Pire was being distracted by Genesis, so I can use recovery right now.

I have 5 thousand mana right now. I can use restoration and then I have mana left for one more move.

I glanced up at the garden, which was actually a balcony. A garden balcony? Balcony garden? It looks more like a garden than a balcony.

There were people watching, I didn't see that Smoke guy until he looked over the ledge.

I'm glad that I didn't have to fight him instead of Pire, or I might have lost, fast. I also saw Fenrir and Yuki, glad that she's safe.

So, it looks like they've finished up, it's just Pire that's left.

I should use recovery now so I could get back in the fight, I already know that Genesis won't be able to fire Pire by herself. Well, that's what I would've said if she wasn't dealing so much damage to Pire right now.

Pire had cuts all over his body, his fire armor was undamaged but the uncovered parts were all bloodied up.

Genesis appeared in front of him and swung her dagger upwards, striking Pire in the chin, disabling his fire armor.

She's fast, probably faster than me.

After that, she launched a bombardment of high-speed punches. She was so fast that even the air was being affected. From the sound of her punches, I'd say that she's the one to focus on speed more than strength.

While Pire was being bombarded. I noticed that he wasn't reacting to the punches even though his armor was off. It was as if he was just resting, regaining his stamina.

Then suddenly, Pire grabbed both of Genesis's wrist.

"Got you now!"

He said with a sadistic, bloodstained face.

"Aah!"

"Now, let's see what you taste like."

He was reaching in closer to her, near her face. Genesis was trying her hardest to resist, but it was no use. Like me, she's also on the same level as me, well not really. Her power is estimated to be at level 156, so her strength and defense were lower than Pire's.

"Brother, NO!"

I heard Smoke yell from the top of the balcony.

"She's my daughter, your niece!"

"Niece? Who's her mother? Was it that woman that you loved? My, she was nice, she was calling your name while we did it."

"W-what?"

"Yeah, well, that was before father scorched her. Wish she lived longer, though."

Jeez, this is some weird family shit. But all this makes me hate Pire more.

"You!"

Smoke was going to jump off the balcony, but he collapsed in the middle of it.

"Smoke!"

His comrades went over to catch him as he was going to fall off the balcony.

"Father!"

"Silence you! How I always wanted to see Smoke die. Did you know that when us pure-blooded phoenixes run out of energy, our body will act the same as a human?"

"What?"

"Interesting right? If he falls down here, he's not just going to be hurt, he's going to die while he's at it."

"No. Father!"

Smoke fell off the ledge and was now descending towards the ground.

This is the time to use recovery. No, even if I did, I wouldn't get him in time. He was almost near the ground now, only a 2 meters apart.

It's time for my secret weapon.

It's started. Everything was now frozen, or that's what it looked like. I could move regularly, but others couldn't. Everybody was frozen, I walked towards the area that Smoke was going to land. I jumped up and got a hold of him. When I did, he was moving along with me. Well, he wasn't actually moving; I was moving with him.

I then laid him on the ground softly and returned to where I originally was before.

Then everything returned to normal. Everybody was worried whether Smoke had survived that fall or not until they saw him on the ground, safe and alive. Genesis was weak in her legs and Pire was irritated.

"Well whatever, he won't be able to stop me now. Now let's see how my niece feels."

This bastard, he even goes for his own kin? This is beyond disgusting.

I immediately got up and was going to dash at Pire. Genesis was crying, and Pire liked it.

But then I remembered what Pire said. When a Phoenix runs out of energy, their body becomes like humans, so that means he's vulnerable right now.

"Genesis! Try fighting back! Then get out of the way!"

Genesis looked at me and then stepped on Pire's foot, escaping from Pire's grasp. Then she kicked him down onto the ground and backed away.

"Gaah!"

It's time.

I started channeling energy into my right hand.

Dmm!

I used my remaining mana to form an energy blade that wrapped around my hand. Then, as I pointed it up into the air, it extended while spilling so mana aside.

Hwooo!

A stream of white and blue energy towered up, piercing through the clouds.

"W-what the?"

"Take this you filthy bastard!!!"

I slashed at him with the long energy blade. As the blade hit him, his body was being crumbled while in the stream that my blade left. He began turning into flakes of ashes.

"YOUUUUU!!!!!!!"

"Fuck you, just die already!"

And there he was. He was now just a bunch of flakes being blown in the air. A phoenix may be immortal. But when they run out of energy, they are just like humans, vulnerable and frail.

"I-I killed him right?"

Smoke said as he was struggling to get up on his feet, Genesis was running towards him and helped him up. As he was up, not only him, but everyone was looking at me with an astonished look.

"W-what?"

"No, I was just amazed at how you took him out so easily."

"Well, I remember what he said. About how a phoenix becomes human when they run out of energy. Wait, are you still a human?"

"Yes, but I'll recover once I get some rest. So you used our weakness against him."

"Yes, wait, does this apply to all of you?"

"Only pure-blooded phoenixes. Genesis is a hybrid, half-human, and half phoenix so she won't get out weakness since she is already huma-"

Smoke was interrupted as he began coughing.

"You should get some rest."

"I should thank you, Lucian. I should also thank you for saving my daughter."

"Uhh."

I looked at Genesis, who was looking away from me.

"Well, I didn't really save her, she kind of did it herself. All I did was tell her to get away, and she did. That was smart of her."

Genesis turned her back on me.

"Hmph."

Hmph? What did I do? I just complimented her.

"Sorry about Genesis, she doesn't really talk to other boys, so she doesn't know how to respond."

"I see."

The courtyard door opened up and a group of men ran towards Smoke. Another group also walked out. It was Yuki, Fenrir, and the queen, Yukino, Yuki's mother. They were approaching me, Yukino was putting on a stern face. Am I in trouble?

W-what do I do? Kneel? Bow? Drop onto the floor and beg?

I dropped onto the floor and was going to do that, but then Fenrir barked at me.

"What are you doing you, idiot?!"

"What am I supposed to do?"

The queen couldn't help but laugh. I'm embarrassing myself in front of a queen.

"This boy is funny. Is this really your choice?"

She was talking to Yuki. Yuki gave off a shy smile and looked at me.

"Yes. No one can replace him."

Who are they talking about? Me? It sounds like me.

"Well then, it's settled. What was your name again?"

"L-Lucian, Lucian Caelum."

"Lucian. My daughter has some feelings for you. What is your response?"

"Feelings?"

I looked at Yuki, who was admiring me. She has feelings for me? Like, I like you feelings?

I never had a girl like me before. Back in my previous life, I was the loner in the corner. The one no one really gave a care about. The one that no one even looked at.

"I-I guess... umm... yeah..."

The queen clapped her hands.

"It's a yes."

Yuki then threw herself at me and kissed my lips.

Everyone immediately turned their attention towards us.

"So the rumors were true, your relationship-"

"You two are dating."

I tried yelling, but instead, it came out like this:

"I'm sorry Luc-, no, master Lucian."

Oh no, she's already accepted it.

Then Yuki got off me and smiled.

"I'll be in your care, darling."

Now that Fyre, his companions, and Pire were eliminated. Smoke ascended to the throne and is now the king of Fyre. The first thing Smoke did as the new king changed the name of the kingdom. It was reverted back to its original name, Phenix, after Fyre had changed it to his own name. The second thing he did as the new king was to undo all the terrible things his father had done, destroy villages, heavily taxing people, etc. He has also ended the war with Kori. They established a treaty called the Union. Since Fyre was now gone and Smoke was the new king, he has taken his father's seat in the council, which a majority of the council approved. He was now praised as a hero.

Even though Lucian delivered a final blow to Pire, he didn't want the credit for it and so he wasn't mentioned in any papers. The one who did take credit for Pire's death was Smoke's daughter, Genesis.

A week has passed since Fyre's death. It was now the 18th day of the 9th month. The entrance ceremony for the hero academy.

Ddraig was looking out the window of the principal's office, drinking some tea. He had a smug face as he looked down on Lucian, who was daydreaming at the front of the gate.

"This year is going to be entertaining. Right assistant principal Divinus?"

"SHUT THE HELL UP AND DO YOUR PAPERWORK ALREADY!!!!!"
