Chapter 3:

(Amanda's POV)

When I woke up, it was already afternoon. I got out of bed, did my morning routine (which was very simple and consisted of me using the toilet, brushing my teeth and having a shower, before doing an Aloe Vera face mask), and went to find Mom..., well attempted to find her...you'll see.😉😁

However, I was surprised to see everything packed neatly in the right places on the shelves in our room.

You might be wondering why I was shocked to see that everything is packed away, and the reason was that in every other pack in the previous countries, Mom and I had always left all our items in their boxes. We would then usually just work out of the boxes when we needed certain items because it was easier to manage once we moved again.

Seeing this, made me feel as if this was our final destination...as if we were meant to stay in this pack...as if this was the end of the journey from running away from Alpha Kyle.

With my lingering thoughts in mind, I went on my quest of finding Mom once again. We were on the fourth floor of the Packhouse and this Packhouse had ten floors altogether so I knew that this would probably take a while. *sigh*

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I decided to walk down the corridor of the fourth floor to find the elevator when I came to an abrupt stop after coming to the realisation that I did not know in which direction the elevator was, much less what was actually on the other floors of this Packhouse.
Luckily, I saw other people in the corridor.
At first, I was hesitant and contemplated on whether I should ask them for help, because in the previous packs, I usually lived there as a shadow.
The first reason on why I chose to do this, was because of a fight which I had encountered between the pack members of different ranks. These fights would occur over the silliest of things, such as a pack member of low rank asking a simple question to a pack member of high rank, who thought they were better. I've heard the line of..."How dare you have the audacity to talk to me?...", so many times, that I decided that it was best for me to avoid making the same "mistake".
The second reason was because of Alpha Kyle. Well, not directly, but it was more the fact of it being the easiest way of keeping attention away from myself, just incase there was a traitor that ratted me out to him.
But after realising how meaningless these reasons were now, I decided to break the rules which survived me through the other packs, so I did what any normal person would've done, I asked.
"Uhmm, excuse me, my name is Amanda Ryder and I am new to this pack and I'm having some trouble with navigating through the pack because it is way bigger than the previous packs which I was in. Would you mind telling me where the elevator is please?", I asked the female pack member nervously. Baby steps, baby steps, I kept telling myself, as I wasn't sure on how she would react and if I would have to face the consequences which others in the previous packs had to endure, so I was quite nervous.
She replied with a giggle, "Oh, you don't have to be nervous around me Amanda, I'm here to help. I'm Isabella Knight, Beta Female of the Blue Eclipse Pack, and mated to Caleb Knight, Beta of the Blue Eclipse Pack, but you can call me Isabella."
"I heard about you from Caleb last night. He told me about the little car chase which you and your Mom took him on and I found it quite amusing because he said that he was surprised at how easily he was dodged by you guys, seeing that he was the fastest tracker in the pack", she said with another giggle once again before continuing, "And don't worry about asking me for help, because I don't mind and it is part of my job to assist the newbies of the pack who are yet to be welcomed into the pack, and the answer to your question is that you have to continue along the corridor of this floor until you see a blue sign, then you will need to make a right there, and you should see the elevator on your left. It was nice meeting you Amanda. I hope we can be friends and I hope you will be able to find your Mom soon."
I relaxed once I heard this because she seemed very friendly, so I replied, "Thank you so much Isabella. I appreciate your help and I'll accept the offer of being your friend. Now I'll be on my way to find my Mom."
"No problem", she replied, before turning to face more people who also required directions.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I walked along the corridor then paused for awhile, trying to recall in which direction I was supposed to turn next.

It took me about two minutes to gain my memory back then I mumbled to myself, "Why am I so forgetful recently", before making a turn on the right, and sure enough on my left, I found the elevator.

It turns out, Eva, my Wolf, heard that, so she decided to awake fully from her slumber, and said, 'Maybe it's because you are excited about something else that is yet to come, that you can't help but have that thought override your thought of your task at hand in the process.'

'Oh hi Eva, nice of you to show up again, isn't it. Enjoyed the long nap?", I said snarkily.

'Oh, don't go on with me now. I'm sorry for not speaking to you for so long but I can't help it if I'm tired, and I'm also replenishing myself for our next run, which I want to go on soon. And also if I remember correctly, you were the one who cut the mindlink off on our last conversation so I should actually be the one reprimanding you sneakily for doing that', she replied.

'Ok you got me there, I'm sorry, but honestly, I couldn't listen to your rambling any further. You knew that I was exhausted because of having to pack all the items in the boxes and you knew to expect me to cancel the mindlink if you continued to ramble because I usually did that when I was tired, otherwise I would've put up with it.', I said with a sigh, before continuing, 'Thanks for the explanation though, and we'll go on a run once Mom and I are accepted into the pack, which is in two days time. And what is this excitement which you are speaking of, Eva?'

Eva chose to ignore the first part of my speech, so I knew that she was still angry at me, and it would take some time for that anger to reside , but besides this fact, she replied, 'You'll see what that excitement is soon but I'm sure you already have an idea of what it is.'

With saying this, she cut off the mindlink. I didn't bother saying anything afterwards so I just shrugged my shoulders with a heavy sigh, pressed the button to open the elevator doors and once again continued on my quest of finding Mom.
