The Plan

A few days passed ever since the incident. The incident being Yuki, a princess having a relationship with a commoner, Lucian.

This news spread like wildfire and it soon reached Fyre. Both the kingdom and the person.

"Who is this boy?"

"We don't know, but he's a commoner, that's all we know."

"HA! Who knew they would steep so low, a relationship between a commoner and a princess? Disgusting."

"Your majesty, you know your son has to marry her rig-?"

"I know that, who the hell cares though? My son knows exactly what to do."

Fyre, the cruelest phoenix in history. Everyone in Fyre hates him and his son. Why his son? His son is even crueler than him. Like father, like son, treating women like trash. He started a war with the kingdom of Kori just because their ruler was a woman. This marriage? It's a trap. Right as soon as Pire lays his hands on Yuki, they'll use her as a hostage until Yukino gives up her throne and surrenders to Fyre.

Drowned by greed and desires. This is why Fyre and Pire are hated. When Pire was conceived, Fyre threw his mother out like trash. And... you get the point. He raised him to be what he wants, and now they're both garbage.

"Just violate them, then throw her away like garbage. It's not like there is anything she can do about it."

"Father, this is wrong."

"Shut up, Smoke! You can't even flare red flames! You're not even worthy of a name suiting for a phoenix. Your just smother and ashes. You're lucky that I even let you stay in here. Why can't you ever be like Pire?"

Smoke flinched.

Smoke is also the eldest son of Fyre and the half brother of Pire. Unlike his kin, his flames are dim and unable to be lit. He was a weak one, you can say.

Unlike his father, he believes in justice and honor. But the people standing in his way are his father and his brother. He is the secret leader of the rebellion and is planning to overthrow his father. If only he had the firepower though. There are some in the army that supports Fyre and some of them are commanding figures.

"Let us get ready for tomorrow. It should go according to plan. You are all dismissed."

Smoke got up, glaring at his father before he left.

{Smoke POV}

Damn father, that selfish bastard. Always caring about him and his own power. Pire is also the same, even when I told him father's teachings are wrong, that son of a bit-... that piece of shit still follows father. Like he's a god or something.

This is bullshit.

"Master Smoke."

A servant at the end of the hall called for me.

"Yes?"

"A message for you."

He handed me a rolled piece of paper. I unrolled it and read it thoroughly.

Really? He's going to send support? That's good news.

Even if we are on the winning side, almost everyone wants us to lose. That includes some members of the immortal council.

Ddraig... I owe him after this. After all, he's always disobeying Mr. Ultima's commands for other people's sake.

I need to go over to headquarters after everyone falls asleep.

"Send a message to headquarters."

"Yes."

***

It was now midnight. I have to sneak out of this place now and head to headquarters. The good thing about not being a true phoenix is that no one can sense my presence. Though I'm not proud of it, it's exactly what I needed. My aberrant skill is of no use since it requires me to be a phoenix. It is called Verglas Flames. I don't understand it as it wasn't recorded in the book of phoenix.

Anyway, I exited the palace with no struggle and headed into town. No one recognized me as I had a cloak on.

Soon, I arrived in front of a low-end bar. When I entered, there were multiple tough-looking dudes glaring at me. When I took my hood off, they immediately recognized me and guided me to the basement where our base was.

"Prince Smoke."

"Sergent."

Sergent is a veteran of my father's army. He's decided to join the rebellion after my father killed his brother who had tried to assassinate him.

"I heard you received a message from Ddraig."

"I did, he's bringing support he said, I don't know when but he said he'll bring him before tomorrow."

"Him? You mean he's only bringing one?"

"Well, whatever Ddraig gives us, it has to be promising."

"We'll see about that."

A few hours passed. It was a loud night at the bar. Everybody was drinking, getting drunk, that stuff. But they were still preparing for tomorrow, the Coup d'état. We are planning to overthrow Fyre from his throne and make me the new king.

"Fyre has ruled long enough to be called a tyrant, we need a new leader! Smoke! He will be our king after we take down Fyre!"

As the Sergent finished his speech, or whatever it was, everybody cheered. Yes, father has been ruling like a tyrant, not giving a care about his people. It needs to change.

Clang!

The bar door suddenly busted open. We immediately jerked our heads toward the door and entering was Ddraig, Divinus, and a cloaked figure, carrying a boy.

This boy, he's the one that's everyone has been talking about. It's all over the papers. The one with the relationship with Kori's princess, Yuki.

"We have arrived."

I walked up to Ddraig and shook his hand.

"Thank you."

As we sat down, Ddraig explained to me his plan for tomorrow and how we're going to do it.

"So you want us to-"

"Yes, I want you to bring him along the wedding."

"What for? Aren't we supposed to take him out before the wedding?"

"Where's the fun in that when we can do it during the wedding?"

Ddraig may look nice, but deep down inside, he just loves destruction. Though we do want the wedding to be delayed or canceled, we could just do that right before it even starts. Ddraig, he may be the cataclysmic dragon, but to us, he's called the dragon of ruin. He's powerful and dangerously smart.

"Uhh... where am I?"

The boy was waking up, Ddraig smiled and got up from his seat and helped the boy up.

"Just in time. Lucian, this is Smoke. Smoke, Lucian."

I held my hand out, Lucian hesitated, then he shook my hand.

"So, what can the boy do?"

"We wish we can show you, but we might have to go somewhere vast and bright."

If we have to go somewhere that big, then he must have some skills that might be beneficial. Maybe his aberrant.

"Ok, so we wait for tomorrow, right?"

"Yes."

"So what's the plan?"

Ddraig grinned as he took the liquor off the table and chugged it down.

"Haaaaa~, tomorrow, I want you to sneak Lucian inside. I prefer that he's one of the guests. Then it won't be suspicious."

"But his face is all over the place."

"That's why he'll be wearing a scarf, specifically this one."

Ddraig placed a chrome scarf on the table.

Wait a minute, this scarf-!

"Yes, it's that scarf, the scarf of alteration."

The scarf of alteration, a scarf that allows the wearer to change their appearance to however they look like.

"And besides, it is taking place in Kori, right? So this scarf will warm him up."

"Then what? What happens after I sneak him in?"

"Then just when the wedding begins, that's when it all goes down. All you have to do is fight Fyre, I heard that your power is near his."

"But I don't have my flames yet. I can't beat my father without flames."

"Don't worry, you'll awaken them, soon."

"...I see."

Soon, huh?

I looked over at Lucian who was looking around all confused.

"Father."

"Huh?"

I turned around. It was Genesis, my daughter. She is 15 years old. Born on the 6th month of the 21st day. I never told my father that she was my daughter, or that I had a daughter because I know what he does to all women, even if it was his kin.

Bastard.

"Can we really rely on him? Isn't he the one-?"

"Yes, I know, but we must listen to Ddraig. After all, he's our most important asset. Remember, I'm doing this all for you."

"And mother."

"...yes... and your mother."

I hugged Genesis. I promised myself I wouldn't let my father lay a hand on her, nor my brother, not anyone. After what my father did to my love. She was human, the one thing he despised. And he burned her to ashes in front of my eyes. I've kept Genesis a secret for a long time, I'll avenge her.

"Now, go back to sleep, we have a job tomorrow."

My daughter's job is to assassinate all of my father's loyal companions as the Coup d'état is going on.

I turned around, glanced at Lucian and walked up to him.

"I'm trusting you tomorrow."

Lucian looked at me with confusion, but he closed his eyes and nodded.

Tomorrow, the Coup d'état shall begin.
