Ralph

It has been 50 years since the Ozone decided to evaporate and make everyone look like dog chew toys before they eventually died.

It has been 48 years since the government decided to say, "sike" and create a whole new council system, or what my parents like to call them, gang leaders. Four of them to be exact, who all act, talk, and rule the same. Ruthlessly and carelessly. I don't know much about the old government system but whatever a president was Im sure it was much better than Ash Wicker, Salem Balor, Blade Briar, and Carmen Weber.

Ash Wicker is like the evil queen in Snow White and the seven dwarves. She's in charge of us, the people of this God forsaken world. If someone breaks the law, you meet her. If someone doesn't obey commands, you meet her. If someone dares to rebel anything, and I mean literally anything, you meet her.

Salem Balor is in charge of security. No one is allowed in or out of the country. Apparently we made this land safe and we plan to keep it that way. He also makes sure the criminals stay behind bars until sentenced to death.

Blade Briar is in charge of military and weaponry. He chooses where our troops go and who they fight. He knows the coordinates of every military base, every gun, and every soldier who works for him. He's known for showing absolutely no mercy to anyone he is commanded to kill by Ash Wicker.

Carmen Weber, In other words, Dr. Weber Is in charge of everything dealing with medicine. No one hears from her, no one knows where she is, and no one feels healed by her. Rumor has it that she's so valuable that Wicker sent her to their capital base in D.C. to find a magical cure for Epiderplasma Arga. Hope ran out quickly though when the past medical directors didn't succeed, so no one is really looking for her.

It has been 20 years since the drastic, life-ending, happiness destroyer law was placed.

Only two kids per family.

Every family that had more than two kids living in the household  after the law was placed was sentenced to death along with the kids who were forbidden.

At first, this law was praised, everyone looked at it with admiration and selfishness. More supplies for us, more safety for us, more money for us. Greed took over the already broken world.

Then it was their kids who were dying, it was their lives being debated based on the gift of pregnancy. Birth control and condoms vanished after only months passed with the new law. Fear of bringing life into the world was the most common phobia now.

Injustice, anger, and sadness, eventually took over Greed. Rebellion only led to more death, the population was decreasing fast which is what the government wanted. They wanted to get ahead of us, with food, with water, with supplies so badly that our beating hearts held no value to them.

So, my parents generation decided to go higher. They became clever, smart, and sneaky. Soon there were households of three kids again, some four. The authority around them held no suspicion for the little babies being hidden in attics, basements, bedrooms, and safe havens.

Their law was crumbling apart, and they had no clue.

It has been 18 years since I was born. I am Ralph Miller, and I am indeed a forbidden child.

My Father is Liam Miller, he works at the advanced science and technology base In Utah. He holds the occupation of Engineering, creating complex computers for the facilities around the country. He has green eyes and dark brown hair. He is very quiet and barely around, I don't have many recent memories of him but he made my childhood great and I can't thank him enough for that. I definitely got my poetic and leadership skills from my old man.

My mother is Harriet Miller, she is a stay at home mom because of her anxiety about the risks that could happen if they leave their precious forbidden child hidden alone at home. Even when I'm 18 she still goes into a frenzy If I don't hear her rhythmic knock on the thin walls telling me to come eat dinner. She has black hair with ocean blue eyes, she is always cooking, I have absolutely no knowledge about how I'm not fat yet.

Then I have older twin sisters, Allyson and Alaina. They are now 22, out of the house, experiencing Job recruitment academy. Basically a four year school placing you in your forever job. You get tested in several areas of expertise, until the leaders have decided where you would be most valuable. I don't thank God a lot but I thank him I don't have to go through that.

They annoyed the hell out of me, not because they are the reason I have my label, but because all they do Is laugh. They were extremely obnoxious, making rude remarks about my IQ and routines since they were four.

I hate to admit that the house is too quiet now, and that mom is always sad. Even when dad is home he fails to keep her company because of how physically drained he is.

So now our kitchen has a new smell in it every day, and I have resorted to my bedroom, or should I say wall? Having an engineer as a dad ain't half bad when you are trying to hide from a deadly punishment.

He invented a projector that repels allusions of one of our plain white walls. It looks real, solid, and even allows people to physically lean on it. All you have to say is, "Revelare." Which is latin for reveal, and you'll see a bed, a laptop, and a bunch of nerd posters that explain scientific experiments.

Since forbidden children shouldn't even be alive, school isn't an option. My mom taught me English and history. While my dad taught me math and science, he made every concept from atoms to planets in our solar system fun and enjoyable. We would sneak outside at night and observe the rare stars, and lock our mom outside of the kitchen to do messy chemical reactions. I have always wanted to be a scientist, but I literally haven't traveled past my back yard in 18 years.

My father also made me a special, coded, extremely protected laptop. I call it my off-the-grid laptop. No one knows it exists, just like me. I can do anything I want with it, no precautions, no rules, no worries. It has been my pride and joy, my savior, and my friend in the darkest of times. My family pictures are on it, video games, starred websites about famous scientists, and the Group chat.

The forbidden group-chat. Literally. Thats what we named it.

One click made accidentally created a group of friends I wouldn't change for the world. Other kids just like me, contacting me through a screen, talking about day to day things that I can relate to.

It gave me hope. A spark I never had the chance to feel...

and this Friday we all meet, in person, once and for all.

So...I lied before. The computer had one rule that came with it on my 13th birthday. No contacting, no social media, nothing to deal with other humans that could rat me out or get suspicious.

What can I say? I'm forbidden, I was born a rebel.
