Chapter 12

"Please-" I heard him beg when suddenly I heard a book hit the ground, but it didn't just fall it was thrown.

"What's going on-" I mumble while I try to look at who was there, but all that was left was a book on the ground.

"It was just a bug." My mom lied and I nodded before finally going to sleep with one thought on my mind.

I need to figure out the truth.

-

"Akina!" I say happily while she walks into my small hospital room.

"I see you upgraded your room!" She said with a smile and I nodded

"They say if my physical therapy treatment continues as well as it has I could be out of the hospital in a couple of weeks!" I say with a smile and she walks over to the side of my bedside

"So how long until you can resume sports again?" She finally asked

"They said if I'm that determined in a month I can go back to school, and depending on how that goes-" I say but Akina cuts me off

"Wait you could play this year?"

"Maybe, we don't know yet." I hear my doctor say from the door and I smile at her

"But its a possibility," I say and she nods while she walks over to me

"How are you feeling today, L/n?"

"I'm doing great, I'm just a bit thirsty."

"Probably just a side-effect from taking you off of your IV so early." She said while she handed me a water bottle and wrote something down

"I'll be back in a bit to check on you." She said before leaving the room

"I'm so glad I don't have to do tests every single time a doctor comes in," I say while I turned my attention back towards Akina

"I bet, but really how are you?" She asked a bit worried

"I'm fine-" I say while I do a weird dance with my arms "See!"

"You look like an octopus." She comments and I fake pout a bit but we both end up laughing

"That's right, I got another recording," Akina says while she pulled out her phone

-Two weeks ago-

"Akina, how long have you known me?" I ask and she looks up from the book that was filled with our classmate's pictures

"We have been friends since 2nd grade. I had just moved from Tokyo to live with my Grandma after my Dad died." She said and my eyes widened at her words

"Oh I'm so-" Before I could finish my sentence she quickly cut me off

"No, you were the one that told me not to feel sorry for myself."

"I did?" I asked and she nodded

"That's how we met. One day during class something we were doing triggered memories of me and my dad, and so I ran out of the class crying. It was the 3rd time it had happened that week, and this was happening 2-3 times a week for the past 6 weeks." She explained

"But this day was different from the past 6 weeks, instead of me being by myself for awhile you followed."

-

"Why are you crying?" A younger me asked the girl who was crying

"Because m-my dad is dead." She sobbed while she slid her back down the wall

"Then you shouldn't cry." The young said girl said while she squatted down next to the girl that was crying

"You don't understand! It's not that easy!" The crying girl said while she pushed the other one down, causing her to fall on the ground

"You don't know how it feels to lose your dad!" She yelled while the other girl sat up, with her arms holding herself.

"You're right. I will never know that pain because I never at a father to begin with." She says and adds

"You should be happy that your Dad is now always watching over you. No matter where you go, he will always be by your side. So instead of crying shouldn't you smile?" The little girl says while she got off the ground

"So stop crying and feeling sorry for yourself. The world doesn't stop, you have to keep on going." The little girl said while she held out her hand towards the other one

"My name is L/n F/n, by the way!" She said with a huge smile on her face

"I-I'm Kim Akina." The other girl said while she reached her hand out to grab the other one's.

-

"Really we became friends, just like that?" I asked and Akina thought for a second

"Well at first I really hated you for what you said, but after a while, I understood what you meant," Akina said

"Wow," I said while stared at her hoping some sort of memories would return to me

"After that, we became Best Friends and started telling each other everything." She said happily and I suddenly remembered what happened last night

"Akina I need your help," I said and she looked at me curiously, and nodded

"Sure, what's up."

-

After explaining what happened last night Akina's eyes widened at my words.

"Did you have a secret boyfriend?" Akina accused and I lift my hands on in defense

"I don't know."

She thought for a second before saying "Do you remember what his voice sounded like?"

I nodded at her question

"That's really the only thing I know about him." I said then added, "When I turned to see who it was, he was already gone."

"I have an idea we can try," Akina says with a smile

-Present Time-

"Ok the camera is rolling." I hear Akina tell the boy with orange hair on the video

"Y/NNNNNNN!" He yelled causing me to flinch at him suddenly yelling

"Hurry up and get better, so that way you can practice again with us! It's boring with just Kageyama!" The short orange-haired boy say

"It's not him," I say once the video flickers off

- Flashback-

'"Who is Kageyama?" I ask and Akina laughs a bit before saying

"It's his way or the highway kind of guy, you didn't like him."

"Really?"

-

Akina sighed while she tapped on her phone a bit.

"Akina, who is Kageyama?" I ask once again and she looked up at me

"I told you it's his way or the highway kind of guy, you didn't like him. I think you practiced a bit together, but that was because you were practicing with Hinata." She says and I tilted my head a bit at the new name

"He is the boy we just watched, he's a short middle blocker. Maybe around the same height as you."

"I thought middle blockers were supposed to be tall," I say recalling what Akina had told me about volleyball

"And Aces are supposed to be big and strong, and look at you," Akina said and I sighed

"Who knows if I'm going to be an Ace again," I mumbled and Akina lightly punched my arm

"With my sets, I know you will become an Ace once again." She says with a smile, hen noticed the time on her phone

"I'm going to be late!" She said while she picked up her volleyball bag and quickly ran towards the door

"See you later F/n!"

"See ya!" You say with a small wave before she disappears down the hall.

'Now with everyone gone, I can finally sleep with nobody watching me!' You think to yourself happily while you threw a small pillow at the switch to turn it off before struggling up in your blanket and falling asleep.

-

I woke up to the sound of my hospital door being open.

"What time is it?" I mumbled asked the person who entered my door, and when nobody answered I turned on my side to face them.

My eyes quickly met with a dark blue pair, who looked shocked at me being awake

"Who-" I was about to ask him who he was when he suddenly lifted a finger to his lips gesturing me to be quiet.

I nodded while wondering who he was and what he was doing.

He gestured for me to hold out my hand and when I did he handed me something cold. I flinched a bit from the sudden touch of coldness, and look at what was in my hand.

"Yogurt?" I said aloud while I looked up to find nobody there once again.

For some reason the yogurt made me feel...

disgusted?
