Unlucky encounter

Dredgen pov

Dredgen currently walked through the desert, he was completely lost. He didn't know where to go. He never traveled far so, he didn't know how to get back or how to meet up with the goblins. He regretted now his lack of motivation for adventures, but that's how he was. He usually just preferred training at home.

But it was too late now, he couldn't change the past so he just had to find a way. Luckily, he was the strongest goblin, he was born with an unusual tough body and you could see his muscles bulging. Combined with the metal body refining technique his body became a terrifying weapon.

It wasn't as terrifying as the bodies of those devil humans, but it was still terrifying. With it he didn't have to be scared of dying in the wilderness. At least not as long he avoided all the terrifying monsters.

The desert had a lot of terrifying monsters, the spiders were one of the most terrifying race in. This desert. The devil humans were another terrifying race, but only because of their numbers. The most dangerous race to meet are the scorpion race. Especially the scorpion King was an extremely terrifying being.

Dredgen knew how scary the scorpions were, he constantly heard William talking about scorpions. His master that he viewed as the strongest person, was completely terrified by scorpions. Dredgen didn't know why he was that terrified of them, but he understood that whatever his master feared should be something that he feared to.

Sennua pov

Sennua was walking together with the crab children. the crab children all carried their giant mom. Sennua sighed, this was a long travel and it was likely that the crab mom would die before they made it there. But she didn't want to give up, she couldn't do much but she wanted to at least give those crab children's some hope.

They traveled a long time without meeting anyone, but now a problem surfaced. They didn't have enough water for all the crabs, how would they survive till they reach the lake? It was a difficult situation to be in, but luckily, they had a small solution.

They would destroy cacti that they saw on the way and drink their milk. It wasn't much but at least it kept them from dying of thirst. Still they hoped to find a bigger source of water, but that was just a dream. Besides the river, there was barely any water in this desert.

But they were satisfied as long they had enough to survive. It was still a tough journey because most of the crab children never left their home. Traveling so far was completely out of their expectations and dreams. They wouldn't even be able to tell the difference between a treasure and a death trap.

But luckily, they had Sennua, she guided them wisely and made sure to avoid places that had signs of a lot of predators. She knew it was faster to walk in a straight line, but she didn't want to risk the crab children's lives.

The crab children didn't know that they were babysitter. They, thought that they did great for their first time outside. Most of them even though arrogantly that they could easily handle all enemies, if they were to meet one.

But there was also the other part of the crab children that was completely terrified. They feared to die with every step that they would take. Scared that the cacti would suddenly turn into a giant monster and eat them.

But that was normal, not everyone was the same and that applied for crabs to. Some crabs were extremely brave and some crabs were cowards. But Sennua didn't judge any of those sides she could understand both of their perspectives.

It was normal to be scared if you suddenly enter a world that you've never seen before. And it was also normal to be arrogant and brave if you don't know what danger is. None of the crabs ever met a dangerous situation, so none of them could judge correctly how dangerous the world is.

Sennua knew that as soon as the first sign of danger appeared that most crabs would probably take the side of cowards. After it takes a lot to stand strong in front of dangers, it wasn't something that she expected from children. The children were already brave enough for going on this dangerous adventure to save their mom.

But suddenly Sennua cursed herself for thinking about this. Because she had seen a giant scorpion in the distance, it's like if her thoughts summoned a scorpion. She couldn't believe her bad luck; the scorpions were the kings of the desert.

She immediately signaled all the crab children to hold still, if they were lucky then the scorpion wouldn't have noticed them yet. But if they were unlucky then they would all die here, Sennua didn't even think about fighting against the scorpion. She knew it was impossible, after all the carapace of the scorpions was the toughest material existing within the desert.

But what was she supposed to do? Running would alert the scorpion. And waiting here would risk that the scorpion would eventually look in their direction. Not to mention that they just couldn't be stuck here. What should they do??
