Irregularity

Slam!

Jophiel's body hit the floor, confirming his death with a splash of blood.

"Overseer Jophiel…" Gian-Luca watched him empty of blood. He turned to the rest of the subjects. "There's no going back now."

Ian nodded his head. "We've killed an Overseer. We have no choice but to leave this place."

"We're still waiting on Midas and Venus…" Veronica said.

"But in the mean time, what're we gonna do with her?" Vidia pointed to Ariel, floating still.

"Sleep," Ian said.

Ariel's wings immediately stopped flapping, as her head cocked back. She began falling towards the ground, and eventually slammed into it too.

"Did she… die?"

"No, most definitely not. She isn't nearly worn down enough to die to a fall like that. She's just sleeping for now, and I'll keep her like this until we get back to the surface." Ian looked at Gian-Luca. "Can you wipe her memories of everything that's happened in the past 20 minutes? We can't have Ariel keeping recollection of the optimistic values I've imposed on her, otherwise it'll give her a direct clue as to how and where we escaped. We can't have her following us."

"But I doubt she'll follow us," Veronica said. "Did you hear her and Jophiel's conversation moments ago? It seems to me they'd be treated similarly as us if we were exposed to the public on the surface."

"As irregulars…" Gian-Luca repeated. "No matter what we do, we're all irregularities huh…"

Vidia questioned; "Does that mean, even when we do escape to the surface, we're convicts?"

Ian nodded. "Basically. We're escapees to A.X.A., and runaways from this 'Cardinal Nexus' Jophiel seemed to be talking about. From what he's said; 'you'd be sentenced to an immediate death by the Cardinal Nexus', I can only assume that this 'Cardinal Nexus' is a form of authority or government in that world on the surface."

The four blundered their minds with heavy thoughts. Veronica spoke up; "So even when we do escape, there really is no escape from danger in general."

"I guess…" Gian-Luca frowned.

"We'll just have to wait and see."
