A Detrimental State

The bar was unusually silent, and it stirred his suspicion. Aside from them and the bar staff, there were only a few couples present.

"Xiaoruo, don't you think the bar is quiet for a Saturday night?" Cree asked, downing another cocktail. The bartender readily refilled his glass.

Even the actions of the bartender seemed questionable. The bartender appeared to be averting his gaze, and Cree didn't like where this was heading. But then, he realised that the bartender seemed a bit familiar. Two years had passed, and the bartender was that exact person he had been chasing for the debt owed to him at the Evanescence Bar back in 2014. Little wonder he wouldn't look at him. The man had since then repaid his debt in full to Cree but had avoided him.

Cree, be the bigger person, he told himself. Let bygones be bygones.
