The school bell rung and the students were released from their classes. A particular student made his way to the library's bathroom where students rarely visited. Securing himself an empty stall, he pulled a chip out of his pocket and hooked it to his ear.
"I've found myself an isolated spot. Come in."
The other end of the receiver replied back. "Hear you loud and clear 'Gula'. How was school today?"
He scoffed. "Good. Successful."
"You 'wiped' the target?"
"Affirmative. "
"Good, good…" The person on the other end sighed. "Your job isn't over yet though."
"Why? I wiped William's memories and knowledge of the course completely…"
"I know. But you know that other boy you spoke to today?"
"Harvey?"
"Yeah. I've checked into Xavier Education's student grade system. He's the next highest grade right under William. With William 'wiped,' he's now currently the new top prospect."
"So…"
"Gian-Luca, 'wipe' Harvey please."
He smirked. "No need to be so condescending, Midas."
"My bad. We just need all the high average prospects out of the way, then that way no one'll meet the minimum average to attend internships at the Nexus."
"And why do we need to do this?"
"To chip away at the Nexus, little-by-little. Major damage starts from unnoticeable movements. Doing it that way, we can catch them by surprise. They won't realize what hit them until it's too late."
"As vague as ever, but I understand you have a larger picture at play."
"I do..." Midas nodded to himself. "Just 'wipe' Harvey and then we're good. But I'm gonna keep my eye on the student grade system. If any of your classmates' averages rise above the 90% threshold, be prepared to use your ability on them. Don't be surprised if I instruct you to 'wipe' the entire class one day…"
"I understand…"
"Thanks Gian-Luca. Keep it up."
The signal was then cut off.
