*Kaine's POV*
I swear colourfully when she slips free.
Raven, or should I say Cora is such a strong woman.
She has been through hell and back. Dealing with abuse, being beat by everyone in your home town. The scars she will have with her till the day she dies. I hate thinking about what she has not told me or what more she could have gone through. Plus, being the main source of income for her family, or at least her gramps.
And now he's dead.
I cant imagine what she's going through, I can understand her though.
I lost my parents when the human king first attack our old home, before we moved to Malvolion.
His soldiers held me back pressing their feet on my wings against the floor. My face shoved into the ground.
I tried to break free but I couldn't.
I watched as the king himself kicked them down and cut their heads off.
I will never forget that day.
Ever since, I've taken the position as lord of my people and I formed an alliance with the fae in hopes of on day getting my revenge. I've spent years going from village to village searching for the lost princess.
At first we believed she was dead along with her parents so Connan to the role of lord but when her body was never to be found, hope spread.
When I found her, I had not expected her to be so beautiful.
Her long black hair, her figure and her beautiful eyes.
Her eyes are what told me she was the one I was looking for.
It got complicated when I learnt that she has no clue of her origins.
She tried to run showing she has no experience against magical creatures. Or she was just desperate.
When she first shifted, I felt something snap together.
The biggest surprise yet was our mate bond.
It is unheard of a dragon and fae having a mate bond. I am however, extremely happy.
She is mine and only mine.
I chase after her but she has the speed of a fae.
While dragons are faster than humans, we could never outrun of catch up to a fae.
Their speed is godlike. Their agility and grace is incredible.
I stop when she finally got a hold of him.
Before I can yell at her to stop, she does what I was hoping to stop her from doing.
*Cora's POV*
I grab him by his neck closing his airways making him gasp for air.
My smile does not leave my face as I watch him turn purple.
Finally reducing the pressure enough for him to breathe, he takes big breaths.
I shove him to the ground.
I approach him slowly this time knowing no one will stop me, I stomp down onto his chin.
I hear a painful crack causing him to scream out.
"I will rip you apart. Make you regret rejecting my gramps pleads for help. Make you regret what you did to me." I tell him.
He crawls backwards trying to escape me.
"Please.. please! I'm sorry!" He begs.
That just makes me even angrier.
He dares scream for help? Beg for me to stop?
Where was his mercy when he was cutting me, punching me, kicking me, whipping me?
There was none.
"You never showed me mercy. Neither will I." I tell him breaking his other leg.
If he were to survive this, which he won't, he would never be able to walk again.
With my new strength, I did not only break his bones but shatter them as well.
They are beyond repair.
He screams in pain and cries.
The towns folk have started to exit their homes and watch as I torture William but I ignore them.
"Cora, please. You don't want to do this. Everyone's watching." Kaine tells me emphasizing on the everyone.
"I don't care." I tell him.
My eyes never leaving Williams face.
I get closer to him and kick him in the chest.
Knocking the air out him, he falls fully, back flat against the gravel path.
Just as I'm about to kick him in the face and knock him unconscious, I feel an arrow rush past my head.
I whip around to see who dared to shoot a crossbow at me and see its Jeffrey.
The very same Jeffrey who helped William abuse me.
Jeffrey aided almost every time but he did something unspeakable to me.
Something that no one knows. Not Kaine, not William, not my gramps.
Just the two of us.
He's next.
I return to William and resume my revenge.
I did not have to worry about the second arrow that was headed my way because I heard it before it came anywhere near me.
Without turning around, I catch the arrow right beside my ear.
I am unstoppable.
I kick William in the nose breaking it and continue launching kicks at his face, stomach, chest, basically anywhere I could while catching arrow after arrow.
Doesn't Jeffrey realize his arrows are useless?
I glance at Kaine from the corner of my eye and see he has not moved.
He's upset with me.
He did not want me to get my revenge.
I told him what they did to me. What I've been through, mostly, and he does not think they deserve this?
I conceal my pain hoping it won't go through the bond and look back at William.
His entire body covered in blood.
I pick him up by the collar of his shirt and look at him dead in the eyes.
"For my gramps." I whisper to him.
Then, I snapped his neck.
I heard multiple gasps throughout the village but Kaine was dead silent.
I drop William's body and turn towards Jeffrey.
He was sad. Angry.
I could feel the emotions radiating off of him.
As well as his fear.
He knows he's next and after seeing what I did to his chief, he knows he's as good as dead.
He looks me in my eyes and drops his crossbow.
I did not make a move towards him.
He turns around and sprints towards the woods.
I let out a laugh.
It was a scary one. One that promised his death.
He could never run from me.
I walk towards the woods with confidence that I will catch him when I felt Kaine grab my arm.
"Cora you got your revenge. Lets leave." He says with warning in his voice.
I look him in the eyes.
I let him see the anger, sadness and emptiness of them.
"My revenge is not complete until he is dead." I tell him.
He looks disappointed.
Either at me, or at himself for not being able to stop me.
Either way, I continued my walk towards the woods.
When I reached the woods, I walked in further and looked around.
I listened and smelt for him and quickly found him.
I started running in the direction he left in and no long after I reached him.
I ran in front of his blocking his way.
He stops running and stares at me.
"What- How- When-" he stutters.
I laugh at him.
"I've changed. I'm not longer the weak girl you could pick on. Abuse. Rape." I tell him.
I see Kaine a little away from us.
If he heard me or not, I don't care.
I don't care about anything.
"Not to worry though. I will make your death quick. While William inflicted most of my visible scars, you gave me the worst ones. The mental ones. I can only hope that your death by me will bring you misery in hell." I tell him.
Before he could respond, I run towards him with my fae speed and snap his neck.
It's less than what he deserves but I'm tired.
I stand motionless in front of Jeffrey's body and stare at his lifeless body.
I feel Kaine wrap his arms around my waist hugging me from behind.
"Come, lets go home." He whispers.
I nod my head.
Malvolion is my home now.
"Wait, I want to go my hut first." I tell him.
He nods his head and follows me.
After a very short run, where Kaine struggled to keep up, I open the door to my old home.
My gramps bed and mine left untouched.
The sheets were made.
The kitchen was organized the way we always kept it. Our very little cutlery kept in the same place as always. All washed.
The small fire we used to cook our food was cold.
It has not been lit in a while.
Gramps cleaned the place. Organized it all.
He knew the villagers would deny his requests for help. He knew he was going to die.
I thought I would cry, scream, break down.
Yet I stood there staring at my old home feeling nothing.
I walk over to one of the drawers in the kitchen and pull out a match.
I light it and stare at the flame.
"Cora.. don't do this. This is your home." Kaine says trying to reason with me.
I shake my head.
"Gramps was my home." I tell him.
And with that, I toss the match onto my bed.
Not bothering to look at the flame for long, I walk out of the house and don't look back.
I keep walking towards the woods Kaine close behind me.
I am never coming back to Devlan ever again.
Kaine shifts into his dragon and I climb on.
I look behind us at glance down at the village.
The place I've spent my entire life living in would now be in chaos.
I've killed their chief and the second in command.
Not to mention, I started a fire.
Goodbye gramps.
