The professor suddenly brandished an odd-looking knife. I attempted to stop him but he warned me not to and just be on standby. Artemis held my arm to hold me back and shook her head. I just sighed in defeat and returned to my position.

"I know what I'm doing." the professor said again. "I'm just cutting off the Historian of the Northeast's connection to the scriptures thus breaking the seal without killing him. Lei, come here."

I stood up and sat opposite of him, just outside the magic circle.

"I'm going to make a cut on his chest." on que, he snapped his fingers and Captain Nikoli's shirt turned into shreds leaving him bare-chested. The symbols on his body were still there and were glowing even brighter. "Once the symbols all vanish, I want you to heal him so he won't die from blood loss."
