Chapter 15

"It's no fun if you don't try other options once you know they exist." – Yu Nishinoya

"What are you doing?" I hear a voice ask, causing me to drop the ball from my hands

"Um... I am.... What are you doing here Kageyama?" I ask while I hid the ball behind me

"I am heading home," Kageyama said holding up a keyring, and I quickly identified it

"AKINA HAS THE SAME KEY!" I say pointing at the tag that was on the ring.

'215?' I read the numbers to myself, while he quickly shoved the keyring back in his pocket

"We probably just have the same lanyard," Kageyama says and I sigh

"I guess your right, why would Akina have the same key to your house?"

"Yea, that's... silly." He mumbled before asking "Shouldn't you be heading home, it looks like it's about to get dark."

I looked up at the sky and noticed how close the sun was to the setting.

"I was waiting on Akina but I guess she must have left a different way," I say while I started to pack up my stuff, shoving the volleyball into my bag.

"I can walk you home." I hear Kageyama say and I turn towards him

"So that way you can stalk me at Akina's home too?" I tease, and even though it was kind of dark I could still see his cheek turn red

"It's not like that." I heard him shyly say, and I walked right up to him and stared at him.

There was only a couple of inches between us before I asked "Was there something between us?"

He looked at me before a second, before shaking his head "N-no, we were just classmates."

"Then why is everyone trying to make me avoid you like your some sort of disease?" I asked and his face looked shocked for a second

"People are what?" He said while he scrunched up his face

"Both my mom and Akina try and avoid the topic about you," I say while I took a couple of steps so that way we weren't as close.

"At this point, I don't know who I can trust. I feel like everyone is hiding something from me." I admit while I glanced back at him

"Kageyama can you at least tell me one thing," I say and he gives me a small nod

"What were you apologizing for?" He looked down at the ground while I said those words

"Because it was my fault."

"Your fault, for what?" I repeated and he slightly nodded

"Your memory lost." He said and I blinked a couple of time, processing what he just said

"Wait, you know what happened to me?" I ask excitedly and he gave me a small nod

"Its nothing to be excited about..." He said still staring at the ground

"Yea, but you are the first person to say something about it."

"So you don't even know what happened to you?" And I shook my head at his question

"Nope, my mom avoids the topic at all costs, and Akina... she just doesn't want to talk about it." I say then add "I want you to tell me what happened."

He looked up at me and quickly shook his head "That's something you should ask your mom."

"But she's in Tokyo." I pout and he looked at me confusedly

"In Tokyo?"

"Yea, she had to go back to work. Since I don't have my own place I'm staying with Akina and her Grandmother." I answer his question when I felt a drop on water fall on my head

"It's about to rain..." I hear him mumble, while the small gentle drops of water started to become stronger and bigger.

"Come on," I say while I grab his wrist and start running towards the nearest covering, he followed behind me and was willingly dragged along until we got to a bus stop.

"Now I'm all wet," I complain while I let go of his wrist and try to and dry off my hair a bit.

"At least we are still not stuck in the rain," Kageyama says and I nod at his words.

We stood there for a second in awkward silence when some other people started to come to seek shelter from the air.

"Excuse me." I heard a man say to me while he started to shove towards me to make space, in a place where there is no room for him.

Within a second I left someone grab my wrist and pull them towards themself.

"If there is no space, there is no space." I heard Kageyama mumble under his breath while he looked over his shoulder towards the man.

"To think even you can be nice." I tease, drawing his attention back towards me

"Fine, next time I'll just let you get ran over by a sweaty dude." He said and I laughed at him

"There is going to be a next time?" I ask in a questioning tone, causing him to go silent

"Excuse me." I hear a women's voice say and the small space that was in between us quickly shrunk.

"You know." I felt Kageyama's breath hit me as he spoke

"I know a lot of things." I shyly say while I stare at my feet

"What you don't know is you suck at hiding the fact you were practicing on your own," Kageyama said, while his breath sent gave me chills

"I wasn't practicing." I defended myself

"Then whats in your bag?"

"A science project."

"Really?"

"Yes, a science project about volleyball," I said and he started to laugh at me

"Just admit you were practicing."

"Why would I be practicing, I haven't been cleared by the doctors yet."

"Why do you have to be so difficult." He says with a sigh

"Well, what would you do if I was practicing?"

"I would help you."
