Chapter Three A search for the dream

"So, how are we going to do that?" Sam asked impulsively. "What do you mean by that?" I asked giving a smile to cheer him. But he was not in a mood to cheer up; he was giving a scorn look as I took out the cash from cash-counter. "Let's hot-wire a car" I said walking out. He followed me outside. "Isn't It illegal" Sam asked. "Who cares?" I said "Reality's gonna change in next few hours" breaking the window. Sam hot-wired the car and we rode to Juneau.

It was almost a two and a half days journey and we had many pit stops. I figured out what made Sam to get through the altering. My body transferred energy into Sam allowing him to get through. Don't think about how I figured it, it just happened. We were almost near to Juneau, just 100 miles to go. It was dark and a new moon. The only light I could see were the light beamed by our car. All of sudden, something shuddered me. I felt like something is going to happen. Sam stopped the car. I got down and stared at the sky. "Jake" I heard a voice calling me. It was from the woods. I was scared to go in, but the voice keeps on calling me. I walked into the dark woods thinking that something bad can happen. Sam followed me and the voice led me to a place that was scarier than a grave. It was a dead body.

There was no foul smell, probably it must have been just an hour ago, I assumed. "Jake we got to go back" Sam said examining the surrounding. We heard some branches breaking and the next second we were running back to the car. We got into the car and Sam smashed the accelerator. An hour later we made it to Juneau. As soon as we reached, we went to grab something to fill our front. It was midnight and we've got no place to stay. We walked to the boatyard and stood admiring the breeze as the reality altered. "Don't you think we're close to that thing?" I asked Sam. He stood in silence thinking of the shit happening around him.

All of a sudden my mother appeared and said "Jake, run to our home" and vanished. As soon as she vanished a car screeched on the road and some came running towards us. We ran into the streets by jumping on the boats. "What's happening?" Sam asked as we were running to nowhere. "Bad guy's" I said and headed to the home I used to live in. We somehow lost them. After reaching the home or it was used to be. I saw my mother walking into the remains. I walked after her as she revealed an underground room. We both went inside. The men who followed us loomed us. "Will they find us" I asked. "Not if you are quiet" Sam said. "They are gone" my mother whispered. I said the same to Sam. "How did you know?" he said as we crawled out. "My mom said" I said as I walked out of remains of the house. "I thought your mom was dead" he said checking the ambiances. "Since I got the first projection" I said. "Don't say it" he said "Shit! Where are we?" seeing the town. The Town was like a whole weird thing. "We should be in Juneau" I said "But what the hell is this?" walking back to the house.

"It has begun" a voice said. "Mom" I shouted "Is that you?" seeing the sky. "People will turn on each other and will be controlled by the order of devil" she said coming out of thin air. "You find someone who can help you" she said. "Help in which way" I shouted "Everyone who tried died trying" and Sam who was hearing this said "Am I... going to die" in a weird way. "Not now Sam" I shouted.

"You need to find Sarah, You have to fight for your reality that saves the world" she said disappearing again. Some men were shouting from distance. "Sam we have to run" I said moving back. "You brought on to a fucking god damn hill. Do you want us to jump from it taking a leap of death" he said. The men shouted "You have no way out of here" which began to scare us. My mind started to repeat the same word on a loop. 'Reality….Reality…..'

I felt a spark inside me and all of a sudden it started to rumble in the sky. Lightning came out of the sky almost killing the men. "How the hell did it happen" Sam asked feeling awe-struck. I looked at him as if I won a fight. What made the lightning to attack them?
