The Subway Station

I was finally done with my shift. The moment the clock hit 1:00 pm I waited until the next person came in, gave her the apron and key, grabbed my stuff, and walked outside. I felt relieved the moment I had opened the door to feel the soft breeze and to hear nothing but trees brushing against each other and the sweet cricket lullaby. The streets were quiet as always, but it was better than the noisy people yelling at each other for some stupid reason, or hearing cars honking at each other. I followed the path that lead to the subway and listened to a few tunes on my phone. As I was nearing the corner, I made sure to turn my music off because of the homeless people that lived in the street. I walked pass them hearing their crackling breathing or groans of pain. As I was leaving the street, I felt something grab my arm and tug me back. I turned around only to see a old man staring at me.

".....Don't...go....."

I pulled away and quickly began to run to the stairs of the subway. I turned around to make sure he wouldn't follow me downstairs, but he stood there and didn't say anything. Then he yelled at me.

"DON'T GO!!!!!!"

I rushed down the stairs, paid, and got in. I was safe. I sat down and sighed in relief. I took out my phone and began to play games on it. That's when I saw it. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a man sitting at the far end of the subway, staring at me. I was actually surprised since usually there was never anyone else taking the subway when I'm heading home. I ignored him and continued to play games on my phone. When I looked up, he was staring at me again, but something was different. At first I didn't know what was wrong, until I realized that he had gotten much closer. I thought about it and didn't think anything bad, maybe he wasn't comfortable and needed to change seats. I decided just to stay calm and hoped that he would get off the next stop. When we arrived at the stop, I kept an eye on him, hoping that he would just leave. He sat there the whole time and soon the doors closed and I was still riding the subway with him. I was focusing on what to do, when he suddenly got up and began to bang his head against the wall. Every time he hit his head, he let out laughter and continued to do it. Then he stopped after seven minutes. I sat there and watched as his head laid against the wall, before his eyes darted to me and gave me a wide smile. He walked to me and stood right in front of me. I was scared of looking up, I could feel his eyes staring at me as I stayed still. Then I heard him start breathing heavily. I watched as he began to unbuckle his belt and slowly began to pull down his pants. At this moment my body refused to let anything bad happen to me, so I shoved him back, making him hit the floor. He began to scream violently and started shaking on the floor. I tried to move away, but he grabbed my leg and pulled it causing me to fall down on my face. I began to kick at him as he tried to crawl on me. I managed to punch him in the face and also managed to kick him in his balls. I crawled to the end of the subway and tried to stand up. As I tried to get up I felt two hands grab around my throat and felt my head bash onto the metallic wall. I couldn't breathe well. I kicked and hit him, but he wouldn't let go. My vision began to get blurry and I felt like my struggling was getting weaker. That's when a miracle happened. The ride came to a sudden halt causing the person to fall back. He must have hit himself pretty hard since he had let go. I began to breathe heavily and every gasp for air felt amazing. I realized why there was a sudden halt. My stop was here. I made a run for it and so did the guy. I could hear him behind me as I was climbing up the stairs. I managed to get out of the subway and flag down a car that was ahead of me. I turned around to see the guy running the opposite way. I began to cry as the person came out of the car and asked me if I was okay. I tried to explain what had happened, but I was crying too much. The cops were called, but there was no sign of him. Eventually a few days passed and I noticed the man who I had encountered last time. I managed to talk to him, but he told me something that scares me to this day.

" You've made him upset! Run child! He's never left any of his victims live! He's coming for you now!!!!"

He began pointing behind me. As I turn around, I fear begins to take over as I see a familiar face with a wide smile walking among the crowd in my direction.
