Heavy, warm, air brushed against Midas' skin as he re-entered the bay through its entry doors. Standing atop the flight of stairs, he looked past the expanse of vehicles expecting a violent sight to unfold. Violent it was, but unexpectedly over.
Below the feet of his comrades including Venus who'd just arrived before him, were the unconscious bodies of both Overseer Ariel and Jophiel.
Midas rushed over, sweeping past the countless white vans that grazed his clothing.
"W-What happened?"
Venus turned over his shoulder. "Apparently they took the both of them down…" He seemed surprised, and more evidently shocked. It was quite a revelation after all, that the very people who he doubted the most were able to turn the tables on such powerful individuals.
"More precisely, we got Ariel to fall under my control-ability to kill Jophiel," Ian corrected.
"So… the both of them are dead?" Midas looked at the gaping wound in Jophiel's chest.
"Jophiel is, but Ariel's just unconscious. Luca wiped her memories of everything that happened ever since she came here, and I've timed her sleep to awaken hours from now."
Midas nodded, impressed. "I like the number of precautions taken. Good job." He turned to the rest of the group, and pulled out the keys.
"Not sure if Venus already told you guys, but we managed to kill Chamuel too." He dangled the keys forward, "And we got these off of him."
Veronica's eyes brightened at the sight. "L-Let's get out of here then!" She was excited with anxiety.
Everyone got into their previously designated pairs and walked to their own vans; Midas following each one and unlocking the doors one-by-one, as well as initiating each one's engine.
Starting his own, the van's dashboard was lit up with a cyan-lighted interface. Something then stuck out to him; it was a touchable screen similar to one he'd seen in the communications office. Both had a dial-like circle that could be rotated by swiping one's finger back on forth on it. Doing so would display an array of number sequences whenever the dial's indicator landed on a specific point.
"This must be communication frequencies… like a radio station!" Midas dashed over to the others' vans. "Everyone switch to the frequency 10.13! We'll be able to communicate to each other within our separate vans."
Everyone did so, and Midas returned to his van. "I'll drive," he told Venus.
"Why?"
"You have ranged capabilities. If the situation ever arises that we need to defend ourselves within this car, you have the ability to do exactly that." Midas came to a realization; "And with that in mind, we should be the last ones in line for our convoy." He leaned over and switched the dashboard's frequency to 10.13. "Ian, Veronica, I want you two to lead the way out. Me and Venus will follow last, just in case we have anyone tailing us."
"Does that mean we ride in between you two?" Gian-Luca replied through the frequency.
"Yep. In front of us, and behind Ian and Veronica."
"Got it."
Ian and Veronica's van began moving forward, with Gian-Luca and Vidia following behind. Finally, Midas and Venus pulled in behind the two, and now the three vans were currently on route towards their freedom.
