Astrid looked through the window, but they couldn't see anything. Or so she couldn't. Hayden peered through it and his eyes turned the size of crystal balls.
"Oh no, this doesn't look good! They've set up defences!" Hayden cried to Astrid, who was still trying to peer through the glass window. Astrid stopped trying to peer through a window and looked over at a half-panicking, half-calm Hayden.
"Right, the first obstacle is fire, A," He replied, and before she could ask how he knew, he started to walk up and down, while he watched a still Astrid stare back at him.
"How do you-" Astrid started, but Hayden wasn't listening. He dove into his bag, and Astrid looked over at him, though she had her mind on the fire. She suddenly had the impression that Hayden was calling him. "ASTRID!" cried Hayden, waving his hands in the air for her attention. Astrid jumped and looked over at him with a questionable look.
"Oh yeah- what- yes?" She stuttered as she shook her head to let go of her thoughts. Hayden smiled at her stutters and threw a fierce blue object in her hands. She looked down at it.
It looked exactly like a binocular, except it was aqua blue. Well, it was. The colour vanished in front of her eyes and were replaced my a grassy sort of green.
"Does it always do that?" asked Astrid, her voice was shaky and scared. To her surprise, Hayden shook his head. "No...it's never changed its colour," He frowned.
This made Astrid feel slightly panicked. She looked at the binoculars, then back at Hayden. "Yeah...what is that?" She asked. The temptation to ask that question was too strong.
"It's a fierescope," He said, in a cool and calm voice. When Astrid continued to looked confused, he went on. "It can see through walls that are protected by ancient spells,"
Astrid nodded. Well that explained it all. Why she couldn't she the inside. How Hayden could see it. What that strange binocular object did.
For some reason, this made Astrid feel uneasy. Aware that Hayden was watching her, she gave him the fierescope without doing anything. Something didn't feel right about Astrid using it.
"Okay...what's after the fire?" Astrid asked, trying to keep her voice as steady as possible. But she was now shaking, making it impossible not to tell. Hayden gave her a questionable look and replied a moment later. "Well, we have to pass it to see," He shrugged.
Astrid nodded. Well, she couldn't be much help. The first task was easily Hayden's job. After all, whether she had powers or not, Hayden's element was water, which could easily throw out fire. And her-her parents- element was grass.
"Astrid!" He yelled in a distant voice. Astrid immediately snapped out of her thoughts. She looked over at him and gave him a painful smile. The muscles on her mouth seemed stiff.
"Yes?" She asked, her voice plain and blank.
"I don't believe it- there's somebody inside!" Hayden cried, now circling Astrid with a sort of panicked expression.
"Right...okay, we need to take the Elemenatry with us. If we can get close enough to the person, we can see their element. As long as we know their element, it'll be easier to take them down!" Astrid cried.
Hayden gave her a smile Astrid hadn't seen since the beginning of their journey. "You really are a genius." He smiled, giving her a pat on her back.
The plan seemed accurate. Except for one flaw. How can we sneak up to the person without them noticing? Hayden was thinking along the same lines. He dove into his bag and pulled out a ball. "How many balls do you have?" She laughed.
"This one's an Camologer. It can make everything around you camo. They won't be able to see us!" He recited at top speed. Astrid nodded and Hayden tossed her the Elemenatry.
They looked at the door for a second and both took a deep breath. They pushed on the door, but nothing happened. They knocked again, nothing. Astrid felt her blood pumping in her body. For some reason, the fire seemed to be getting closer, and closer.
And the fire was advancing, it was speeding at the door, and Hayden was attempting to mumble defensive spells to protect them. But the fire was coming nearer. And it burst through the door as though there never was one.
The next thing she knew, everything went black. This was the last thing she saw before everything went black. Her mind went blank, and all she could hear was Hayden shouting her name.
