The rest of the sorting was uneventful.
I talked with a few first years who seemed alright. They were Daphne Greengrass, a blond-haired girl with blue eyes and aristocratic features who was usually reserved. She was also the heir to the 'Greengrass' family.
Tracey Davis, a Half-blood with slightly curly brown hair and warm brown eyes, she was pretty cheerful compared to Daphne and liked to make jokes.
Then there was Blaise Zabini, a dark-skinned boy who was a pureblood and apparently has had 6 stepfathers over the years, who died suspiciously one after the other.
Though Daphne and Blaise, Blaise especially, still had some of that 'pureblood' entitlement, it wasn't nearly as bad as that blond kid called Draco Malfoy, though I did eventually have to tell Blaise to shut up after he started bragging about himself for a minute straight.
I can understand being proud of your family and living up to certain traditions, but you need to have a balance of being proud and having respect for yourself and your family, to just being arrogant.
The rest of the world, with the exception of a few other countries, are far ahead of Britain. Most didn't just brush off Mundane technology.. or 'Muggle' technology as they call it here, and their respective magical worlds are better because of it.
From the brief interactions I've had so far, they believe that Albus Dumbledore is the strongest wizard in the world, which made me snort on this weird but nice tasting drink called 'Pumpkin Juice'. Albus Dumbledore wasn't even recognised as being in the top 5 strongest in the world, but it seems this Country is cutoff from everything and anything 'International'.
At the Head Table, there were multiple people staring at me throughout the feast which creeped me out quite a bit. Albus Dumbledore and his horribly colored clothes, Lily Potter and her irritating stare that tried and failed to act like a kicked puppy, there was even some guy with a crooked nose and hair that looked like it had been doused in oil who stared at me as if I was a complicated puzzle. 'Weirdos'.
Finally, the feast ended after the Headmaster basically spouted some insane shit that involved dying if I go somewhere on the 3rd floor.
'Is this seriously a school?'
Not bothering to care anymore, I made my way, along with all of the other first years, to the Slytherin Common Room.
After the 'prefect' explained some basic stuff like where our rooms were and the password to get in, we made our way to bed.
My room was fairly normal. It had a bed, a desk and a chair with my public trunk at the bottom of my bed.
Not bothering to get into bed, I took out a small trunk from my pocket, enlarged it, and walked into it, shutting and locking the trunk as I did so.
Ahead of me, there was a corridor with multiple doors on each side. I walked along until I was near the end and opened the second to last door on the right.
Inside, there was a large room that had polished wooden walls all around, with a nice color scheme, mostly of high-quality wood with highlights of green, like the curtains to my bed that was opposite the fireplace at the other end of the room.
Above the fireplace, there was a portrait that had a man inside. Below, was the engraved name 'Salazar Slytherin'.
In the back right corner, a large bookshelf was filled with books of different colors and shapes that filled a large amount of space and held 100s of books.
On top of the bed, was Bolt. Making my way over, I stroked the black, white-pawed kneazle that immediately lifted its head to look at me.
He immediately jumped up, where I caught him.
'Harry! You're back!'
'Hehe, have fun here, Bolt?'
'No, it was so boring, I want to come with you!'
'Don't worry, I can keep you with me for the most part, but I can't take you to lessons.'
At this, Bolt made a pouting noise and jumped back into the bed..
Only to be grabbed and lifted upwards.
'This is my bed, not yours'
'Hmph.'
I just sighed, then yawned. Flicking my wrist, my robes suddenly changed into pyjamas. I put myself under the covers and fell asleep a few minutes later, with Bolt curled up at the foot of my bed.
..
A little over a year after I bought Bolt, Gramps asked me if I wanted to do a bonding ritual with him, to which I immediately agreed with, as Bolt was my first true 'friend'.
After the ritual was done, Bolt was not my 'pet' anymore, and was instead my familiar. We ended up forming a mental-link which was incredibly rare. Most people who had familiars could at most feel their familiars emotions, but I could talk to Bolt in perfect clarity, who after the ritual, had become more intelligent than before. Ever since, we have been almost inseparable, and are still best friends to this day.
..
Waking up at 6:00am, I started my morning run, which I decided would be around the lake that we went over yesterday.
Getting back after running and some basic exercises at 7:00am, I made my way to the Great Hall which was almost empty, other than most staff and a few students sitting around.
Daphne was also sitting at our table, so I made my way over to her.
"What are you wearing?" She said as soon as she saw me, inspecting my black shirt and trousers.
I just looked at her with a raised eyebrow, "They're called clothes."
"Yea, I know that" she cried out indignantly.
"So why did you ask?" I asked while piling food onto my plate.
"You're supposed to where robes."
"Meh, they're uncomfortable to run in."
She looked confused. "Why were you running?"
"I was exercising."
"Why would you do that?"
This time, it was my turn to look confused, "It keeps you fit and healthy? You have more energy and stamina? Your magic flows better in a healthy and strong body?" I listed off.
"What do you mean, your magic flows better? If it did that, then everyone would do it."
"Wait, you mean you didn't even know that?" What the hell are they taught here?
"If I did, then I wouldn't be asking." She said, still looking doubtful.
At this point, I was confused. "So nobody here exercises?"
She just shook her head, "I don't think so."
"You should, what if you need to run away from something, you'll run out of stamina extremely quickly, what if you need to duel someone for a prolonged period of time?"
Sighing, I just started eating while Daphne had a contemplating look on her face.
After a while, the rest of the students had gotten to the hall, and the crooked-nosed, greasy haired man from before handed us a schedule each, and when he came to me, he stopped.
"Mr Potter, the Headmaster wants to see you after dinner later today."
I just ignored him as if I hadn't heard him.
The man sneered "Mr Potter, are you ignoring me?"
I finally lifted my head, face filled with confusion, "Sir, I don't think he can hear you?"
"What are you on about, Potter?"
"Well.. Mr Potter is at the Gryffindor table across the hall.. he can't hear you from here."
"I'm talking about you, Potter."
"Sir, I think it was made pretty obvious my name is Harry Lightbolt." I said, emphasising the word Lightbolt.
At this point, everyone around me was looking dumbfounded, I briefly heard whispers like 'Potter? Like the boy-who-lived Potter?' which was starting to irritate me.
He just sneered once again, "Stop lying, you're obviously a Potter, you look just like your father."
At this point, I was sufficiently annoyed. Snatching my schedule out of his hand, I sneered back with equal amounts of disdain oozing off my face. "Sir, I've made it quite obvious what my name is, if you want Mr Potter, he's stuffing his face over at the Gryffindor table, now if you'd excuse me." I started walking over to the doors leading out of the Great Hall.
After 2 steps, I felt a hand on my shoulder try to turn me around, and I didn't hesitate to grab the hand, flip it over my body and slam them to the ground in front of me.
The whole Hall turned their heads towards me but I didn't really care, "If you touch me again, Sir" I said, with the word 'Sir' dripping in disdain, "then I will make you regret ever being born.".
The whole time, my voice was deceptively calm, but my eyes were glowing in the color of the Killing Curse, filled with a hidden fury.
Under the eyes of the whole Hall, I left the room and just walked back to the Common Room.
