The New Guy

"As of today, the vigilante is still unknown--"

Senior Superintendent Nikolas Chen turned off the TV. He sighed as he put down the remote and massaged his head.

"So how's everything going on your division?" his wife asked as she placed his tea on the table.

"A big mess." He grunted while he continued to massage his temple.

"Let me..." His wife stood and positioned herself at his back. She massaged his temple. He relaxed a bit.

"I don't know if I should be relieved as they decided to put up a special task force that will focus on the case." He started to explain.

"Why? You will not be in charge?"

"No. The Interpol will send an agent that will handle the group and the case."

"They are involved now?" He heard a slight surprise from her voice.

"Yes. This an international case now, considering that this bastard killed a Mexican drug lord." He muttered.

"So what will happen to you?"

"I will focus on other cases." He was half-hearted. He knew that this case was a hard one but a big shot as well to his career. But this cold case means also a great deal to handle. It will either reward him or kill him with stress.

The Assistant Commissioner told him on the phone that they will be having a conference meeting tomorrow with the new agent from Interpol. He asked him to assign some officers that will contribute to the success of this case. He already chose 5 special police officers.

"That vigilante really knows who to kill huh..." His wife said out of the blue.

"It is still against the law." He replied.

"Well, indeed, it is not right to take a person's life, but come to think of it, isn't he helpful in eliminating your headaches?" His wife asked teasingly.

"But he is more of a headache to bear." He retorted. His wife chuckled.

Tomorrow is a new chapter for this complicated case. With the new guy in town.

------------------------------

Assistant Commissioner Allan Park entered the conference room. A tall man followed him.

There were already six people waiting inside. They stood up and saluted as soon as they saw the Asst. Commissioner. Among them was Senior Superintendent Nikolas Chen.

The Asst. Commissioner waved at them and motioned them to sit down. He walked straight to the front and stood at the corner of the table. He eyed the man that stood beside him.

Sr. Superintendent Chen and the other officers looked at the man.

"I want to introduce to you the Head of the Criminal Investigation from Interpol, Sr. Inspector Jason Davis. He will be the overall in-charge on this case."

Sr. Inspector Jason Davis bowed at them.

The surprised look was written all over the officers' faces. They never expected him to be so young. The man seemed he just graduated from university. He looked like he was just in his early 30's. He seemed somewhat Asian and foreign at the same time.

But Sr. Superintendent Chen knew better. He could see an aura of authority and firmness in this guy. His eyes were cold and hard.

"Sr. Superintendent will brief you about this case. Sorry that I have to leave you soon. The Deputy Commissioner is waiting for me. Good luck." The Asst. Commissioner said to Sr. Inspector Davis and he patted his shoulder. The man bowed in return.

As soon as the Asst. Commissioner closed the door, Sr. Superintendent Chen stood up and walked towards Sr. Inspector Davis. He offered his hand to greet him.

Inspector Davis shook it.

"It is a great honor to have you here and work with us." Superintendent Chen formally said.

"The pleasure is mine." Inspector Davis answered.

"I would like to introduce to you first the members of this task force before we proceed with the case." Superintendent Chen looked at the group at the table.

"The leader of this group is Chief Inspector Harison Koh. He is already one of the investigators of this case. It will be a lot easier for you if you have someone who knows the details of the case."

Chief Inspector Koh stood up and bowed at them. He was the eldest among the group. He was a short and chubby man in his 50's. He was there at the crime scene of Alberto Gierro. The chief of the investigators.

"Sergeant Leo Han is from our Drug Enforcement Unit. He is the best officer-in-charge and a combat trainer as well."

The man with a bulked body stood up and bowed. He was tall and seemed fearless.

"Lieutenant Officer Romeo Yen is from our Medical and Forensic Unit. He graduated from Harvard with flying colors."

A geeky man stood up and bowed. He wore thick eyeglasses but his eyes were direct and serious.

"Lieutenant Officer Aira Wong is from our Operations and Logistics Unit. She is the head of the IT and researchers team."

Lt. Aira Wong stood up and bowed. She was tall, lean, and attractive. She might have a body to die for but beware of her mind as well. She could kill just with her ideas.

"Lieutenant Officer Lexi Liu is from our Intelligence Unit. She is one of our best undercover agents."

Lt. Lexi Liu stood up and bowed. She smiled cheerfully. She looked like the youngest among the members with her blue eyeglasses. But in reality, she was older than Aira and Leo. Her face had delicate features and she had those kind brown eyes when you stared at her.

Davis looked at them one by one. He was studying them.

"We chose the best officers we have here. They are all well trained in combat and investigative skills. They were top of their classes and unit." Sr. Superintendent Chen proudly said.

"That's good to hear. I guess it would be natural for me to expect a lot from this group, then?" Inspector Davis said and smiled at them.

Superintendent Chen stared at the new guy. There was really something about him that was really intimidating. He just could not point it out.

"Sure. We all hope that this special task force will be a great contribution to close this case." Chen smiled back at him.

"Looking forward to it." Davis smiled once more before his face turned serious. "Shall we start now with the discussion?"

"Alright. Lt. Wong, please do distribute all the files." Chen said before he turned to the monitor.

A photo of a black figure appeared on the big screen. It was the faceless vigilante.
