 9 lives I had heard but each of those lives can be used to save another cats life.
I looked at Kettle for a few moments, he was still looking at me to make sure that I was okay. I nodded to him and then I sat there beside him on the roots, he needed his sleep, my mind was just in a different place right now. I figured I could just use some time to myself to think this morning anyways.
"Thank you Kettle... You need to get some sleep."
