The Fallen

"Welcome to Hotel Katarina," a woman bowed and led Devin and Maria to their individual rooms. Maria's room was first and then Devin.

"Please, enjoy your stay," the woman said and smiled before leaving.

Devin flopped on the bed and sighed. "England is cold."

He decided to unpack after rolling around the bed a couple of times. He'd be staying here for months and since they still haven't found a suitable apartment, he'd have to stay in the hotel.

"Good thing the Union covered for me," Devin said to himself and looked around the grandiose hotel room. "Lucky me, I guess."

When he was done, he got up and knocked on Maria's door. "Maria, let's go out. I wanna look for apartments now."

There was a moment of silence before the door opened, revealing a deadpanning Maria. "Why?"

"Because I want to pay my own rent," Devin pouted.

Maria tilted her head, "Why?"

"Because… err, I don't want to feel indebted?"
