In Another World?

"And so, another Isekai Light novel was written by a pathetic virgin with lots of free time."

-That pathetic virgin.

I can't narrate anything that happened to me before being transported to this world. So let's just start this when I'm already not confused about what is happening.

"Hmm... Huh?"

"Oh. You're awake!"

It all began when I suddenly woke up in a herbalist's clinic at a rural village in a country that seems to look and feel like Feudal Japan. It even has the same language, writing and hierarchial system.

"Hm... Is that so? Well, lost memories are one thing but don't worry. You can stay as long as you want."

He seemed to believe my story that I lost my memories and let me recover in his clinic without asking for a single cent.

I was there for about 3 days, doing nothing but to waver between sleeping and waking for several hours, trying to regain my strength.

That 3 days quickly passed and after saying the necessary words of appreciation to the old man who took me in, he gave me a week's worth of provisions, a dagger and his blessings as a former traveller, telling me to go to the next village as he wrote a letter to a woman who owes her money. He told me to use it well and live on.

And so, this peniless guy who has just arrived at this world has begun his new life... as a traveller that is.

"Fuuuwwaaaahhhh....."

My noisy yawn sounded like a kid who has just woke up from his afternoon nap.

"Where am I again?"

I began travelling about 2 weeks ago ever since I got to this world. I was able to evade hunger and thirst by picking fruits or catching fish at any streams that I passed by. Although I have a pouch filled with money, there wasn't a store in sight at this part of the countryside.

"Guuuu~!"

That cute yet loud sound that came from my stomach seemed to tell me that I need to get something to fill my mouth if I don't want to die soon.

As I looked down and walked to a river to clean my face, I noticed from the reflection cast by the moonlight on the surface of the water, that the haori coat I am wearing is already dirty from the dust and mud. It was given to me by an old woman from the previous village that I passed by. I wore it over a blue yukata that seemed to not blend well with the black haori.

As I stood up to continue my trek to the next village, I saw a cave with light coming from inside, I walked inside it while shivering from the cold gusts of wind in the field and went near the campfire to sit at a bump covered with a cloth.

"Hah... Warm... Ah-! What the...Ah...It's good that I didn't fell on the fire... Huh? A white horse?"

I shrieked as the bump behind me which I thought to be a rock moved and pushed me away. A horse with fur whiter than snow and eyes the glowed with a strong burning spirit peered out from its blanket and went back to sleep.

What is this horse doing here? There's even a lit fire and several things around here.

"Ah... I'm sorry... Was I bothering your rest?"

I saw several bloody bandages on the cave floor and when I peered over the rock that leads into the deeper parts of the cave, I saw a young man with several arrows stuck on his back, sittin in a seiza position.

"What are you... Ahh-!"

I tapped his shoulder only for his already rigid body to fall down and only then did I noticed that he was already dead.

"Haah... you deserve to at least be buried."

I dug a small square hole and dropped his body there along with every personal belongings that he had. It was weird for me to find someone who will die in such a peaceful place, maybe he was just attacked by some bandits... Poor guy...

The starry, evening sky was replaced by a fiery red dawn as soon as the sunrise came. It took me an entire evening to finish his burial so I only had 5 hours of sleep.

"I'll use everything that you have left to their full use... Please rest in peace."

I cupped a bunch of dirt using my hands and used it to cover the ashes from the camp fire. I took the big bag beside the horse and went near the horse who has just woken.

"Well then... let's go shall we?"

"Neeeeeiiiiiggghhhhh...."

"Huh? You're thirsty?"

I asked and it responded by swaying its head from side to side while looking at the floor.

"There there... drink up."

I took out a water pouch made of bamboo and it drank heartily as I emptied it towards its mouth.

"Let's go....Yah!"

The horse slowly trotted forward while I'm riding it. Though I did have experience on horse riding from the herbalist's donkey, its still similar with walking in total darkness... I'm just using common sense and textbook knowledge in these things.

"Hmm... we need to go over that mountain by noon or we won't get to any village..."

I spoke while holding a map on my hand and turning the reins using the other hand.

"Come on man, let's get there and rest by night."

By 9:00 AM (based on the position of the sun), I arrived at the downhill slope after reaching the overlaying slopes of the rough mountain filled with vegetation.

I stopped near a large shady oak tree to let my exhausted steed to rest its feet and graze on the grass. While resting, I rummaged on the big bag from the dead person and saw several books.

"Complete International Medical Encyclopedia, Mastering Surgery, Alternative and Natural Medicine, Firearms and Ballistic Encyclopedia, Naval and Maritime Engineering, Precepts in War and Military Affairs... Ah... Is something wrong with this world..?"

I spoke as I remembered that in my past life, I read several books from other fields of study apart from Engineering which was my actual profession. From the looks of this books, they are the exact same ones as the ones I have read.

"Huh? How to run a nation in the Sengoku era."

I've read the other books except this one that I found under the other ones. It has the silhoutte of a samurai and seemed to give off a strange aura.

"Heh...You've gotta be kidding me..."

I mumbled with a disappointed grin as I hurriedly stood up and gathered my belongings.

(Trasferred to another world + Totally suspicious book + Pseudo-Japan.)

The notion of being transferred to an another world and seeing such an unfamiliar object in my belongings is enough to convince me that something is really wrong with this world.

I did visited 3 villages but the only thing that I did was to buy food and to refill my water pouch.

"Come on big guy! Change of plans! We need to get out of here as soon as possible!"

I shouted as the horse stood up and turned towards me. I hurriedly rode it and made it sprint as far as possible.

If my knowledge about it hasn't dulled yet, battles in the Sengoku era of Japan are fought in plains and the faces of mountain slopes.

Therefore, my position is the one most probable to be fought over!

"Damn it!!!"

For several minutes, we ran away as far away as the eye can see and arrived near a stream where both of us stooped down to the water to drink up.

"Fuhaaah!!! I should fill the water pouch if ever we won't get to arrive at the village on time..."

I used the long bamboo water pouch in order to store enough water for the rest of my travels.

I gently stooped down and caught the cold water from the stream...

"Please... help me..."

A voice came inside a shrubbery near me. I slowly stood up and took out the dagger from my sleeve pocket.

"Who's there? Show yourself."

"Help...me...please...."

Hearing an almost inaudible voice coming from the group of plants, I sheated my blade and went forward.

"You are..."

"Please...Help me..."

There... I saw a female samurai wounded from head to toe... her shiny plate armor has been damaged with slashes and punctured by countless arrows. The dark blue yukata was indistinguishable from the blood stains of her wounds.

I can't see her face that was covered with blood and dirt. But one thing is for sure... If I won't do anything soon, she'll definitely die.

"Help me... Don't let me die..."

With a frail voice, almost begging to not yet die, she breathed roughly several times.

"Calm down... I will help you."
