Chapter 5: The Pictures

Fiona's POV

"That was a great meal, Fiona." Rojen said.

"Good. Did you have fun?" I asked, smiling at him.

"Yes! Especially when I tasted Mr. Pome's grilled chicken, up until now I still feel full."

he smiled back.

"Mmm. I told you. Mr. Pome's grilled chicken is the best." I replied.

We walked slowly, enjoying the mist the night brings. I saw there are many of stars lately. Maybe they are watching this handsome man beside me, thinking how was his life here and hoping for the best of him.

My eyes landed on Rojen who is also looking above the violet sky right now. His eyes are sparkling as the shimmering light from the stars reflects on it.

"I hope, Fiona, that you wouldn't do that again. If a landed a little minute late, maybe I'll just watching you laying on the street covered with blood." he said. I sensed the sadness on his voice.

"It wasn't really my intention to do that. I-I just felt like everything was miserable and I can't take all the hardships and suffering anymore." I replied.

"That's why I'm here to finish my mission, which is you, Fiona. The Golden Star sent me here to help you." He said while looking at the stars.

"How can you help me then? Can you give me money?" I asked.

"I can't especially now that I am powerless. But I know there some ways to make money. Not all powers can give you money. Sometimes, your will does." he replied.

He had a point. Fire power cannot give you money. It'll only cause destruction, if not controlled.

"Where does your power came from anyways?" I asked out of curiousity.

I shouldn't have asking this because it's kind of unbelievable for someone having powers. But the fact the he is a star, then I must believe.

"Have you seen this bracelet? All stars that shapeshifted into a human has this kind of bracelet. It is where my power came from."

He said, showed me his golden bracelet.

I think it was not just an ordinary gold that can be found on earth. I think this bracelet is much more expensive than our planet.

"Your wearing it. But why are you powerless? And it looks like it was made of gold and diamond. I think it costs much."

"Yes! It is super special. It was made out of gold, diamond and a hint of ruby that can only be found on one of the asteroids eight thousand light years away from here. And It takes time to regain my power, Fiona. Maybe days or weeks. But don't just think about it. The important thing is I am here to protect you."

he said, eyes focused on the road.

I didn't say a word. I just kept silent until we reached my apartment.

"Just wait here, okay? I'll just check if Ms. Letty slept already."

"Okay."

he nodded.

I walk towards the entrance door to see if the door is locked already. It was locked. That only means that everyone is sleeping already .

I came back to Rojen. I opened the back gate and closed it without making any noise. I'm used on doing it that I had already mastered.

We walk towards my room which is in the rooftop. It was old but that is the only room that I can afford.

I barely even pay for the rent of it.

"Come in. You only see the outside so now I gave you permission to come inside. Just make sure you won't do silly things or else..."

"Well, it looks kinda good."

he said when he entered my room.

"Don't lie to me. I know you're thinking that it was small and messy."

I rolled my eyes.

"Fiona, you don't need a fancy room for a living. Just a simple one is fine. It's called practicality."

"Oh! I didn't know that you're also good with words of wisdom." I said sarcastically.

"Haha. It's my specialty." he replied.

"Whatever."

I rearranged my room to provide a wider space for Rojen.

"Where should I sleep?"

he asked, curious eyes looking at me.

"At the floor."

I smiled.

"But you have bed." he said, confused.

"No! You can't sleep here. It's a single bed. Only for a single lady like me."

I said while pointing on myself.

"I wouldn't do anything."

"I have no trust on you yet. Well not fully. I just met you a few hours ago. You should be thankful that I let you sleep here."

"Thank you then." he replied with a sarcastic tone.

I gave him a bed sheet and a pillow.

I saw how hard it was for him to arrange the bed sheet I gave him so I helped and arrange it myself.

"Use this so that your body won't sore when you wake up tomorrow."

I gave him the pillow.

"Thank you."

he smiled.

"Mmm."

I nodded.

I readied my bed ang took a short bath to freshen myself before going to sleep. As I closed the door after I go out, I saw Rojen watching pictures on my albums.

I suddenly took it and I saw how confused he was on my action.

"Why? Is anything wrong?"

he asked. I saw how confused he is.

"Nothing. Just don't look at my pictures."

"Why? You look so cute. I saw the happiness and love in your eyes while in the arms of your grandma." he answered.

"Can we not talk about it?"

I felt my voice trembled.

"Why?"

"Just don't. Go to sleep, Rojen. We have something to do tomorrow."

After I said that, I layed my back on the bed and focused my attention on the other side.

I don't want Rojen to see how these tears from my eyes wanted to escape. I'm a tough girl but I am soft when the topic is all about my grandma.

I missed her so much that I wanted to follow her. I missed our bonding together even when it was just the both of us.

My mother left me and come along with the other man after my father died.

My mother didn't love me at all. She's just using me for her own advantages. I once dreamt that what if my mother died instead of my father, I may have a beautiful life right now.

I just shake my head and took deep breathes until I fell asleep.

----

"Fiona? Fiona?!"

I opened my eyes as the voice registered in my head.

"Ms. Letty." I wisphered.

I stood up and I roam my eyes around the room. No sign of Rojen.

"Gosh!" I said half-shouted.

I opened the door and I saw Ms. Letty's frowning face again.

"I've been calling you how many times already. Where's your payment for the rent?"

There's her horn again. Her eyebrows kept on seeing wach other all the time.

"How much is it again, Ms. Letty?"

I asked.

"200 dollars."

"What?!"

"Yes! You haven't paid me since April. It's 3 months already! I'm being patient knowing that you're experiencing financial problem one of these days. But the boss has been telling me that you need to pay or you'll get kicked out of here."

"Ms. Letty, give me more days to find money. I have no money yet, please."

I said, begging.

"I'm sorry, Fiona. But I'm just doing my work. Pay me before 6 p.m. or pack your things ang get out of here." she said and walked away until she's not in my sight anymore.

"What should I do now? I have no money yet, where should I get it. If I don't pay before 6 p.m. then I'm totally in mess."

While thinking about the rent, I just realized that Rojen wasn't around.

"Where the hell is that man?"

"Hey, Fiona. I bought you-"

"Where are you from?"

I asked, trying to hide my annoyance.

"I bought food."

"Didn't I told you not to go out. Someone might see you!"

"I'm sorry. But I did make sure that no one sees me."

He said. I saw how his expression changed from excitement to sudden disappointment.

"Are you mad?"

"Of course I am."

"I'm sorry. I promise I won't do it again."

I looked at his face. I felt conscience whole looking at his sad expression.

"What did you bought me?" I asked to lighten up his mood.

"Grilled chicken and sticky rice." he replied.

"Where did you buy it?"

I asked.

"Mr. Pome's."

"Where did you get money?"

I asked again.

"I was walking around earlier when I found 10 dollars at the street."

he said. He smiled at me like there's nothing happened.

"How were you able to get out of here without getting caught?" I asked one more time.

"I used your key. I saw that there was no one around and it was quiet so I got out with easiness." he said, proud of what he did.

"How lucky. Come here. Let me eat some so that I won't feel mad at you anymore."I said.

"Sure! You can eat a lot." He replied while smiling playfully. He looks like a kid whose excited for something.

"Come inside. I have something to discuss with you."

"Coming!" he replied.
