First thing I noticed when I arrived was the stench. Blood, so much so that everything seemed to be dyed red.
"Well it definitely seems appropriate to be called the Blood Trials. To think I've come from an ordinary 21st Century man that couldn't find a job to an ancient battlefield where gods and goddesses died."
Using Scrying, an ability of The Void, I couldn't find any living being, no, it seemed to be devoid of everything...
Suppressing the urge to throw up, I kept moving forwards. As I kept walking through the battlefield, I finally saw what I believed to be a.... big ass wall.
And when I say big, I mean HUGE, even gate could dwarf the tallest skyscraper on Earth. Now logic dictates that these gates were used by these gods and goddesses...
Arriving at the a gate much smaller, presumably for those of small size like humans, stood Guards, checking something before letting people in line through the gate.
30 minutes later it was my turn. As the guard started to look at me with his narrowed eyes, I couldn't help but ask, "Is there something on my face?."
The guard in question twitched slightly. "No, what is someone as you doing here? Don't you know that there is currently a war going on?"
"No sir. I didn't. I'm on my Blood Trials." And as soon as I said those words, my surroundings turned deathly quite.
People in the crowed all of a sudden back off and they all started whispering to each other.
"An Asura!? I thought they were myths?"
"Blood Trials? To think they send them so young."
"I heard a rumor when I was a child that no one has ever made it back... But even now it's worse as everyone has to be enlisted to fight of the Demons and Devils."
Hearing the whispers of the crowed, I was internally happy, as I found somewhere I could let loose and practice my martial skills.
Looking at the guard, who seemed colder then before I asked, "May I enter the city?"
"So a reject from the Asura Clan? I hope you don't die out there. Here is your card, head straight through the road, turn left when you see the Military Library and you should see the Recruitment office. Head in there and say you are here to enter the war."
Walking through the gate, one could practically feel an ancient and majestic vibe radiating off the city. Walking further down the road I could feel a heavy pressure on my soul, as if the dead gods were telling me back off. Knowing full well that this is what a Godhood practitioner Divine Essence would feel like and what it could do, I quickly make my way to the Recruitment Office and get my papers sorted. With 5 days left to spare till I have to be at the barracks, I head to where the most density of Divine Essence was.
My Invisibility and Intangibility skills up I head further in the city, where upon I see was a Church which depicted 12 different Gods and Goddesses around the front wall.
"Seems like the catacombs of the 12 Gods and Goddesses, they must have moved their dying or dead body within the church. Hopefully the density will pick up, with this much I can strengthen my soul even further and refine their Divinity and get some knowledge."
In the Clans library it was said that if one could refine Divine Essence they could strengthen their soul, gain knowledge of the person it belonged to and if you're lucky one can get the Divinity of the Gods and Goddesses. Or use Divine Essence to revive the Gods and Goddesses but with a War Sage cultivation level. Now using these facts I'm guessing the people at the Church must be trying to revive them.
Phasing through the building undetected, I head under ground where I find big hall with 12 huge doors with the respective God or Goddesses statue on either side.
Heading to the nearest one, which seemed to belong to what seems to be a God of War, "Why does he look like Ares from the Greek Pantheon? Nah, must be tripping."
Reaching the door, I tried to open the gate but even with my strength doesn't seem enough, so using Matter Manipulation I disintegrate a small portion of the door. And as soon as I opened up the hole....
