Medallion

The group arrived at the auction house without an issue. Looking through the list of items Mister Zhuge had given them, Xue Chang looked toward Sun Jianhong and said,

"Among this list, I'd say the best thing to get for a present would be this Blightstone Mace."

"A mace?" Sun Jianhong looked over at Xue Chang as if he crazy, "What kind of little girl would like something like that?"

Scoffing lightly, Xue Chang said, "Oh I'm sorry, who's the person with more experience in picking presents now?"

Although he said this, Xue Chang completely agreed that normal girls wouldn't want a mace for a present.

But Xue Ai was different. For her, Xue Chang had a perfect understanding of her interests. A mace would excite her much more than a normal doll or some pretty dresses.

"Trust him a little, he's never been wrong about this before." Seeing Sun Jianhong was in the edge of being convinced, Tian Hai added in his own two bits.

The captain of the guards nodded his head before signing to himself.

"I guess this will have to do. But blightstone is a pretty good material. A mace made with blightstone would cost a pretty penny in a normal market, much less an auction house."

Patting his shoulder lightly, Tian Kai said, "Don't worry, we'll help with that."

The four of them entered into the auction house and prepared to bid for their desired item.

It didn't take long before everything was settled. The mace went for nearly a hundred gold coins. Which was a hefty sum even for the guards' captain.

Luckily Xue Chang was willing to lend some cash in return for some of the credit for the gift.

Once the auction ended, they all went to the reception desk in order to claim their prizes.

"Here you are sir." The receptionist gave a faint smile as she handed over the box containing the mace and checked the pouch of money.

Sun Jianhong opened up the case and confirmed the item before tucking it into his arms to hold onto it.

"Looks like watered down rice will be my meals for the next few weeks." Sun Jianhong sighed as the group left the auction house. Xue Chang chuckled at the quip and nudged him a little in the side.

"Don't worry, you can visit us once in a while for dinner if you'd like."

Tian Hai nodded but to the side of him Tian Kai had his eyes trembling imperceptibly.

As they continued to draw near the exit of the building, a booming voice stopped them in their tracks.

"Well won't you look at that!" Xue Chang turned to look at the loud voice behind them only to come face to face with a familiar face. The guild master roared in laughter as he approached the group quickly, "The stars of my guild make a rare appearance."

Tian Hai and Tian Kai each clasped their hands together as they greeted him, "Guild master, it's good to see you."

"I hope you're in good health."

Nodding at their greetings, the guild master grinned to himself while inviting them over for a chat.

"It's actually great that I got to see you two here. You two have a strong connection with Yong Heng correct?"

Tian Kai nodded curiously while secretly glancing at Xue Chang who was listening in to their conversation.

"Yes, we're close friends with him and have been helped by him many times before."

"Although he's a bit of a troublemaker, there's no doubt he works hard to protect the city and those around him." Tian Hai added in his own two bits.

The guild master murmured, "A bit of a troublemaker is an understatement. You need to tell that guy to calm down, he's draining my wallet with all of the insane things he does. Now I have a huge pile of monster corpses I need to deal with. It's quite the issue."

As if he just remembered something important, the guild master pulled something out of his clothing, "Speaking of that bastard, I was hoping you'd give him something for me."

He held out a strange wooden medallion toward the group. Although it looked unassuming, Xue Chang noticed that the guild master's face was solemnly serious.

"And I hope you could ask him to meet me as soon as possible. I need to speak to Yong Heng about something." The guild master wiped the grim expression in his face and let out a brilliant smile.

Although he felt something was a bit strange about his actions, Tian Hai still nodded his head while accepting the medallion. "We will do our best."

The guild master thanked them as he left without another word.

And although everyone was extremely confused on what just happened, the one who was most confused was the childlike person in the group.

The veiled child, who also went by the name of Yong Heng.
