Chapter 23: Please Help!

"My name is Sphynx, what is yours? I haven't met many cats that were friendly to me. Those cat's you're looking for were scared of me." The dog said to me. I looked at her and then nodded. I was starting to get a little bit annoyed with the fact that she was continuing on with the conversation when I was trying to go.

I just wanted her name, in the case that it was something that I might remember or need to remember, but it did not seem that important of a name. I probably would never meet this dog ever again. I closed my eyes for a few moments, and when I opened them I saw her staring at me.

I knew why, I was confused for a few moments, but she was also expecting me to say my name. I could tell that the dog was a bit lonely, probably the reason why she was being so friendly to me in the first place.

"My name is Moon... I have to go now but maybe we will meet again some day." I said to the small little dog. The dog looked at me for a few moments, and then it nodded. Looking at the ground a bit sadly. I knew that the dog was lonely, but there was nothing I could do in the first place.

I can only help so many people, and right now I had to make finding those cats a priority. The dog then looked up at me, this time with a bit of a smile as it began responding to the words that I had just said to it.

"Good luck on your journey Moon, I hope that we will meet again, indeed some day. Go save those kits now..." She said to me. I looked at her a little bit surprised, this dog must have been talking to starclan... It did not make all that much sense to me.

How a dog could be talking in a cats tongue, but that was the least of what I was thinking about. The fact that she had known that I was on a journey, it did not scare me. It was more of a bit of a surprise to me.

Not only even that though, how did she know that the kits were even sick in the first place? I looked at her for a few more moments, by now she was turning away and walking back over to her den, I could tell that she was a bit sad that I was leaving, but I figured that I would ask her one last thing.

"Hey Sphynx, do you talk to Starclan?" I asked the dog, kind of shouting at it now sense it was so far away. The dog turned around, and she looked at me a bit confused as to what I was talking about. It told me just about all I needed to know.

"Starclan? Is that another dog that can speak to cats like me?" The dog looked at me, almost with some sort of hope in her voice. I looked at her sadly for a few moments, and then I shook my head. I could see a bit of a look of disappointment on her face as she turned back around a bit sadly.

"Good luck Sphynx, maybe one day we will meet again." I said back to the dog. The dog turned around for a few more moments, I could see the look of sadness on her face. She did not say a word to me though, she just nodded, and then kept on walking to her den.

Once she was inside, I tried my best to see if I could see her but it was too far away and it was too dark, with the surroundings being bright around the den. I closed my eyes, and then shook my head, I knew that the sun was about halfway in the sky now.

It was time for me to go, I was running out of time now. Every single second mattered at this point, I shivered, and then I hopped down from the fence. The area that she had told me to go, there was a path splitting across another path not too far away, so I would not have to uncomfortably hop between fences.

I could easily just walk down the side of the path, and just hope that another monster did not try to run into me like it had done earlier. It had scared me near to death, I had never seen a monster split off from its path like that before.

I kept on walking, every time I heard a monster now, it scared the daylights out of me. But I had to get over it at this point, it must have been a fluke, maybe the monster saw something behind me, I had never heard of a monster trying to eat a cat.

The monster was much bigger than me, it probably did not even see me. Besides I would not be near enough to fill up its large belly. I kept on walking, it seemed like such a long time, but I turned across and saw another road to the left of me.

I knew even though it did seem like I had been walking for a lot of time, I looked up in the sky and it seemed as if the sun had barely moved at all. I suppose I was paying a lot more attention today, so it seemed like things were happening quite a bit slower than usual.

I decided to turn into the small little path, it did not seem familiar to the place that I had seen in my dream, the place I had seen in my dream the place that they were at was a broken down twoleg nest. It looked like a twoleg had not been living in there for quite some time.

This entire path that I was headed on towards right now, they all looked to have places that were in fairly good condition... Besides 1... I saw one that looked pretty beaten down, I could not remember exactly what the one that I had seen from my dream had looked like, so I figured I might as well give this place a try.

I began walking towards the smaller twoleg place that looked fairly torn down. I had to hope that they had stayed in one of these places, surely they knew that I could not find them if they were moving around so much right?

As I came closer to the place, I heard something from the side of it, it sounded like a cat mewing! I began heading over towards it, this could be it! I might have found it! As I grew closer I heard another cat mew, it grew my hopes up through the roof now.

There were 2 cats in there, maybe they were searching for each other, I moved until I could basically hear the cats walking. I then hopped through a window of the small little twoleg place, trying to search around where the cats might be at.

The place began to grow to a silence, had the cats heard me when I had landed from the jump into the twoleg place? It would make sense as to why they would be quiet now. I thought about saying something and letting them know that I was here, but for some reason something stopped me.

I walked out of the room that I was in, and turned the corner. I saw two larger cats, a bit bigger than the cats that I had seen in my dream. It was to dark to notice if I could tell who the cats were, but I began sneaking up on the cats to see if I had noticed them from somewhere that I had been before.

But then I tripped on something, there had been a hole from a broken down piece of flooring in the twoleg place, it was not all that loud the way that I had landed, but it did not matter at this point, I was so close to the other cats at this point that they had heard it anyways.

Both of the cats turned towards me, and one of them hissed at me, clearly it was a tom and a she cat. I could tell that for sure, but it was still so dark in the room, and they weren't close enough to the nearest window for me to see if I knew who they were.

"I'm sorry to disturb you but I was-" I began saying. But the tom cat cut me off right before I said anything at all to them. The tone in his voice kind of scared me, and I moved back a little bit thinking that I might very well get attacked, starclan had taught me a lot of how to fight.

These cats were clearly rogues, they did not fight the way that a normal cat would fight, but I could use some moves that they might not expect. I shook my head not trying to think about it, and I did my best to pay attention to what it was that the tom cat was saying to me.

"Get out of our den! You are not welcome here, do it before we kill you!" The tom cat said to me. I gulped when he said it, the way he was talking seemed nothing like the way that the other tom cat did in my dream. But you don't know if they could just be afraid and trying to protect their kits.

The shecat did not seem to have any kits by her side though, had they already given away their kits? Was I too late? I began talking to the cats, trying to calm them down just a little bit, it almost seemed like the tom cat wanted to start a fight though.

"I'm sorry... I just have to ask one question and then I will leave... Do either of you know Piper or Storm?" I said to them, pretty sure at this point that these were not the cats that I was supposed to be looking for.

The tom then walked into the light of the window, and he was bunch bigger than the cat I had seen in my dream named Piper. I moved back a little bit, seeing that he was so big in the first place. I needed to get out of here, I could tell that the tom cat was angry.

"Do I look like your daddy? Sure! We know them! They came in and we killed them, just like we are going to do to you if you don't leave right now!" The tom cat said to me. I looked at the tom cat for a few moments, and then I gulped a little bit.

The tom was way bigger than me, I did not think that I would stand much of a chance in a fight, even if I did the battle moves that I had been taught in the correct fashion. Besides, there was no reason to start a fight in the first place with these cats.

"I'm sorry, I will leave now..." I said to the cats, I then turned around and began heading off just about as fast as I possibly could, I turned into the room and looked at the window that I had hopped through not more than a few moments before.

I heard the tom cat say something to me just before I hopped over the window to leave the place. I shivered, I did not want to test those cats patience at all, had they really killed Piper and Storm? Surely he just said that to scare me because I was in his den.

Honestly I did not blame him at all, I had heard that you were not supposed to go into any other clans territory at all, they had every right the attack you for being on their land. I shivered anyways and then began to head back off from that road.

I then saw from not too far ahead of me, an across the main road that I had been on before, there was a road to the right as well, I had not noticed it because I was walking on the left side of the road, I squinted my eyes to see the houses that were ahead of me.

It was too hard to see because they were such a long distance away from me, but I went ahead and figured that I may as well go check out the dens anyways, I looked at the sun, I had wasted a fair amount of time going down this road, I began to walk a little bit faster, I was beginning to run out of time, I wondered if I should even go down this small little path in the first place.

But as I got closer to the main path, I saw a few twoleg places that looked as if they had not been in use for quite some time. I thought about walking down the smaller path for a few moments, I did not have much time anymore, I had to make my decisions wisely.

Surely they would be on the main path right? It did not make sense for me to be going on all of these side paths over and over again and having no such luck. I thought about it for a few moments, and then I saw a cat run past me.

I looked at the cat as it began walking down the empty path with no monsters coming by it at all, I noticed the cat to my Squirrelflight as it turned around to me and then smiled at me. I smiled back at the cat, I was here... This had to be it, there would be no other reason she would be walking across the path like that.

Even though the cat was far away from me, it began talking and her voice seemed to be right up next to me, it did not scare me at all, instead it kind of gave more more of a calm soothing sense, I nodded to her to listen to what she was saying.

"You are near the end Moon... I am proud, keep on fighting." She said to me. Just as she finished the last word, she was gone. I looked down at the ground a bit sadly, knowing that I was losing her once again. She had helped me so much already, she did tell me that I needed to learn some things for myself.

I closed my eyes for a few moments, this was it. This was the end of my journey, and the beginning of a new path. I opened my eyes and looked around to make sure no monsters were coming, and then I ran across the path to get to the other side.

I looked at the broken down twoleg places for a few moments, it seemed like for a while the journey was taking forever for me to reach the end. But now that I thought back on it, it seemed like everything had gone so fast. I looked at them for a few more moments, and then I nodded.

It was time, this was it... I then began walking over to the places, I would search each one as best a I could. There was no other reason that Squirrelflight would come to see me outside of a dream, surely right? I shivered once again, as I walked up on the first of 6 places that I needed to check up on.

I looked at it, as the front door was hanging wide open. Then I slowly walked in, it was a smaller twoleg place thankfully, I don't think they would have chosen this one. It did not look like the one that I had seen in my dream.

I figured I may as well go ahead and search through it though, as I walked into 2 of the smaller rooms, I did not hear or see anything in any of them, I figured, if there was anything nearby, then I might as well yell their names just in case... I just had to hope there was no dog in this place.

"Storm! Piper!" I yelled as loud as I could, I waited for a few moments, but there was no response at all. I closed my eyes, but just as I was about to leave the place I heard footsteps, I turned around to see what it was an where it was coming from.

I spotted something small in the corner, was that one of the kits? I moved closer to see what it was, and I noticed right away that it was a rat. I was in a rats place, I knew they might attack you, and get you very sick so I did not even want to try my luck on them.

I quickly headed out the front door and then get away from the broken twolegs nest. Shivering, I had heard things from starclan about how many cats had died from huge hoards of rats, I did not even want to test my luck on them, if there was no cat nearby, there was no reason for me to keep looking in there.

I then began heading to the next twoleg place, it was a fair bit bigger than the last one that I had gone into, I figured there was no need to go in, if a cat heard me yelling their name, they had to respond, surely right? Especially if there were cats looking for them, looking to save their kits.

I yelled their name once again, but sadly there was no response, I couldn't freak out to soon. I still had plenty of time, and there were 4 other place that I still needed to look at as well... I could freak out if I did not get a response in the 6th house.

As I was walking to the 3rd house, I heard mewing from it. I then began running over to it, to see what could be going on? It seemed like it was a mew of pain, if they needed help, I had to help them, I still had a little bit of the medicine even though some had slipped out a few times.

As I got closer, I heard what it was that they were saying and I stopped myself... Had I been too late? I shivered, and then lowered my head to the ground as I heard what they said.

"Feather! No! Why?! Someone... My kits are dying... Please help!"
