The Casino is Not so Simple

Strolling back to the casino, Metro noticed that there was now a crowd of gamblers that was surrounding one table in particular. Not only that, there were significantly more gamblers here than before. The Good Fortune Casino appeared to be a popular attraction in this Helios City.

"One million! Ten million! So close! So close!" A slot machine kept spinning and spinning, as a man in tattered clothes inserted more credits into it. He tracked the slot machine intently, ignoring the environment around him.

"Flower... diamond... bag! Why doesn't this damned thing payout! Fuck! Fuck!" The man inserted his last credit into the game and began violently hitting the machine in anger as the spinning stopped to reveal nothing. However, in his anger, sobs and the look of despair were concealed within.

"Sir, please stop, or our bouncers will move you out." The man was surrounded by the Guards from outside. "I know what you bastards want! My parent's house! I have the deed right here with me! Wait, let me search..." As the man searched his coat, he found nothing. His eyes turned red immediately.

"Those pig parents of mine! They actually dared to take it out while I was asleep! See how I beat them up when I get back home!" With gambling on his mind, the insane man walked out while cackling.

A burst of carnal energy suddenly bloomed in the air like a delicate flower, which made Metro turn his head to look towards it. It was so strong that he could not suppress the Abyssal's Eye instinctive reaction towards it.

After all, it was filled with a slight demonic energy, which was exactly what the Abyssal Eye needed to upgrade. Opening the Abyssal Eye, Metro was about to absorb it when a heavy spiritual pressure presence descended on him!

The spiritual pressure was like a spear, with the end spot heavily concentrated in front of Metro's Abyssal Eye. Metro closed his extension forcibly, while closing his eyes tightly at the same time. A bout of cold sweat broke out, causing Metro to feel an intense chill.

Metro's heart palpitated, as his nerves constricted in stress. He held his breathing, pretending not to exist in the first place. That was how fearful Metro was. He did not even have the chance to react and undertake any action before being suppressed to this degree.

Eventually, the spiritual pressure dissipated, as if it had never existed in the first place. Swerving his head around, Metro could track the spiritual pressure to be coming from a mask.

This mask looked like the Oni masks he had seen on the internet, with red horns, distorted features and sharpened teeth. It appeared so realistic that someone would mistake the Oni mask to have been once worn by a living being. Metro opened his Abyssal Eye to take a look at the mask, but it remained dormant.

"How far have demons already infiltrated into this city? What are they after exactly?" Metro looked at the mask with a frown on his face. It looked like the places which contained carnal energy were all habitats of demons. They appeared to be everywhere at once, and were slowly ramping up their operations.

Hawkes had not given Metro the full details on why he was here, as he was apparently restricted by the Abyss from divulging the information. It still definitely had something to deal with The Witch's arrival in 7 days from now. What are the hidden secrets of this city?

Metro felt that this scenario was getting more ridiculous by the moment. The danger level kept scaling upwards rapidly. Maybe if he wasn't forced to have a time limit, he would be better prepared to deal with the problems that he was encountering.

For now, Metro wanted to observe how the Oni mask worked. Even when he used his Abyssal Eye to conduct illusions, it wasn't detected by it. It was only when that man's carnal energy showed up that it became awake.

Metro had viewed that man's actions. He had created a huge commotion with just his words alone, and other people were sneering at him nearby for good reason. If there was one word that could describe that man just now, it would be, "bastard", edging on a heartless demon.

Pulling up to a slot machine, Metro sat down leisurely on a comfortable armchair. It was one of the tricks a casino pulled to keep somebody attached to gambling. Once they started spinning the slot machine, there was no discomfort to distract them away from inserting credits.

Sitting laid back on the armchair, Metro closed his eyes and monitored the flow of carnal energy in his surroundings for 20 minutes. Even though there was carnal energy released, the Oni mask did not even bother to react at all.

"From the looks of it, only demonic energy can meet up to its standards... That means I won't be troubled by it." With a smirk on his face, Metro left the armchair and headed towards a cashier station.

As a tourist in a distant land, the wallet he had contained at least 400 dollars. The currency used in this city had Arabic numerals, and was printed in dollars, even though the person on the note had changed to a heavily bearded man.

Slamming the notes on the cashier station, the cashier looked at Metro with an annoyed expression and swiftly exchanged it with casino credits. Taking the meagre amount of casino credits he had, he headed to the most crowded table he could see. It was the earlier table that he had took interest in.

"I believe that fatso over there should be able to win this round." "Nah, you really think that the ice queen gambler Sherlyn can lose to him? What a joke!" Metro heard conversations between the audience of the table as he edged his way into the crowd. With his muscular build, he was soon wedged between the front line viewers of the drawn out gambling battle.

"Raise to 3000." An energetic young man said those unbelievable words. Back in Metro's world, 3000 dollars was enough to keep a family well fed, yet these people were treating it like nothing.

"Call." "Call." "Call." "Raise to 5000." Everyone here were not to be trifled with, judging by how much money they had to blow on gambling. They were playing Texas Hold'Em Poker, which was a classic gambling game.

"Show your cards." When Metro arrived, they had already unveiled all of the 5 cards on the table. Everyone of them looked confident in their own cards, as they tossed them onto the table.

Eventually, a Chinese fatty won with a straight flush. With a grin on his face, he scooped away most of the chips in the jackpot to his side, as the casino took some as their tax.

Next, the dealer for this table started shuffling the deck of cards again. Surprisingly enough, Metro's trained eyes could not keep up with the speed of the shuffling of the cards.

There were several false movements hidden in the dealer's shuffling that concealed every card's positions well. Metro could not help but applaud in his heart. This casino was indeed not so simple. How else would a hidden genius like this dealer be here then?

Metro had a feeling that the only way to go to the second floor was to cheat at this specific table. In order to do so, he needed to turn the pile of small value chips he had into larger ones.

Metro submerged back into the crowd again and escaped into the opposite side unscathed. Looking for other players, he saw three people playing blackjack together with small stakes. Walking next to the trio's table, Metro reaches out for a chair while plopping his credits on the table.

"Mind letting me join in?"
