"Well, I did teach him quite a lot about his powers back when Elder Kudou invited me to help train his grandson." (Erik)

"He is going to tryhard; to impress me with his skills, lol." (Erik)

(Inside Main discussion room)

"I propose that we let go of the less important events and focus on achieving major victories in the [Newcomer's Division]; instead." (Erik)

"Hm? Why do you say so, Erik?" (Mayumi)

Erik sat with the other older participants who together formed [The Council]; the student body responsible for making every decision during [Nine-School Competition].

It was 3:00 in the afternoon, the preliminary and elimination rounds of [Speed-Shooting] and [Battle-Board] were finally over.

Mayumi and Mari; both of these talented magicians had dominated their competition and due to their fabulous performance, the [First-High School] was a little bit ahead of its peers.

Instead of directly answering his fiancee's question, Erik expanded the meaning behind his previous statements.

"Mayumi has dominated the [Speed-Shooting] whereas Mari is ranked first in [Battle-Board]." (Erik)

"Considering that my pears haven't improved beyond my capabilities; I believe that I will be able to dominate the [Pillar-Break] and [Monolith Code] together with Katsuto." (Erik)

"Now, if I were to add all the points that we would be gaining from these events." (Erik)

"I dare say! It will be enough for us to maintain the first rank even if we were to lose in the other minor events like [Mirage-Bat]." (Erik)

A serious expression appeared on his face as he leaned forward; his hands covering the lower part of his face.

"But!... We can't afford to give away points of the events in the [Newcomer's Division]." (Erik)

"The [Newcomer's Division] holds bonus points for the first-year participants; we must exploit the system and gain as many points as possible." (Erik)

Hearing his words, the students went silent as they digested the new information.

Katsuto nodded in agreement; he had his eyes closed as he contemplated Erik's words.

After some time he too leaned forward and placed his palm on the table, simultaneously opening his eyes before vocalizing his opinion.

"I agree with Erik's statement." (Katsuto)

"Knowing that our chances of victory in certain events are very low; we can simply direct the resources to other events." (Katsuto)

"For instance, we can also invest more in our [Newcomer's Division] especially since the points obtained in that event are relatively more when compared to other events in the [Official Division]." (Katsuto)

Katsuto's words attracted tons of support from [The Council] but some of the students still felt that it was too risky to implement this idea.

"So what do you suggest, Juumonji-san?" (Hattori)

"Should we divert our resources to the events in the [Newcomer's Division]? If yes, then which events should we focus on; considering our limited resources?" (Hattori)

As expected of the [Vice-President], he quickly analyzed Katsuto's statement and presented [The Council] with vital questions.

Katsuto stayed silent as he started to think about the advantages and disadvantages their [First-Year Participants] had.

"Hmm…our chances of winning [Monolith Code] and [Pillar-Break] are close to 10%. Even securing the third rank is very hard for our team." (Katsuto)

Katsuto spoke with a heavy tone; he wasn't really happy with his words yet he knew that the truth needed to be addressed.

While [The Council] seemed to tactfully agree by staying silent; Mayumi didn't like the direction they were heading in.

"Aren't we being too critical here?" (Mayumi)

"While our team may not be the best team ever, each one of our participants is a highly gifted individual." (Mayumi)

As the Student Council President, it was Mayumi's job to stand up for her fellow students, who have been relentlessly training hard for the upcoming events.

Even if it meant arguing with her fiancee, Erik.

"I sorry, Mayumi but I agree with Katsuto on this point." (Erik)

"Our team is indeed talented, no doubt about it... But! Our opponents this time are more skilled, especially in the Male-category." (Erik)

"I suggest we should focus more on the Female-category this time around whereas things remain the same in the [Official Division]." (Erik)

Erik simply countered Mayumi's words by presenting harsh and cold facts; [The Council] had no choice but to make a decision!

Mayumi looked around the round table and knew that they will go through with their plan if not stopped!

She stood up from her chair and placed her palms onto the table; she opened her mouth and spoke in a grave tone.

"If we went through with this decision; I can say for sure that it will give rise to conflict within our teams which will be very determinal for us!" (Mayumi)

"And what do you expect me to say to them?" (Mayumi)

"I am sorry but we are relocating the resources to other teams since we believe that you guys wouldn't be able to win!?" (Mayumi)

"That all the hard work you guys did was all in vain!?" (Mayumi)

"I am sorry, but this is not acceptable!" (Mayumi)

Mayumi's passionate words managed to shake [The Council] who started to hesitate.

Looking at the older students hesitating, Mayumi didn't ease up and decided to hammer the nail into the coffin.

"I, Saegusa Mayumi, as the Current President of First-High School, veto the decision taken by [The Council]!" (Mayumi)

Hearing Mayumi's words, [The Council] panicked and asked the former to reconsider.

"Saegusa-san!? Please don't rush to a decision!" (Older Student)

"Yes, Saegusa-san! Please rethink!" (Older Student)

Unfortunately, Mayumi was not going to bulge, at all!

"No, I have already spoken! I have no intention of going back on my words!" (Mayumi)

Hearing the determination behind Mayumi's words, Erik and the others knew that it would be meaningless to pursue the matter.

So they decided to move forward with their discussion.

"So what now? We are back to where we started..." (Hattori)

"Hm...since Mayumi has decided to veto the plan, I say, we expect the teams to give their best regardless of the outcome." (Erik)

"If push comes to shove, I will make sure to win the surprise event; whatever may it be." (Erik)

Erik spoke in a calm yet powerful tone, his strength, speed, and intelligence surpassed that of any other person within the room.

"Saltzman-san!? You need to think this through! You are already burdened with [Pillar-Break] and [Monolith Code] in the [Official Division]." (Hattori)

"Both of these events drain a lot out of energy from the participants with little to no time given to recover!" (Older Student)

"We don't want you to exhaust yourself while handling all three of these events!" (Older Student)

"Not to mention, we know nothing about the surprise event; not even the qualifications required to participate in the event are released as of yet!" (Hattori)

That's true!

Erik was already busy with two major events and him taking on another event; surprise event to be specific was just too much!

Unfortunately, Erik too had decided that it was better to be done with this competition as soon as possible.

After all, he had other major 'plans' in mind.

"It matters not, I have already decided to go through with my statements in the case, I have to... Let us hope for the best!" (Erik)

The day went by as the participates had some time to relax before the next session began.

The true competition was about to begin!

Later that day; during Mayumi's first match, she isn't able to yield a single point.

The irrelevant "argument" with her fiancee clouded her thoughts as she couldn't utilize her skills; losing the round in the process!

After the match ended, Mayumi didn't return to the pavilion but rather hid inside her room as she was scared to face her fiance, Erik.

She sat in the bathroom; crying after remembering her pathetic performance earlier in the First round.

*sob*

*sob*

Tears continued to pour down her face as her crimson eyes seemed unusually noticeable.

"How can I perform so bad!?" (Mayumi)

"How can I expect Erik to count on me if I am not even able to win such a simple match!?" (Mayumi)

*sob*

*sob*

*knock*

"Who's there!?" (Mayumi)

A loud shout left Mayumi's throat as she tightly hugged her body and activated her magic to strike at a moment's notice!

She had a fiancee and "purity" mattered a lot in the Japanese Community.

She mustn't allow anyone other than Erik to see her naked!

And that too; only after they have married each other!

Everything of Mayumi, from her soul to her body belonged to Erik and vice-versa!

If the word got out that someone other than Erik had seen her naked; even if it was false, her engagement will be ruined along with her image.

She will not tolerate, being separated from the love of her life!

"It's me, Mayumi..." (Erik)

Mayumi was immediately stunned by the voice of the intruder and started to stutter.

"Er-Erik..!? W-why...H-how did y-you get i-in th-the room!?" (Mayumi)

"Well, the door was open." (Erik)

"Also I wanted to talk to you about your performance in the first round." (Erik)

"I patiently waited for you to exit the bathroom but you have been camping in there for two hours, now." (Erik)

"So I had no other choice but to intrude, so please come out so that we can talk." (Erik)

"Pl-Please g-go Er-Erik, I d-don't wa-want to talk to you..." (Mayumi)

"Is it about the discussion we had with [The Council]? You did good, Mayumi!" (Erik)

"Arguments happen... It is not something to be taken seriously." (Erik)

"I-I kn-know, but please...I d-don't wa-want to talk!" (Mayumi)

"You are coming out or not?" (Erik)

Seeing Mayumi acting like a little girl, Erik decided to be a bit forceful; hoping that it would work.

"W-What!? Yo-You can't, Erik!" (Mayumi)

She completely submerged under the water; leaving only her head above the water and she continued to stutter.

Millions of scenarios started playing within her mind; each more indecent when compared to the previous one.

*creak!*

"Ok! Ok! I am coming out of the bathroom, please don't come in!" (Mayumi)

"Hm...you shouldn't overthink things; don't make me wait for too long." (Erik)

"There are things that need to be done." (Erik)

Mayumi quickly used her magic to dry herself; except her hair and changed in her pajamas.

She exited the bathroom; only to find Erik sitting on the bed as he looked right into her eyes.

*averts eyes*

"Come, sit beside me Mayumi." (Erik)

Erik spoke with rare gentleness, mixed with a pinch of authority within his voice.

Mayumi, like a good girl, obeyed and sat beside her fiancee.

Erik raised his palm; wearing black gloves and slowly untangled Mayumi's hair.

He used his magic to evaporate the water within her hair which was no longer wet.

After making sure that her hair was dry, he slowly extended his right-hand index finger and caressed her neck in a gentle motion.

"What happened during the match?" (Erik)

Mayumi, who had a blissful expression on her face spoke in an ashamed tone.

"The argument we had yesterday was dominating my thoughts during the match." (Mayumi)

"I was thinking that was it rude of me to oppose you in front of others; as your fiancee." (Mayumi)

In the Japanese Community, the wife is expected to unconditionally respect and support her husband while the husband is expected to listen to her suggestions and treasure her.

Even if Mayumi wasn't just Erik's wife as of yet, she was still his fiancee and soon-to-be wife.

Meaning that she must abide by these rules and follow them; a great example of this was Kanon and Isori, the former never questioned her fiancee's words.

"Stupid!...before being my fiancee, you are my friend." (Erik)

"You are your own person with your sense of right and wrong, even if our opinions do not match, it doesn't change anything." (Erik)

"Y-You are not mad at me?" (Mayumi)

"No, I am not you silly woman." (Erik)

Instead of answering her question, Erik leaned forward and kissed her on the cheek!

"Waaa!" (Mayumi)

She was first shocked but soon started to blush intensely.

Erik gently cupped Mayumi's head from behind using his right hand and connected their foreheads.

Looking deep into her eyes, he spoke in a gentle voice.

"I will love you no matter what happens and that wouldn't change with time." (Erik)

"So, believe in yourself and win this event, for me!" (Erik)

Tears appeared within Mayumi's eyes as she embraced Erik; wrapping her hands around his neck.

"Thank you!" (Mayumi)

*hic*

"Thank you so much!" (Mayumi)

*hic*

"I love you, I love so much!" (Mayumi)

*sob*

Erik simply smiled as he also embraced his fiancee and placed his chin on top of her head.

"The feelings mutual you silly woman." (Erik)
