09 Night Picnic

Nesryn accompanied Azriel to his 2 pm appointment, making sure he doesn't speak so recklessly in front of the journalist. Mr. Callisk stayed true to their agreement and only asked questions regarding the company and it's brand new addition. The interview ended an hour and half later, the journalist tried his best not to blurt out unnecessary questions but the frustration could be easily seen in his eyes.

Nesryn squinted her eyes at this "is there something more you wish to ask Mr. Callisk?" she questioned, staring at the man in question. Azriel turned his attention from his secretary to the man in front of him. Callisk started sweating and fidgeting under their intense stares. "Uh, Uh yes but It's not part of the contract"

"Then with all due respect, no other questions of yours will be answered unless it's part of the signed contract between us and your news agency" Nesryn was polite but firm with her words as Azriel kept his eyes on the man, in the end the interview ended.

Nesryn walked him to the elevator and bid him farewell. Azriel let out a deep sigh as she returned by his side "Your schedule is cleared for the day, but you'll have an early start tomorrow morning, so please get ready early" he nodded and they went back to their respective offices. Nesryn finished looking over documents in her table and brought the folders to Azriel's office.

Getting the signed documents and sending them to the respective departments. "Say Nesryn, let's have dinner tonight" Azriel asked once she came back, she looked at him weirdly, her brows furrowed. An amused smile made its way on Azriel's face. "We need to talk about some of the pending documents in my inbox" he said, knowing exactly what excuse to use against her.

Nesryn immediately agreed when she heard that it was still work-related. "Great wait for me after work" he said and dismissed her. She walked out of his office and back to her desk. Azriel turned off his computer and called his driver "Hello, Anthony. Can you please prepare….." his next words were said in whispers as he looked at Nesryn through the glass window.

The two left the office together as the sun started setting, they boarded the elevator and headed back down to the lobby. Anthony -his driver- waiting outside the doors. Azriel led her outside, he accepted the keys from Anthony and said his thanks. Anthony left the two alone and silently boarded another car behind them.

Azriel opened the passenger door for Nesryn, she flashed him a smile as thanks, he smiled back and closed the door after making sure she was sitting comfortably. He then went in and put on his seatbelt as Nesryn buckled hers, he started the engine and they drove off outside the city. Nesryn just stared outside the window, watching as the sun set in the horizon.

Azriel stopped the car on the top of a cliff as stars started appearing in the night sky. He got out of the car and so did Nesryn, he opened the trunk and took out a blanket and a big basket. Nesryn helped him carry the blanket as he led her in a flat, grassy part of the cliff. Nesryn laid down the blanket, spreading it out.

She stared in awe at the view, the cliff overlooking the city as it started lighting up, the orange and pinkish hue of the sky as the sun set and the stars appearing completed the picturesque view. Azriel unconsciously smiled as he stared at her and continued to take out food from the basket.

He placed the food in front of him and sat down, watching her from behind. "It's been a long time since I relaxed like this" Nesryn said loudly, stretching her arms out, as she let out a loud sigh "Come let's eat while we talk" Azriel called out to her, she turned around and walked back to the blanket.

She sat down and they started eating, Anthony bought a couple of take out food from different fast food chains and some sandwiches from convenience stores. They were silent for 10 minutes as they started munching on their food. The silent buzzing of insects and the wind blowing was the only thing that could be heard.

"So what is the reason you called me out here?" Nesryn asked, not looking at Azriel. He almost choked on his food but fortunately was able to drink water "You knew?" Nesryn rolled her eyes but nodded anyways "I am not born yesterday Mr. CEO" she teased.

"It's nothing, just suddenly had the idea to do this, I don't know what came over me earlier this day" Nesryn nodded, not really understanding what everything was for, the two continued talking but their conversation eventually came back to work. Azriel tried to change the topic and pull Nesryn away from working but she eventually won from the unsaid battle.

The dinner finished at around 8:30, Azriel drove her home and they said their goodbye's. Azriel drove back to his house and walked straight to his bedroom, his once naked bed has now been dressed once again. He took off his clothes and jumped in the shower and took a hot shower.

He got out of the shower with a towel on his hand as he dried his hair, he put on low hanging sweatpants as he walked to the room next door, he put on his reading glasses and read through some documents on his table brought by Nesryn. His phone started vibrating and he took it out from his pocket. He raised an eyebrow when an unknown caller flashed on the screen.

He answered the call and put it on loud speaker so the security cam in his office can pick it up. "Hello? Azriel speaking"

"Baby~"

"May I ask who this is?"

"I am hurt, you forgot me already?"

"I am sorry but who the fuck are you?"

"A girl you dumped last month in a bar"

"I am sorry i don't remember you but if I dumped you then you're nothing to me anymore"

"How could you play me like this"

"You know I have a reputation and I don't stick with girls for a long time"

"How could you, I loved you then I learned you have a fiancee!"

Azriel winced at the woman's sudden outburst, he could detect that the girl was very drunk, some of her words were slurred but still understandable and the loud music in the background was a dead giveaway. "I am sorry that I broke your heart, but that's how I play, you received a necklace that's worth a million dollars, it's your choice what to do with it"

He hung up the call and blocked the number then went back to reading some documents and signing it. He went to bed with a book on his hand and read till he fell asleep.

He woke up the next morning with Nesryn already walking around his bedroom, rummaging through his closet for his suit. He sat up on his bed as she walked back and forth from his closet. The book he had last night was neatly placed on his nightstand with the page already marked.

He stood up stretching "Good morning sir, we have to be onsite in an hour, please take a shower" Nesryn said, pushing him to the bathroom after handing him his towel that was left to dry on his bedroom balcony. He took a shower for 15 minutes and went out of the bath, with his clothes, shoes and watch already prepared on his bed and Nesryn nowhere to be seen.

He wore the clothes she prepared for him, leaving out his tie and watch. He left the room and walked into the other room to grab the documents he signed last night, then went downstairs to the dining hall where Nesryn stood.

He would always wonder if she never got tired just standing there behind him. Upon seeing him, she walked over to him, taking the tie, watch and documents from his hands. She placed him on the side and pulled out his chair for him. Azriel thanked her and she sat on her own and ate breakfast.

It only took them 15 minutes to finish eating, Nesryn quickly fixed his tie and watch, she took his coat and the documents and they went out of the house and into the awaiting car. Nesryn told the driver the direction of the site and leaned back as they drove through the highway.

They, fortunately, arrived just in time. Nesryn was the first out of the car, walking to the trunk and pulling out an umbrella, then walking towards Azriel's door and opening it, he went out. Nesryn left his coat in the car. Azriel took the umbrella from her and pulled her closer to him as they walked together to the site to meet with the Engineer and the Architect about the brand new building that they had on mind for a new mall in the area.

The meeting lasted for almost an hour as Azriel's temper got worse because of the scorching sun. Nesryn was able to keep his emotions in check, mostly doing the talking for him whenever she could hear a sarcastic remark from him under his breath.

They said their goodbyes and walked back to the car, Nesryn immediately let out a sigh of relief when they got inside, one more hour in this scorching weather and she could immediately faint right on the spot due to her anemia. They left the site "Stop by at a cafe, I need something for thirst" the driver nodded and Nesryn leaned back with her eyes closed, savoring the cold air from the air conditioning.

As ordered, the driver stopped at a cafe and Azriel went out of the car and into the shop, his wallet on hand. He returned 10 minutes later with 3 cups on hand, he went back inside the car and handed the driver an iced americano and Nesryn with her iced tea. After taking a few sips the driver continued driving back to the company and their day started as secretary and CEO.
