"Pumpkin. Are you happy?" Dad asked me with a sad smile and I could feel the pain he was feeling at the moment.
"I'm happy Dad." I gave a huge smile to him and he pulled me in his embrace hugging me as if I will disappear the second he would loosen his grip.
All my life I have been close to my dad like we're the bestie and he knows me more than I know myself. He has been my favorite person in this whole world and now leaving him seems to be the most hardest thing I could ever thought of.
For a second, I feel too young to be married but when I look at my age I don't see any reason not to get married. It's not that I'm not happy with this marriage but it's just that the anxiety of living in the whole new world made me feel nervous yet excited.
Excited in the sense that I will be living my dream in reality and no one would ever wake me up from this beautiful moment of my life. It still feel surreal that my dream of living in the fairy tale came true and within few minutes I will enter the world that exists only in my dream.
Also there is this pain of leaving your favorite person and the one who took care of you behind with only the memories and the photographs that were captured.
"Dad!" I called controlling my emotions and he pulled away from me. He then pecked me on my head making me close my eyes to relish the moment.
"If ever..ever you feel like he isn't the one for you then come to me and I will help you out." He said in a stern voice and gave me I'm-serious look.
When Vincenzo had proposed me in front our family, everyone was happy except my dad. He had almost hit him if not for my mom who was holding his hand.
"Gio!" My mom's voice interrupted our sad union and she stood beside my dad.
"Giovani Santorini! What nonsense are you saying?" Mom hissed giving disapproving look to dad.
"Our daughter is a married woman now so stop trying to scare her off. She is a responsible woman and she would know better. Don't encourage her to do bad things." Mom gave a ear full to dad and I chuckled earning a glare from my dearest mother which disappeared as if she remember that it's my after-weeding party.
My mother and father are the one who inspired or I should say made me to fantasied about the existence of true love. I won't say they're perfect but rather they are perfect for each other.
They know each and every thing of each other and instead of getting tired they stick together whenever they have chance. They have accepted the fault of each other and are happy to spend the life together.
"Darling! I was just looking out for our precious pumpkin." Dad tried to explain but mom wave him off putting all her attention towards me.
Mom gave me a warm smile while squeezing my arm and the look on her eyes made me believe that I have my life ahead and I'm the one who can make it or break it.
"Gio! Our baby has grown up." Suddenly, mom croaked out while looking at my face and my dad pulled her into his embrace.
"Indeed our little Zeta is now a married woman. Sometime ago we were worrying about her school life and now she is going to leave our home." Dad said with a bitter smile and tears fell out of my eyes.
Agh! Being a daughter is hard sometimes.
"Zeta! Baby. Don't cry. Your father is being emotional. Every girl needs to get married and leave her father's home. Vincenzo will take good of you." Mom pulled away from my dad and wiped the tears off my face.
"Gio! Now stop being the cry baby and let's celebrate our daughter's weeding day." Mom said in a hoarse voice while lightly patting my head.
"Gio!" Mom called again when my dad didn't make any move.
"Pumpkin! Dad is happy that you are married but it's just..." Dad squeezed out a small smile while trying to sound happy.
"Mr and Mrs Santorini." A guest voice interrupted us and a man along with a woman came forward to congratulate us.
"Mr and Mrs. Brown." Dad greeted them followed by my mom.
"Hello uncle and aunt." I greeted showing a smile and it's first time in many years that I have interacted with the strangers.
As if sensing my discomfort mom squeeze my hand and I nodded looking towards my mom. I had already prepared myself to face the crowd and now I'm little bit nervous.
"Congratulations." Mr. Brown and Mrs. Brown wished with a big smile plastered on their face.
"Thank you." I replied feeling shy due to their stares.
"Aww...the bride is so beautiful. Mrs. Santorini she is the replica of you." Mrs. Brown squealed looking from my mom to me.
"Hehe. She is my daughter so she should look just like me." Mom said looking happy.
"And where is the groom?" Mrs. Brown asked looking for Vincenzo.
Oh yeah. Where is Vincenzo? I haven't seen him since the party had started.
"I'm here." A manly voice came from the left and we turned our head to see Vincenzo walking towards us along with my brother.
"Congratulations Mr.Dominique." Mr and Mrs Brown wished him and he nodded standing beside me.
"What a beautiful couple!" Another guest came and smiled looking at us.
I blushed looking at the floor and Mrs. Brown requested to take the photos with us. Then my bother called the cameraman and we stand in a straight line to take the group photo.
Then I find a warm sensation on my left hand and looked down to see my left hand on Vincenzo's.
"Smile my beautiful bride." Vincenzo whispered near my ear and my face became darker shade of red.
