(Erik's POV)
I had an amused smile on my face, remembering Mayumi's rather 'sultry' comment from a couple of minutes ago; I couldn't help but shake my head.
There she was, walking in front of me, trying so hard not to look back after I just whispered in her ear.
I could imagine the red, tomato-like shade on her face when I did that, somehow I found it very satisfying to see the young beauty try to hide behind her facade, only to fail miserably.
It made me want to embarrass her even more, seeing that flustered look on her face was very entertaining to me.
Never once did I think that I would be having so much fun after such a long time. I wonder what more does the day has in store for me next.
The end of the year was nearing, so was the end of the session. Soon, I would become a 2nd-year student, probably get appointed as the [Advisor].
Being a [Advisor] would mean more work, not that I mind.
It helps me relax when I am not thinking about my future, the various projects, the various plans, the various events, etc.
A change of pace is indeed good for me.
The many pieces of the story have started to form a clear picture, the time of uncertainties is about to end.
From this point on, I know the future...
It makes my life so much easier, my preparations are also nearly finished; now all that is left is to start the cycle of pre-planned events and find all the six remaining pieces of [Dream Chaser Technology].
"Nao-nii! Mari-nee! Here!..." (Erika)
I turned my head to look at the source of the sound; I could see a young red-head waving in Mari's direction with a grin plastered across her face.
Chiba Erika, another future member of the 'Tatsuya Squad' and Naotsugu's younger sister.
In the novel, Erika is a beautiful young girl whose short, bright red-orange hair, which became longer over the time is worn in a ponytail, and has distinct facial features that amplify the impression of her being a lively girl.
She is bright, optimistic, and a person who gets carried away easily. Even for people whom she has just met, she often addresses them in a friendly manner — Tatsuya thought of it as being 'overly familiar' — of speaking.
Her frank and seemingly arrogant attitude, however, often gets her into countless arguments with her fellow classmates, Saijou Leonhard in particular.
She has described herself as someone who, during elementary school and middle school, had spent most of her time alone. She has a pleasant attitude and could easily get along with anyone, but she turns negligent towards relationships quickly.
Her old friends call her cold and say that she acts like a whimsical cat, while others mentioned that she acts high and mighty. There have been many boys who wanted to be in a relationship with her. She has a habit of talking to herself but has hidden it as she entered high school.
Erika displays blatant antagonism towards Watanabe Mari because she deems the latter unsuited to be her older half-brother, Chiba Naotsugu's girlfriend.
Interestingly, here she was, attending Mari's birthday party.
This just goes to prove that not everything in this world will go according to the original novel; my addition to this world has affected the future for sure.
Not that it really matters; I doubt that anything or anyone would be able to stop my plans, at least not now after considering my preparations.
"Happy Birthday, Mari-nee!..." (Erika)
The red-head proceeds to wish Mari happy birthday, giving the latter a tight hug, causing the usually strict Mari to melt and smile.
Looking at Mari's expression, It is safe to assume that she has gotten attached to her boyfriend's younger sister.
Her situation was very classic, Naotsugu and Mari loved each other but the Chiba clan weren't in support of their relationship, considering Naotsugu's status as the most talented Chiba and clan head's son.
This was also one of the reasons why Mari always tried to establish herself, build her own status so that she could stand on par with Naotsugu's status.
Basically, make the Chiba clan deem her worthy for Naotsugu.
"Now now Erika, you can catch up with Mari later. First let me introduce you to my friends..." (Naotsugu)
"This is Saegusa Mayumi…" (Naotsugu)
"I already know Mayumi-nee! Mari-nee and her, are besties!..." (Erika)
"Haha...yeah" (Naotsugu)
"This is Ichihara Suzune…" (Naotsugu)
"Hello Suzune-san! I am Chiba Erika, nice to meet you!...." (Erika)
"Hello, Chiba-san…" (Suzune)
"Don't mind Su-chan! She is just bad at casual conversations…" (Mari)
I could imagine the black lines on Suzune's forehead; she was indeed bad at casual conversations, not that I blame her, some people are just not as socially active as others.
"This is Erik Saltzman…" (Naotsugu)
"Hello, Erik-san! We have similar names!..." (Erika)
That's true, the absence of the letter 'a' differentiate our first names.
"Hello! Chiba-san, the pleasure is all mine..."
From all the member of the 'Tatsuya squad', I have only ever met Mikihiko and Erika up until now, now I am curious about the others.
I couldn't be bothered to keep an eye on kids, even if they are very capable individuals. Our levels are just too far apart and I am not interested in wasting my time to find information that I already know.
The USNA, Japanese-Special 101-Battalion, parasites, etc; are nothing compared to what I have planned for the world.
Muahahaha….! (jk)
Anyway, let's not get carried away, shall we...
I also did wonder, why would the Chiba family name Naotsugu's younger sister as Erika?
Wait a minute...Oh yeah, Erika's mother was apparently an American. Her father had a lover after Naotsugu's mother died due to unfortunate circumstances.
Now that I think about it, Erika lives in a separate apartment rather than living in the Chiba clan compound, probably due to the differences with her clan and herself.
"Now, since the introductions are done let's go and enjoy the movie!...." (Naotsugu)
"Well, you said it..." (Erik)
To be truthful, I am looking forward to enjoying myself.
