No One Escapes the Law…

I'm broken out of my stupor when she questions if she needs to call an ambulance because I was just stood there staring at her like an idiot after her accidentally punching me in the face. "Ah no, I'm fine thank you. Just a bit dazed but that doesn't matter, I was just surprised that such a beautiful woman was knocking on my front door. Sorry, I didn't even introduce myself; I am Nicholas James but you can call me Nick. What's your name, and why is such a lovely lady knocking on my door?" Finding myself insanely attracted to this woman I start to flirt with her using some of the stuff I picked up while out with johnny and some of the stuff he taught me and I can't help but get happy when it seems like it is working and she smiles (to think I was about to be murdered a few minutes ago, I sure forgot about that fast didn't I), she reaches into her jacket pocket and then pulls something out which she then holds out for me to look at. "Police Detective Jean DeWolff, pleased to meet you 'Nick'. I am here to question you about your whereabouts yesterday night, specifically around midnight..."

I am stunned when she pushes a police badge in front of my face because while I obviously expected the police to question me eventually I always thought that it would be after a few days and it would probably be a middle aged detective with a beer belly questioning me and not this stunning bombshell of a woman which is why I was so shocked and surprised when she revealed her identity and her presence here to question me since I was expecting someone else entirely and a few days later and not just a few hours after Laura murdered Zebra Daddy the pimp and my brain freezes since it was so out of the blue and I'm lost for words knowing that I was basically an accomplice to that murder since I was the getaway driver and the law has immediately turned up at my front door, my brain quickly does a reboot since I figure that it would be quite suspicious if I suddenly went silent and shocked after she revealed her official capacity here and so I quickly let out a cough and straightened myself up as someone being questioned would do and immediately go to cease my flirty behaviour seeing that as inappropriate but I quickly stop myself figuring that it would be more suspicious if I were to entirely change my behaviour after her revelation and so while I do straighten up and take a more serious tone I decide to keep some subtle tones of flirting in there to make it seem like I'm not too fussed with her occupation and that I have nothing to hide. "Oh, so that wasn't just regular brutality before when you punched me but police brutality huh? Well then, Detective DeWolff how can I assist you today?"

In response to my words she reaches inside her jacket pocket and pulls out a notebook and a pen before she begins to flip through the pages looking for something flipping back and forth several times seemingly missing her mark before she eventually stops having found the correct page after which she once again reaches into the inside of her jacket and pull out a fancy fountain pen which she clicks with her thumb and then levels it at her notebook before looking at me once more, she takes a quick second to analyse me from head to toe which I wouldn't have spotted if I weren't so observant since she was so quick but I notice since I am on edge even if I don't show it and I'm on the lookout for anything and given the way she's eyeing me at the moment fully analysing me and everything about me it's clear that I am a suspect in this case and this isn't just a regular questioning to eliminate inquiries. "Nothing to worry about Mr James, just some routine questions and inquiries you can help me with. Just last night there was a murder downtown and I am just here to ask you some questions since we believe you were in the vicinity, just covering our bases and making sure we have all the facts before we start arresting anyone. Now while the exact time of the murder is unknown, we have managed to narrow it down to within an hour's period, and within that period we know that you were in the area since you visited a convenience store at approximately 10:24 pm, correct? We just need you to tell us everything you can remember, when you arrived, when you entered the store, how long you were in there, what you bought, when did you leave, did you see anyone else around that sort of stuff. Just do your best to recall, anything would help."

Okay so I'm definitely a suspect then because she just asked me quite a lot of questions with most of them being the same questions just worded differently in an effort to catch me out and she even told me the time that I arrived at the convenience store and yet she asked what time I arrived just to try and catch me out or maybe she even gave the wrong time of arrival just so I try to follow the narrative and end up getting my story wrong just because she said I arrived at the convenience store at 10:24 pm when I could have in fact arrived at 10:15 pm which could make my whole story go out of wack so the best thing I can do is entirely ignore the information she's given me and answer the questions as best I can while being as vague yet helpful as possible, she told me I arrived at 10:24 and then asked me what time I arrived, what time I entered the store, how long I was in the store, what I bought, what time I left the store and if I saw anyone else all of which are trip mines since if I answer a single one wrong then I could break my whole story by giving varying answers such as me saying I arrived at 10:24 pm, was in there for 5 minutes, left at 10:30 pm and I saw no one else which could all be easily destroyed since I added one minute and there could be a number of people who said they were there during the times I gave and yet I've said I saw no one so I have to give the best answers and I believe I have all the possible information needed to do that. "Okay, I'll try and help as best I can. if I remember correctly, I had had a long day at work and was quite tired so I left work at 10:00 pm and I hadn't had anything to drink in a couple of hours so I decided to enter a nearby convenience store, I can't remember the exact time since I was quite tired but you said 10:24 pm which sounds about right since I arrived and entered the convenience store as soon as I got out of my car. I think I was only inside the convenience store for a couple of minutes, couldn't have been more than five and I bought an energy drink since I was quite tired and needed the extra pep to stay awake and drive home. If you said I arrived at 10:24 pm and I couldn't have been there longer than five minutes, then I definitely left the convenience store before 10:30 pm. As for seeing anyone, I think I saw some people when I left the convenience store and I think there was a guy in a purple suit and I bumped into him but I didn't pay it much attention since I wanted to get home as soon as possible and so I immediately got in my car and drove home. That's about it I think, was any of that helpful?"

I immediately answered her questions and played her at her own game since she barraged me with question one after the other I barraged her with answers one after the other much faster than she could write answering all of her questions perfectly with a bit of information while remaining as vague as possible and going of the time she told me and stating I was tired from work and don't really remember too clearly which seems to work out a treat since they already know the time I left the convenience store since they know the time I arrived and they'll be able to figure out that I should have had to leave straight away to get home at the time shown on my CCTV at home which means I didn't have time to kill the purple pimp and since I used my car and went super-fast using alleyways and shortcuts while avoiding CCTV then they should only find my car arriving at this street and if they ask me for a specific route I took home then I could say that I just don't remember since I was tired and I wanted to get home so I was pretty much on autopilot and I don't remember specifically, know all I've got to do is wait for her to ask me for proof or an alibi to show that I got in my car and immediately drove away as soon as I left the convenience store since there is no CCTV on that road and when she asks that I can just hand her my CCTV footage and when she tries to corroborate it with the neighbours on this street and a couple of blocks away then it will prove my innocence since I wouldn't be able to feasibly get here in that time if I didn't immediately leave the convenience store. "Very helpful Mr James, just a couple more questions now. We have found the same energy drink you purchased at the convenience store, and we know it is the same because we checked with the convenience store, we found it laying on the ground near the dead body with some of its contents spilt all over the ground and with a little bit still inside the bottle. You'd think someone would remember spilling a bottle that they had just purchased but you made absolutely no mention of it, why is that?"

I remember now when I first saw Laura an I completely missed the Asian pimp trying to bump me out of the way which resulted in him being pushed back instead, instead of reacting aggressively straight away like I assumed he would when I realised the situation he instead took the opportunity to look me up and down seemingly searching for something before he decided to act and he slapped the drink out of my hand and to the floor where it poured out its contents all over the ground and I didn't even get more than a sip out of it and as I stared at the contents of my drink pouring out all over the ground I heard a click and when I looked back up I got the full view of a muzzle pointing in my face and the hand holding it belonged to the pimp who was staring at me with a stoic face still seemingly looking for something in my expression, that's how this whole situation started with that pimp trying to shove me and instead settling for knocking my just bought drink to the ground and know the fucking thing is coming back to bite me in the fucking ass. "Huh, didn't I mention that? I immediately started to drink my energy drink as soon as I left the convenience store on my way to the car and I wasn't paying much attention and ended up with that guy bumping into me and shoving me out of the way and making me drop my drink which spilt over the floor, I had already drunk a bit out of it before it spilt so I was a bit more energised but I was still tired so I just ignored the incident and got in my car and drove away leaving my drink on the ground."

"Well then, I am afraid I can't overlook this then. We all have to follow the law Mr James, it's time you answered to it." I worry that I've messed up somewhere and got caught out because after saying so she reached behind her for something, presumably a gun...
