Spontaneity - 2

I looked at his hand, and I rolled my eyes and passed by him.

"Let's go?"

I could hear him chuckle as he put his hand in his pocket.

Damn, the smell from earlier still lingers on him, and it's making me feel things inside. I looked back to where he was rooted and smiled.

"Aren't we going somewhere?" I asked.

He shook his head from amusement and pointed out at the car that was parked, five meters from where we were standing.

Well, sorry! I thought we were going to commute. Of course, he has a car.

I flashed him a fake smile and whispered, "Showoff" before laughing.

We were walking towards a golden brown SUV when out of nowhere, he asked me. "So, what type of food do you like?"

I'm not really picky about food. Any food that tastes delicious is my cup of tea. But since this is our first date, if you would call it like that, I would just narrow it down. Hehe.

I mean, Casper told me to be decisive when it comes to food during first dates. Guys have no clue whatsoever to what the girl they are dating likes, unless they've mentioned it earlier, and the guy is very attentive to details.

But in my case, I'm not sure what I want. I keep saying anything all the time because I can't decide on what to get. Usually, when I'm out with Casper or my friends, I would pick whatever they choose to save time.

So, I devised a plan to help me during these situations.

"Uhm, pasta? Pizza? Burger? I'm up for anything fast food right now."

HAHA! I memorized that one. Ladies, if you're on a first date, do not demand expensive restaurant dates. It depends on the man if he can afford it or not, but the rule is, some guys would love to pay for the first date. I know, you might say, I can pay for myself. Of course, you can! But out of respect, if they asked you, offer to pay but let them if they want to. Tell the boy that you can pay for the next time, securing another date with him. Trust me, it's foolproof.

When we arrived at his car, Dominic opened the car seat for me. I can't read whatever he's thinking. He was just smiling. Am I in trouble? Is it too late to back out now?

When he entered the driver seat, I was startled by his laugh. "Relax, Andi, I'm not going to kidnap you or do something bad to you."

Blood rushed to my face, and I could feel my cheeks feeling hot. Was I too obvious?

"Now, seat belts, please." He added. I obliged his request without looking at him.

He started the engine and went on the road.

The city is still bustling with cars since people are on their way home from work or school. I was just looking outside the car window, hoping to avoid Dominic's gaze. While observing him on the tinted window, his eyes were focused on the road straight ahead.

The lights from the streets reflect inside, showing me a glimpse of his beautiful side features.

"Don't go silent on me, Andi." He smiled, still looking at the road. I peeked at him. I can't tell Nic I'm getting shy over him or that he makes my stomach do a full-frontal flip.

"Well, where are you planning to take me?" Hoping to remove the awkwardness, I started the conversation.

"It's a secret." He grinned as he momentarily looked at me. "Do you wanna listen to music? There's a whole set of playlists there. Pick anything." as he pointed at the player.

"Well, don't mind me if I do." I operated his player and scanned on the songs in it. I bit my lips as I scrolled through the list of songs, thinking we might share the same taste in music. I don't know why, but this small detail is a bonus for me. It's rare to find someone who has the same taste of music as yours.

I pressed play, and the song Sunset Lover by Petit Biscuit hummed in the car. For that moment, I felt like forgetting everything and just enjoy the night. I closed my eyes, leaned, and rested my head on the seat to savor the feeling.

"Try opening the window." Dominic interrupted. I directed my eyes towards him, acting surprised at his remark. He just nodded in response, giving me a sign to go ahead and open the car window.

I did so, and the cold wind hit my bare face. I rested my chin on the window as I allow the breeze to come in. Shivers ran down throughout my skin, but it did not bother me. The moment was just surreal. It's been so long since I felt like this.

"You look like a puppy right now." I scowled at Dominic when he said this. Thanks for ruining my moment here! I gave his arms a little slap, which he overreacted as he tries to soothe the affected area.

"Are you hungry already?"

"A little, but tolerable," I replied as I went back to looking outside the window.

"Don't worry, we're almost there."

Five minutes into driving, and I've been changing the song three times now. Dominic kept teasing me on how I can't even finish the whole song, which I just replied with a tongue out.

"We're here." as he pointed at a small outdoor fast-food restaurant with a bright "Welcome" signage was hanging on the big tree near it. There were already a few people eating inside and outside.

Dominic parked the car, and before going outside, he looked at me sternly. "Let me open the door for you."

I chuckled and raised my hand in surrender. "Okay, boss."

He ran around the car and opened the door for me, "Welcome, my lady," as he offered his hand to help me get off the vehicle.

This time, I humored him and took his hand as I stepped out of his car. "Thank you, sir. Should I curtsy?" He squeezed my hand before I could commit an embarrassing act.
