Mary, Mary, quite contrary

What is it I just saw?

A man buried and a bunch of ladies

Weeping in a row.

She just stared blankly,

Never even blinked.

I thought she'd stay silent

But then she spoke to me.

Dear child, listen well,

Love isn't easy as fairy tales tell

That's why be careful whom to adore

Because it may cost you so much more.

I didn't understand

So I just turned,

Then I was surprised

From what I heard.

The ladies in black

Dress, veil and all,

They're giggling

Not weeping at all.

I turned to Mary

Who watched with blank eyes,

Her face still the same

Then I asked why.

Women are giggling not weeping,

Aren't they weird?

She looked at me with hollow eyes.
