Impending Quietus

The overlighting whiteness of the tight high-ceiling halls dimmed through a dying emission that progressed through each step taken. Each step taken stained dejection onto the floor; despair followed the path alleviating life from the atmosphere. Life from the atmosphere was polluted by an unavoidable feeling of grief. Grief was induced by the guaranteeing death. Death was his personification which would leave no breath.

Raphael's attention strayed from Midas to the distressing aura that turned into the hallway. Approaching, a darkened white-suited figure laid his head low. His long dark brown hair nearly drooping over his entire face. His white combat suit was marked with black accents that lined his entire body. Death inched in ever so close.

"If it isn't the Angel of Death himself," Raphael happily greeted the man. He shared no response.

Raphael smiled, "Thank you for responding to my call Azrael."

"I only know how to kill," he said.

"I know," Raphael pointed to Reed within Chamber X, fending off incoming Seraphim. "Your target's right there."

Azrael looked, and paused. "Your subject?"

"Yes. Reed Regardius; he's unstoppable at the moment, but you might be the only one who can stop him right now."

"I will stop him, there's no 'might'. I'll kill him and that'll be it. Are you sure about this Raphael?" Azrael asked.

"Yes I'm sure."

Azrael pressed forth. "Do you understand that death by my hands is irreversible, no matter the means?"

"That's if he even dies to your hands."

Azrael froze. "You doubt my inevitable ability?"

"I just have faith in my subject."

The two then stared each other down. Azrael with a distasteful face, Raphael with a smug one. Azrael disliked the amount of confidence Raphael had.

"Just know that when I kill him, resurrection with a Trinity Gem won't work."

Raphael ignored him.

Azrael sighed. He walked towards the entrance to the chamber.

"Let me in," he knocked on the locked doors.

"I'll open it from the observatory," Raphael said. He walked further down the hall to meet Matthew back in the observatory room.

Midas and Venus stood there, having witnessed everything.

Angel of Death...

Inevitable ability…

As if hearing about Reed's immortality ability was enough, he now bore witness to the absolute embodiment of death; a hand by which shall guarantee the loss of a life.

"This is about to get really interesting…"

Inside Chamber X, Reed had finally smashed in the face of the last of the Seraphim. But a noise suddenly blared from the entry doors to the chamber, followed by Raphael who spoke on the intercom.

"Well done Mr. Regardius, you've wiped out a significant chunk of Angel and Seraphim Units from Michael's Angel infantry. You've not only proven to be of great use to A.X.A., but as well as a great threat to A.X.A.; a hindrance if you will. Now to truly test your capabilities, I now put you to the ultimate test."

The chamber's entry doors disengaged its locks, revealing a threat who then walked in.

Watching this on the other side of the window, Midas closed his eyes, concentrating his thought. Now inside Chamber X, were two extremely overwhelming auras that clashed in opposition.

Wrath versus Death.

"Overseer Azrael here has been bestowed the unforgiving authority to exact death on those intended. And right now, you are of intention. Good luck Mr. Regardius."

Raphael then turned off the mic. He leaned over to Matthew who sat with his pen and clipboard.

"All those Angels and Seraphim with their deaths were merely for the purpose of provoking the true test to our hypothesis. Exhibit D has only truly just begun."
