Chapter 7

It couldn't be this way with Natalie not her walking away to go back to that so called husband of hers. Being that it had only been a week but we were closer than anyone else would have thought. I felt alone as she walked away and got into the car to leave with someone that would take her to the airport since her car is still broken down. All I could do is call Sheila and let her know what happened. Though it is my fault for getting mad in the first place because Natalie found out about my first love Sarah. It wasn't her fault that she had to know more about me but that led to me knowing more about her. Before I could reach the phone, I heard stomping footsteps approach me, and this is it, Sheila is pissed off about Natalie they were close too.

"Are you that damn dense to let her go?" Sheila demanded.

I dared to look at her though all I could do was hold my breath and sigh.

"She wanted too after I got mad at her for finding out about Sarah." I said as I deeply regretted it.

"You would rather sit here and mope about a long lost lover than enjoy one who appreciated you. Amber, you have been with some crazies over the years but Natalie is actually a great business woman with a damn good personality. I can't believe you let her go." Sheila replied, crossing her arms over her chest.

"She's fucking getting a divorce anyhow, she will be back and it's not like she would permanently stay in New York with that asshole." I responded not holding back anything at this point as I stared Sheila down.

"Bitch, she can divorce anywhere. We are going after her and saving her from that asshole. Get the keys to your fucking truck and lets go get that woman." Sheila replied with anger.

I didn't dare argue with Sheila. I grabbed the keys to my S-10 pick up truck and headed down to the back of the house where I kept it hidden from people. I met Sheila down by the driveway when I made my way around and we headed to New York though, in this case, we might actually make it before Natalie, I didn't have an address but if I waited outside somewhere for her then I might have a chance of getting her back. Sheila tried convincing me to stop at an airport since flying is faster but I refused to be in the air knowing that we could be seated with Natalie if the flights weren't packed and I hated heights, oh did I hate them. We drove for several more hours. That's when Sheila took over and she drove the rest of the way to New York. Never seeing the city before looked so huge but now catching Natalie seemed harder than she ever imagined.

"Let's head to the airport, I am sure she is to arrive soon if not a couple of hours. I am sure we can get markers and a poster while there for her. We have to make sure she finds you." Sheila said.

"I hope this plan works because if she goes back to him, I am done for and her life is ruined." I replied gripping my hands tightly together.

"Amber, it'll be okay, we will reach her. Let me get us to the airport and we will get set up to see her." Sheila responded.

Sheila drove us to the airport though it felt like an eternity to get there and once arriving hurried into a store to grab supplies then making out a sign for Natalie with hopes she hadn't been picked up by a taxi or anything yet. We grabbed the poster board and headed toward the terminal that read from Texas to New York with hopes Natalie is still on the plane. I caught sight of Natalie as I raised the sign up for her but as she looked in my direction, she looked shocked and disbelief at what was going on. I saw Natalie run over to us then run into my arms as I held her tightly then I released her.

"Amber, Sheila what are you both doing here?" Natalie asked.

"She came for you." Sheila said standing back smiling.

"For me? Amber, what is all this?" Natalie asked again, confused.

I couldn't take it anymore, I gathered Natalie in my arms and planted a deep passionate kiss that we both sunk into once we let go, Natalie's eyes sparkled with tears.

"Come back home to Texas, I don't care about your husband or anything else but you coming back with me. I can't be apart from you." I said still blushing from the kiss.

"I will come back to you soon, I have to go through this divorce, he convinced the judge to have it here that is also why I had to leave. Amber, that kiss felt so real though and I can't wait to have more but please go back home. I am going to stay with a friend for the time being so he doesn't bother me." Natalie replied, still wiping her tears.

Out of the blue a woman comes strolling up to the group trying to figure out who Natalie kissed and who is the other chick, it made Amber laugh.

"Dana, relax this is my soon to be girlfriend Amber ummm, we never covered last name basis and Sheila, ummm, also the same. I stayed with Amber for two weeks and her best friend would come around to hang out." Natalie said.

"Girlfriend? Girlfriend? You are getting a divorce to be in a lesbian relationship. No, no, you belong to me last I heard in the lesbian department. You will not be going back to wherever the hell these two bumpkins came from." Dana replied pissed off.

"Wow! Dana, you have a man and two, you aren't the least bit lesbian. Jealousy is way over your head. I will stay in a hotel downtown Dana, this is ridiculous. I am sorry Amber and Sheila for this awkward meeting." Natalie responded.

"No worries, we can spot homophobic miles away. Luckily, our bumpkin selves will be heading out. Natalie, I will see you when you come home and be safe. We are here for you." I replied calmly as can be.

Sheila and I walked away without looking back knowing that Dana is still yelling at poor Natalie for being in a soon to be relationship with her. It took everything I could not to go back there and beat the shit out of Dana for a rather rude statement toward Natalie all because she admitted to wanting to be my girlfriend after the divorce.
