I made my way towards her, and soon as I reached in front of her, she didn't waste any time and jumped on me, yelling congrats to me continuously. I laughed at her reaction and wrapped my hands around her too, to prevent her from falling as she was wrapped around me. I was still sharing my thought an unexpected yet joyful thought lingered in my head.
Krystal was still hugging and congratulating me when I whispered in her ear, "Krystal can you help me... don't dare yell okay."
She smiled and nodded her head, while she loosened her grip on me and I continued, "Help me; I want Jacob to get jealous." I could hear Krystal giggle; she again gave a nod before parting from the bone-breaking hug.
I smiled at her before turning to Jacob, who was looking at us with his sparkly eyes. "You seem extremely excited Krystal," Jacob said after he gave a polite hug to Krystal; and receiving her wishes. "Of course I am why I wouldn't be happy. You know 2 years back when I proposed him, he rejected me that time I got a thought that maybe he wasn't interested in a girl but I thought it was just my imagination but then I saw him flirting with one of my college, and I still managed to think I was wrong, but now it is proved." She replied nonchalantly which made my eyes widen as none of her words were true.
"When did she ever proposed me and when did I ever flirted with my coworker, is she drunk early in the morning," I said to myself, but when I gave another thought, I realized that she was trying to build up a story so that he can make Jacob jealous.
"Hey! Why are you bringing up your proposal, all of a sudden? And I told you that I liked that coworker, but we ended it in a few months. So keep quiet I don't want to brush back those memories. But still that guy was so sweet and caring and oh god! The way he..." I said and then went quiet when Krystal cut me off, I tried my best to act serious and maybe that worked because when I glanced at Jacob, a noticeable frown was decorating his features.
"You told me not to talk about him, and now you are all over him again, and you know what, you are such a considerate and helpful guy I think I will fall for you again." She understood my sign and continued the act.
"Friendship goals," I said in my head as I saw Krystal coping up with my story.
"Don't say that... oh! Sorry Jac I forgot that you were here. I am sorry." I continued as I tried to act embarrassed about exposing my ex-love life in front of my present boyfriend.
"No, no, it's okay. I think I should leave now I am getting late." He said as he smiled at me, "won't he react." I questioned myself as there was no touch of jealousy on his face.
I sighed as my shoulders draped down in a disappointment. I felt Krystal hand on mine and he whispers made me perk my ear, "don't worry Mason." I smiled at her. I once again looked at Jacob =, and then noticed that a few of the coworkers came to us and asked,
"Hey Krystal, I think you are going to talk for a few more minutes, so just give me the keys of the main locker room, so that we can go inside. I want to take some of my stuff from my locker."
"Why not wait, let me see it in my bag." She replied and I still looked at the worker.
"Hey! Mason, how have you been? It's been a long since we talked or went outside." He said to me as he made eye contact with me and waved his hand in front of me. I mimicked the action of the guy who stood in front of me, he had approximately the same height as me, and I nodded my head agreeing to his fact.
"Why don't you join me today, let's go to dinner as we used to, at our usual place." He asked and that's when I remembered that we used to go to a noodle shop near our workplace.
"I think he can't as we have a date today, so I don't think he can join you." A voice went through my ears sending shivers through my spine. Coldness and anger were dripping continuously in that voice. My plan may be worked but I believed that it backfired on me, as his voice was terrifying me. I turned my head toward Jacob, who was wearing a poker face. I gulped a lump that formed in my throat.
"Oh! I never knew you had a boyfriend." The guy in front of me again spoke.
"Y... ye... yes," I replied to his question, I could feel a pair of eyes boring holes in my back of the head.
After Krystal handed them the key, they went away, leaving me Jacob, and Krystal alone. I hesitantly smiled at Jacob and said, "You should go now, or you will be late." He unexpectedly didn't reply me, I waited for an answer, but a hand snaked around my waist out of the blue, as he pulled me towards him, without giving me any forewarning. My head hit his chest as his index finger made its way under my chin, making me look at him.
"Remember you have me now, so don't dare think about any other guy, you are my man, I won't bear you thinking or getting close to any other guy, I may sound overprotective but that's how it is." He said in his stern voice and after completing her words he gave a peck on my forehead, changing the color of my face, as a tint of crimson red trailed all over my face.
I nodded my head as I was at a loss of words, and was out of strength too, as I felt my legs getting wobbly, all of my energy was drained away by an action of my boyfriend. We stared into each other's eyes when a smack on my head brought me out of my dreamland. "Ouch," I winced in pain and looked at Krystal, who hit me mercilessly.
"We are getting late you lover boy, if you don't want a decrease in your salary move your fucking, lovey-dovey ass from here," Krystal said as she turned her phone to show me the time, I realized I was already late. I released myself from Jacobs grip and ran inside after bidding a bye.
I smiled as I made my way inside and kept my stuff in the locker. I glanced at the coworkers who were doing the same as me. I ignored them as I paced towards the shelves and performed my daily work.
Everything was like a dream come true, or maybe more than that as getting together with him and him calling me his man was something I never even thought in my dreams and after I heard them with his mouth it was like I got everything in my life and I could rest in peace now, when I thought about it I sounded like a crazy teenager who is all over boys but my heart was getting excited as if there was no tomorrow and the heat which generated on my face, because of Jacob's word was still setting on my face.
I tried so hard to maintain my composure during my working hours, I almost zoned out for god knows how n=many times and was brought back to my senses by Krystal, "if you zoned out this time I am really going to rip open you brainless skull. You understand" she warned as she shook me.
"I am sorry; I just can't help but think about it. It is like I am living a dream." I smiled.
"Mason, please stop acting like a cringed and crazy lover boy. I know you love him but you are hurting a single lady here, you know my heart can't bear this." She said as she tried to act hurt and put one of her hands on her chest.
"Sorry, sorry I won't do that again." I replied and moved towards the next shelf after I placed the last few books,
"but Mason I am really happy for you, I can't express how happy I feel.' She said as she followed me because she didn't have any work.
"Thank you, Krystal." I smiled at her as I turned towards her.
"well, you better thank me because I was the one who told him that I know you both like each other and that's how he got to know that you liked him too. "She replied, leaving me stunned at her words.
"DID YOU REALLY TELL HIM THAT?" I shouted, getting everyone's attention, which resulted in getting a few, shh's from them. I bowed to them as I apologized to them and again turned back to Krystal, who was unfazed by her words.
"So what mason, it worked after all you are together now and will always be, so don't think about it. Let the past stay in the past." She said as she placed her hand on my shoulder reassuring me that it wasn't wrong. I somehow gave in and agreed with her and forgot about the fact that this thing ever happened.
Finally, the bad time was over and I hope so they never come again.
