Chapter 26 - Movement of the People
The Exodus from Atlantis went smoothly, American subs kept Chinese subs from attacking. LUCII4, using the Alliance's telemetry against them, was always able to coordinate with Admiral Freedman. Not one sub was ever able to pass Brazil. The surface fleet had a few paladins sneaking around. However they too were easily dispatched by sending out a few F-37's, from aircraft carriers.
Atlantis would have to be cleaned eventually, however with the people out, it closed itself down, awaiting reactivation. An empty shell on the ocean floor.
Waiting for a new life to return.
The fleets soon pressed on. The last 3 weeks were spent preparing coordinated attacks. Testing defenses here. Sabotaging production there.
All while consciously sleeping hordes over pack religious institutions. Taking any command, life for many, became a brutal yet content purgatory of the soul. Mindlessness & depravity abound.
Beijing, Mecca, Jerusalem, & the Vatican were the main centers of power. So the coordination and mobilization moved in on those 4 sites. Everyone knew what they were supposed to do.
The final fleets moved in place, on that day, launching EMP warheads.
The EMP's knocked China out of the fight almost instantly. They had been researching doing the same to her, but LUCII4 built hers faster & better. China's response would have been nuclear retaliation. Now they may as well have time traveled back to the 18th century. The transhumans helped by India's military, brought about a swift resolution in the Orient.
Similar stories were then told about Russia aiding transhumanism to take over Syria, Iran & Iraq. The charge through the north of Africa from the south into Israel was much bumpier. Many paladins stayed in EMP protected barriers, with their suits off, until after the blackouts.
These paladins fought like psychotics. Becoming whirling dervishes, sand caked blood, covering their armor. However many transhumanism had with them what looked to be glitter bombs. They sprayed nanites all over the marauding paladins as they fought. Within minutes, after each engagement, all of them were shut down. One after another they fell, until all of Israel was freed from papal grip. Many souls were downloaded into LUCIIdity before the paladins they took on, tipped over. From there they helped the cloud, processing what to do next as LUCII4 rebuilt their bodies, with new upgrades, for new incursions. If the war continued at this pace, they might be needed.
Sancta Sedes would need to fall for this to finally be over. Somehow the prototype EMP defenses at the Apostolic Palace had been installed. Which were working remarkably well. Popping the missiles, high powered lasers detonated them before they could be set off within an effective range. The Vatican Hill in Rome would need to be charged. Aerial cover will be needed.
Europe had become a land of mindless drones. Happy workers went about doing whatever it was they were told. Many had not bathed in weeks. Some were getting sick & passing it on to others. Madness & power consumed the pope. Soon, none but Ramirez could even speak to him anymore.
