"Activate Trinity Gem, resurrect Reed Regardius."
The air became dense, compressing into a singularity. The lights flickered. The shackles shook. Nebulous orbs of light were pulled towards the dead body, revitalizing it with life.
His eyes snapped open, immediately reacting to the brightness that severely burned his eyes. He screamed in agony as his eyes could see nothing but pure white that stained his sight.
"Hmm…" A man with glasses stroked his chin. "Seems like his Resistor expired. Inject a new one."
An Angel walked up to the boy strapped to the bed. He pulled out a thick needle, injecting it right into the boy's temple.
"URG-!" The boy flinched. His eyes suddenly burned no more. He could now make out shapes and dimensions through what he saw. It was no longer a continuous bright white.
He was panting. He looked around with the extent he could turn his head. Everything around him was pure white. He observed 3 Angels that stood in the room he was in. Straight ahead was a wide window through which he could see the very manifestation of his hatred.
"Good morning Mr. Regardius. It's been three days since your last breath."
The boy's eyes widened. His face flushed red, ready to unleash his fury.
"It wouldn't do you too good to be vexed at the moment. The gem has merely brought you back to life. Your internal injuries however, are not completely healed at the moment."
The man's voice spoke through a speaker, connected to a microphone inside his own room. Sitting next to him, was a man holding a pen and clipboard.
"Knowing that, try not to aggravate him. Ariel doesn't want to be wasting anymore of the Garden's resources on your experiments, Raphael."
The man took a deep breath, seemingly displeased. He turned to look down at the man gripping his pen. "Ariel told you this, Matthew?"
"Yes."
Raphael felt himself begin to heat up again, but the drugs kicked in before he could lash out. He exhaled in response.
"That woman still hasn't understood the value in what I'm doing? How unfortunate. What she doesn't see, what the rest of them don't see, is that we are harboring an extremely valuable individual. Why he was left outcast during the choosing of experimentees, still does not occur to me. Though it did leave him to my possession, therefore I am thankful."
Matthew listened with absence.
"Just don't kill him again."
Raphael's passionate expression fell unto monotony. He stared blankly. He was thinking.
"We will make Serum D then."
Matthew responded with surprise. "Serum D?"
Raphael continued to stare into space. "If the subject dying is a concern, that means he isn't durable enough. We need to improve his durability to the extent that he can endure all physical harm."
Matthew now listened with interest. Raphael continued.
"We might as well improve his physical strength too while we're at it."
"But isn't he already strong enough? He was able to take down 93 Angels in the last exhibit. Improving his strength would result in a-"
"Monster." Raphael smiled.
Matthew looked at him with concern.
Raphael snapped back into reality and began walking towards the microphone. He hesitated before enabling it, turning towards Matthew.
"Inform Mr. Regardius of the news. If I told him myself, he'd probably lose his temper and wreak havoc again."
You're one to speak, Matthew thought.
"Exhibit D will start two days from now. Until then, make sure he isn't fed. Nutrients will interfere with the serum."
Raphael then began walking towards the room exit, but turned his head before he could leave.
"Keep him in the Cell of Solitude until then, and let Michael know that we'll be using more of his Angel units again, this time, including some Seraphim."
Raphael then walked out the room.
Matthew sighed. He stood up and enabled the microphone to speak into the room. The boy strapped to the bed watched him with malice.
"Subject Reed Regardius, you will be tested for another serum exhibit two days from now. Until then, you will undergo fasting while being kept in solitary confinement. Angels, you may wheel him to the Cell of Solitude."
An Angel approached the boy on the bed, injecting a thinner needle into his arm before he could react aggressively. The boy passed out immediately. The other two Angels then grabbed opposite ends of the bed and wheeled him out of the room. The last Angel followed behind. They were off towards the Cell of Solitude.
Matthew watched their exit, then exhaled when he was finally left alone. He sat back down and grabbed his pen and clipboard. He wrote the update on a new sheet of paper:
{ Serum Exhibit D has been confirmed. Overseer Raphael aims to achieve improved physical durability, and improved physical strength for the subject. Subject will be kept in the Cell of Solitude over a two day period. Subject will not be provided any daily meals over said two day period. Extra Angel Units will be used for Serum Exhibit D, alongside additional Seraphim. Report by Matthew Hugh, for subject: Reed Regardius. }
