Chapter six

No way. My ex-boyfriend was kissing her cheek while she was smiling at the camera.

Someone please tell me that's fake. That can't be true. I was fuming with anger and betrayal at this point.

How can she do this to me? It was like she was taking my life piece by piece. I've been friends with her for already 6 years! And for her to do this?

How can someone be so heartless? And most importantly how could I not see through her fake act?

I decided to message her, "What was ur new post?!"

I groan in frustration before I changed my outfit into some sweatpants, a crop top, and air forces.

I was going to sightsee the city because why not? I've got nothing better to do nor nothing to lose.

Still not seeing Anna was nowhere in sight, I decided to leave her a note by her room door and left.

Once I exit the building, I was met with fresh air. Instead of taking the subway or taxi, I walked because I didn't really have a lot of money with me.

I used my phone as google maps and traveled all the way to Times Square until I passed by a cafe that seemed a bit popular around here.

Kasey's, the sign of the cafe read in big bold letters. And they were hiring too! I stepped into the cafe and went over to the cashier.

"Welcome to Kasey's. How may I help you?" The girl that seem my age greets me with a smile. "Hi! I'm actually here to look for a job? I saw a note saying you guys were hiring," I tell her.

"Oh awesome, I'll let my manager know. Otherwise, you can take a seat until she comes out," she nods. And I reply, "Okay thank you."

I found an empty table and took a seat. I looked outside the window seeing many people pass by. Until I spotted Alexander. What was he doing here? And in regular clothes? I thought he had work. But a girl clinged onto his arm. The girl had blonde hair but dark brown roots on the top, I could see her clearly, she was pretty. And it seemed like they were dating.

Then why would he agree to the marriage? Still watching them, I was interrupted by a tap on my shoulder and I turned around.

"Hi, I'm the manager. I heard you were looking for a job?" She asks me. I read her tag, Amelia. She looked like she was in her mid thirties.

And I nod along.

"Follow me."

After an hour, she told me I got the job! It was on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays from ten A.M. to six P.M. And they payed about twenty dollars or more hourly, that was already fair enough for me.

I took out my phone to trace my way back to the apartment I couldn't call home.

Once I got back, the apartment was eerie silent. But a fit of giggling soon erupted—the sound was definitely coming from Alexander's room. Did he actually bring a girl home? Oh god.

I wasn't jealous or anything—but it wasn't like we both couldn't date anyone. It was just weird to think that your engaged but you also have a girlfriend by your side.

I could've already guessed that the voice belonged to the girl that was with Alexander earlier today.

And he told me he had to go to work my ass. He honestly could've told me that he was dating someone.

I rolled my eyes out of annoyance and headed straight to my room, skipping dinner since I came home around eight P.M. But also considering the fact that I haven't ate all day, I decided to go back out to the kitchen and grab something from the pantry.

But it was empty. Who the hell leaves a pantry empty? Definitely not me.

I then opened the refrigerator to see if there was any left overs.

Nothing. Nada.

I got more annoyed quickly and decided to go out again. I quickly grabbed my bag, wallet, and phone before slamming the door—signaling that I was leaving. I made sure Alexander and his whatever girl heard me.
