The Big War

On September the 1st, Hitler ordered his troops to Poland. The invasion of Poland was the final straw for Britain and France. There was no justification for the invasion other than just simply annex more land, so Britain and France deliver an ultimatum to Hitler. Withdraw his troops or there would be a war. The Demand was refused by Hitler and on September the 3rd Neville Chamberlain told the people that they are in a war with Germany. Some Hitler's generals told Hitler that they aren't ready for a second European massive war. Germany's rearmament predicted war with Britain and France would happened in 1945, by that time Germany would have their own aircraft carrier, large U-boat fleets and powerful tank forces. Germany used Blitzkriegs tactics means lightning war. Blitzkriegs tactics was meant to be achieving quick victory rather than drown in a long attrition war. It's used first time in Poland and it is proofed to be really effective. In less than a month Polish army was annihilated and German's army the wehrmacht consolidating the west side of Poland. Where Soviet union conquer the eastern part. As  Molotov and Ribbentrop has agreed in Molotov Ribbentrop pact. The war declaration from British and France send a shock wave all over the Europe but it is not effected Germany. Belgium, Holland and Norway declared themselves as neutral in the war. Britain and France only could do little to help Poland. Instead they prepared themselves in case Hitler charge west. This is the start of a phony war between German and France. Phony war is a period of time were it seemed that they do everything in a war time except an all out attack. France mobilized their troops to the border and British make a expeditionary force to sent into France mirroring the WW1. At sea German's U-boat and surface raider did sink unprotected merchant ship while in the air, British aircraft made an attack on German shipping or conducted leaflet drop over the Ruhr region. In south Atlantic a drama was about to unfold that would be a legend, the German's pocket battleship Graf Spee was attacking British merchant ship capturing their crews and sinking them. The crews were then put on Graf Spee support ship the Altmark for returning to Germany. Three British cruiser met German ship in the battle and manage to inflict enough damage to force the German battleship into neutral.
