chapter 2

as the waves took him to shore, he got down the canoe, and pulled it further in beach so that the waves don't pull it into the sea, and he was met with the first person in this world, a teen around 15 years old, with dark skin burned under the sun,

"greeting, sailor" the teen said with a friendly smile

"oh! hi there, i am Arowen" he replied, with none of the awkwardness he had when conversing with the voice in the Hollow

"i am jasper, i watch over the boats here, what brings you to our humble village, very few wander around here, most go to the port town on the other side of the island" jasper said

'there is a town here?! lucky, i was afraid it would be an abandoned island, but not only is there a village here, but also a port hehe really lucky'

"ah! i was kind of lost at sea, so i didn't really choose a destination to begin with, i am just lucky to have made it here, if you don't mind can i ask you some questions?"

"sure! come with me to my shack over there, but first let me help you with that boat of yours" saying that he helped Arowen pull the boat to where the others were basking under the sun and then led him to his shack

"welcome to my humble abode, take a seat" the shack wasn't much there was a fire pit at the middle, a bed at a far corner, a table and 4 chairs and a big jar at another corner, Arowen took a seat at the table, as jasper went to the jar and scooped a some water in two cups and went back to the table

"Please, you must be thirsty after all your ordeal at sea, forgive me for water is all i can serve my guest" to Arowen, the boy was clearly poor from his shack alone, it had only the bare minimum, and fresh water isn't all bad either, it was cool as well plus the guy was so polite

"no no, it great, thank you for your hospitality, if you don't mind me asking what is the name of this island?"

"this island is called Sebas island, named after the the port city on the other side, which is also named after the first city lord, it is quite a large commercial port, so there is even a marine base in the north which is great for us, pirates do not dare come and raid us"

"there is a marine base in this island?!!" Arowen asked surprised

"yes indeed, there is even a captain at the helm of the base"

hearing that Arowen was even more happy, a captain is very powerful rank, so he should be safe from captain, but that is not the reason for his happiness, the real reason for it is that to be a captain you either had to have a devil fruit, or strong martial prowess, or both and at least a basic mastery of the Rokushiki and Haki, both of which are the main target of Arowen when he first learned that he was in one piece, as for devil fruits?!! hmm he wouldn't dare think about them and that's for various reasons

first they are extremely rare, and only with enough luck would he be able to get them, second the powers of the devil fruit would gather a lot of unwanted attention which he doesn't need for now after all he is still extremely weak after all and finally the glaring weakness of all devil fruit users, the sea, if he was going to grow to be a powerhouse, having such a huge weakness is a no no for him plus he doesn't even know the source of those powers, there is the word devil in their name, and after his ordeal with the dream world what if there really was devils in the universe, and from his understanding even if there is a chance to be wrong he didn't want to be associated with such creatures, after all they are always referred to as nefarious, cunning and many more bad connotation, so he better stick to what is safe for him, Rokushiki and Haki are already op powers to have and they are applicable everywhere, with the main source for them is spirit and his enigma is spirit after all

so after a few question about where he is, the local customs, and directions in this island, Arowen gifted his canoe to jasper as thanks, he refused at first but Arowen managed to convince him, after that he made his way towards the Sebas port city

the way there was through a well trodden dirt road, so he went on his way planning his future, if you hadn't guessed it yet, Arowen chose to join the marine and not become a pirate, it is true that they corrupt, and dogs to the celestial dragons,'what that got to do with me! hum!' are his thoughts, he is not some hero wanna be who has morals that pierce the heavens with their righteousness, he is but a man, if they stay out of his way, there is no need to interfere, unless he was strong enough and in the mood, of course he got his limits as well, he is a human after all, a being of emotions, he wouldn't stand there if he sees a child being tortured and he can prevent it, but if he was powerless like now he could only stomach it even if it feel bad, thats just how the world works, if you're not strong enough you better forget about it

so he intends to join the marines, and climb the ranks enough to be taut the Rokushiki and Haki, for haki he could try it himself, trying to copy the cast but the anime didn't show enough for him to go by and he wasn't a heavy fan and couldn't trust the anime a 100% so it is better to learn properly from professionals, actual people who mastered the arts rather than waste time grasping at straws in the dark, but first things first he got to find a doctor, his hands were in a bad shape, he doesn't want to risk getting an infection and die before his story even began

the road to the town was quite safe, no animals attacked him on the way, otherwise he didn't know what to do, he didn't have any self defense against them, and he was weak by this worlds standard, he did know some mma fighting moves, but he was only a dabbler, he wasn't even fit, some belly and tity fat, if he would judge himself he would say that he is only above average in his old world strength wise

1 hour later he finally made it into town, he had to pay 100 belli as entry fee, but that was alright he got cash, next stop would be the doctor he better find him fast, and after snooping around for 5 minutes he got the directions to the nearest clinic

a few minutes later he made it there, and got treated after waiting in line for another hour, the doctor there gave him a quick checkup, put a yellow balm over his palm and wrapped his hands in bandages, the doctor said it will take him 2 days to heal, which surprised him quite a bit, it cost him 600 belli for the treatment and another 400 belli for a change of bandages and balm so a 1000 belli in total

"gee! money is running fast, and i still didn't eat or found lodging yet" he complained to himself

so while looking for a cheap and clean inn he bought a few fish skewers from a street stall on the way, and after 2 hours of pain stalking effort, he finally found one, it cost 500 belli a night, breakfast included, and so he went to sleep early, tomorrow he will start his plan by joining the marine
