Chapter 39

The day was finally here.

His body felt weak and afraid to face the mythical creature whereas his soul felt determined and victorious.

But was that really enough for him to win against the mythical creature that was rising tonight?.

The mythical creature was more trained and skillful than him. He wasn't sure what powers it exactly held but it had to be so powerful that they had it locked up years ago.

He would stand no chance against the mythical creature, it was older, smarter and stronger.

Plutonic hadn't even talked to him. It hurt Lucky to know that he was now inferior to his Father. He meant nothing to Plutonic anymore.

He was by himself now. Lucky knew that Akaya wanted to be part of his life but he didn't trust her enough. He needed a mother figure in his life but not her even though she was his real mom, he couldn't accept her.

He just couldn't.

He was better of alone without any parent figure cause if his Father could shut him out like that then his Mother could do the same.

He was better off alone without any parent figure.

Lucky looked outside the window to his room. It was raining heavily.

The sky was covered by dark clouds and the fat rain drops were visible. Audibly hitting against the window he was looking through.

The current weather made it a little dark so one would think that it was evening yet it was during the morning hours.

He took out three candles and lit them not because he needed the light, but because he needed to do a small ritual for himself. Something that he had learnt back in the druid school.

Lucky took out a knife and slit his palm, blood poured out in fat drops which he quickly let them drop on the lit candles before the wound could close and heal up.

"To the Phoenix gods and my Golden fiery red ancestors. I seek your blessings this day. May the power of the earth course through my veins from now till my death". He spoke softly.

"If I die today at least let me have the star in my grasp". He said to himself as his eyes looked up at the clouds through the window from the candles he had been looking at earlier.

"I'm not afraid of death but I'm afraid he doesn't care about me anymore. Has he forgotten that today his son is going to face the mythical creature tonight?". Lucky asked himself.

He sighed and decided to go to the bathroom to freshen up. With his hand on the door knob, he felt some drops of water and wind hit him. He turned to look at the window.

It was now open and the candles he had lit up were no where to be seen. He stopped and looked around.

How had he missed whatever had happened?. Wait, what had happened?.

He wasn't sure what had taken place nor what had been there in his room but it certainly wasn't something out of the ordinary.

He didn't trust his feet anymore so instead of going to the window to see what had happened closely or going to the bathroom to freshen up as was his earlier plan, he quickly left his room.

He was just sixteen and he was allowed to be in fear at times.

"Do they call you cirrus or cumulus?". The Jade Being asked as he looked down at the cloud in front of him.

The cloud shook a little.

"I don't know what you said but I assume one of the names I said is yours". Jade Being answered.

The cloud shook again.

'This cloud is as interesting as it's owner'. He thought to himself with a raised brow as he watched the cloud with interest.

"You know who I am so I'll go straight to the point. I need you to go to your owner's place and take anything that has his blood on it. It's urgent and you have to be fast so that he won't notice you". Jade Being explained.

The cloud rose a little from it's earlier position on the forest floor.

"I mean him no harm. I need you to take whatever object you'll take from him to the cloud fiery dragon's place which I'm sure you know where it is. Leave the object there". Jade being paused. "That's all, you don't have to do anything else".

'His blood will spike the dragon's interest and he'll obviously go in search of Gregory. I need him trained as soon as possible meaning tonight I'll make sure that he doesn't get seriously injured by Ferlio at any cost'. The Jade Being thought again.

The cloud did nothing. Maintaining it's position and didn't even move an inch.

"Are you looking at me or what?. If only you had a face for me to know your expressions but nonetheless, you're a magical cloud you can turn invisible and he won't even see you. He's your owner even if he catches you, he won't punish you. As for the dragon, he won't ask you either". Jade Being tried to persuade the cloud which seemed to be hesitant.

"Do this for me and the world okay?. I'll give you a charm to keep you safe from nimbus cloud then". Jade being proposed.

'Perhaps I need to bribe this cloud'.

The cloud drew closer to him.

'Seems I was right. Bribing does work'.

"That caught your interest eh?". Jade Being asked with a smirk. "Guess that's a deal then?".

The cloud shook then immediately took off into the direction of the FireWing's mansion. Earning a wider smirk from the Jade Being.

"Lucky. Rufus and Dzarma are leaving tonight!". Ambrose exclaimed on the other end of the call.

"Make sure you get to know where they're heading to and report it back to me". Lucky replied.

"I will".

"Be careful". Lucky said.

"I will. Talk to you later". Ambrose answered then hanged up. Lucky placed the phone on his desk and stood up. It was time for him to move.

He wasn't going to give Rufus the star nonetheless, he needed to know where Rufus was going to at least protect him from the inevitable.

"Son?". He stopped on the first staircase. His left hand was on the rail.

Akaya came to stand in front of him on the staircase below. "Son, I'm here for you. I'll be there for you".

Lucky just blinked and looked at her.

"Here's a herb I found. It'll help you with any injuries you'll incur during the fight". Akaya said as she extended a small bag that had the said herbs. "Please take it. You'll need it".

Lucky looked at her then down at the small bag and back at her. Not sure whether to take it or not.

"Did you learn how to use the crossbow?". Akaya asked. She was worried about him and here he was, not saying a word to her.

He sighed and opened his mouth to speak but then shut it with another sigh.

Akaya tool that as a "No".

"Don't worry I'm sure in one way or another, you'll be able to beat the mythical creature. Son, I have faith in you". Akaya said in a small voice and nod of head to emphasize on her point. Her eyes were not leaving his.

"It's not a crossbow it's a longbow without a string nor an arrow". Lucky said as he stretched out his hand and took the small bag from Akaya's hand. "Thank you for this. I'm sure it'll help".

Akaya smiled at that. At least he didn't reject her help.

"I'll be on my way now". Lucky said. "Excuse me".

He tried to move past her but she blocked his way. He gave her a questioning look.

Akaya gave out a small smile, "I'll come with you".

He just looked at her and said nothing. Perhaps having a parent figure around wasn't that bad.

He walked away with her following close. She prayed within her that he'd not shut her out anymore. That perhaps from today he would not push her away. She needed him as much.

"Rufus hurry up!". Dzarma shouted.

"I'm coming!. I'm coming!". Rufus shouted back as he swung his duffel bag over his shoulder and came to the living where Dzarma was waiting for him.

"We'll walk to the next town where a bus will be waiting for us". Dzarma explained.

"As long as I get lots of food and water after walking hehe". Rufus chuckled as he remembered his last experience after walking for the whole night and half of the day.

"Don't worry about that". Dzarma answered as he held the straps of his bag with one hand while the other held the keys to his house. "Let's go".

Rufus nodded and walked out, Dzarma following behind so as to shut the door behind him.

"Let me say 'hello' to the new phase of my life". Rufus mumbled to himself as he took in a deep breathe of the cold air outside with a huge smile plastered on his face.
