Chapter 18

Natalie felt really uncomfortable having Dana in the same home as her though by that following morning Sheila and Dana were nowhere to be found on the property and that made Amber go into panic mode knowing her best friend is about to be ditched so she can go back to married life with her husband and kids, not that it is a bad thing but Dana is straight as an arrow, she isn't into women, never has been an that is why Amber is worried that this all might break Sheila.

Several months went by before Sheila appeared again this time with a look of disappointment.

"She really left me..Dana went back to her asshole husband. I am so heartbroken. We didn't even make it down the aisle like we had planned." Sheila said sadly on the porch.

"Down the aisle? Sheila, are you fucking nuts? Dana would have never married you. For one, she is straight and two, that woman needs to know where her life stands." Amber replied furiously.

"Compared to Jolene at least she cared and wanted me. I would rather be with a straight woman than another nut case like Jolene. Amber, you and Natalie turned against me as soon as I got with Dana and now that she is gone, I have no one once again, and I actually liked Dana maybe even loved her but I will never know." Sheila responded with doubt in her voice.

"I will give you that she is better than Jolene though I barely know her and as for loving her that maybe a possibility within several months though I can't say much since I fell for Natalie. Wait, our situation is the same, how the fuck? Two straight married women from New York walk into our lives." Amber replied though she didn't realize everything the way it went.

Natalie decided to leave the conversation since it dawned on Amber what truly has happened with everyone and it made her realize the same that she did as well for a lesbian woman though she was in the middle of divorce an Dana might have as well when she met Sheila in New York. Natalie went to the couch and turned the television to tune out Amber and Sheila arguing over their lives on what is supposed to be happening. Once they were done arguing Amber stood in front of the television with a serious look, that isn't good when Amber isn't happy.

"Natalie, how far were you into your divorce before ending up here to meet that someone?" Amber asked.

"Six months, I am still fighting with Aaron to get that divorce finalized though they may now since he is in jail and won't be released." Natalie replied.

"Six months? Wow, that is harsh. Wait, Sheila, how long did it take Dana?" Amber asked.

"Two weeks from the time we met her." Sheila replied not liking where this is going.

"Within those few months, it didn't dawn on you that Dana would go back with her ex husband that has her children also? Sheila, her divorce to him was to make him jealous of being with you. You will learn one of these days not to fall for someone like her." Amber stated without biting her tongue.

"Amber, shut the fuck up! I know, I fucked up but did it ever clue you in that Natalie could have done the same to you. Either of these situations are better or worse, the only outcome is that Natalie is still here and I have to listen to your mental case go downward again." Sheila replied with anger in her voice.

"Ladies, ladies, calm down." Natalie said.

Natalie watched as Sheila went one way and Amber went outside. Natalie couldn't believe the argument that boiled over them both. It didn't take long for either of them to scream on other ends of the house either with frustration. Natalie stood there unsure of who to console first if at all. Natalie barely sat down when Sheila came barreling down the stairs with suitcases and backpacks.

"Don't say a word. I am leaving, and I am not coming back until I am with someone who makes me happy if it means Dana coming into my life then so be it. You fell in love with a woman you barely know and that is how it started with me and Dana. I have no idea where I will end up but for now, I want to be left alone and away from you two." Sheila said, grabbing her things.

Natalie saw Amber come through the door to see Sheila struggling with her luggage. Natalie knew that this would be another standoff. Amber didn't say a word and left the door wide open for Sheila without bothering to say anything. All of Natalie's insides were screaming at her to speak but she also knew this was their fight though what came out of her mouth should have stopped everything.

"Wait! Please, wait! Sheila, I have one question: why did Dana go back to her husband and children?"

It was the last thing Sheila said that hurt her more than anything.

"Because she wanted to be with someone other than the homophobic world that she lived in with him and she saw more of you then anyone to know you were into women and not men. You knew how to hide it well."

Natalie dropped to the ground with tears flowing down her face that Dana actually had a heart for someone like her and her lifestyle. It didn't make a difference what her husband said, she came to watch me fall in love and be with someone who treats her the same.

"She wasn't in love with her husband...out of all that she didn't love him but she loves her kids." Natalie said out loud.

"Natalie isn't such a dumb city woman after all, Amber. Look at that." Sheila said to Amber with a smile.

All three of them laughed with everything that went down those whole four months. Natalie felt relieved that Dana might come back for Sheila though it may take her to say something to Dana and bring her back.
