Unqualified to give advice

Clara pushed the door of the private room.

The room was spacious enough and filled with warmth. There were no windows giving people full privacy. Beautiful indoor plants gave a cozy feeling, but what grabbed Clara's attention more was the figure sitting there.

She was drinking coffee and was deep in thoughts. But her attention was disturbed by the movement near the door.

"How long are you planning to stand there?" Evelyn inquired, keeping her cup down. Her black eyes gazed directly toward Clara.

"Ohh," Clara made her way through. They both were dressed casually, looking youthful and fresh. No one would know what they talked about, but anyone who saw them would think it was a brunch date between friends.

"Sorry, I ordered first." Evelyn shifted the menu toward Clara.

"It's okay," Clara ran through the menu and quickly ordered.

An awkward silence filled the room. Clara wanted to talk, but she was unsure of where to start. She felt that her every move was carefully observed by Evelyn.

Clara suddenly remembers Evelyn's small book from last time, and her face became red.

'But I should say something, right?'

"You look so young."

'Let's compliment her age, and then proceed to smoothly open up' this was Clara's strategy. It was a great plan.

'Every girl likes to be complimented.' or so Clara thought.

"Are you hitting on me now?" Evelyn laughed. Her starry black eyes watched Clara in amusement.

This was a first for Evelyn. Usually, people would say, "Hello, it's been a while" or "How have you been?" but, here Clara was complimenting her.

"What, no, of course not" Clara waved her hand. She was nervous. It has been so long that she talked with Evelyn that she forgot.

'She must be laughing at my IQ.'

'Maybe it goes below kindergarden level in her book now.' Clara sighed.

"Enough with formalities, let's talk business." Evelyn crossed her legs and looked at Clara with a firm gaze.

They have dinner time to catch up and discuss their emotions. Now what Evelyn needed was a clear understanding for strategizing her further moves.

"I want to do what we discussed last time," Clara was never this sure in her life.

She wanted to change but in a good way.

"Are you sure?" Evelyn confirmed. After making a decision, there was no going back.

"Yes," what other choice did Clara have? She was ready to sacrifice her relaxed life and move on the road of hardship. "I have been working in the company to gain a proper understanding."

"And I want you to stop doing that now." Evelyn's eyes narrowed, her hand tapped on the table.

"Uh?"

"It was nice working with you, Mr. Knight,"

"Same here," Alexander made a firm handshake. A smirk lingered on his face.

While walking through the corridor, he saw Mr. Sheldon's assistant waiting outside a door. Nowadays, he usually followed Clara around, helping her understand how to deal with people.

'Clara is nearby?'

'And what is he doing outside?'

Alexander's eyes settled upon the room behind the person. Making his way, he wanted to open the door directly but was stopped.

"Miss Sheldon is in a meeting."

"Meeting?" Alexander was curious. It has been days that he had talked with Clara.

'Maybe I should just say a quick hello and leave.'

Alexander's hold on the handle was firm. Just as he was about to turn the knob around, but he heard the voices getting louder on the other side of the door.

"and Alexander also s..." Clara's voice was clear, She even sounded happy. But her words were cut off.

"Alexander Knight?" Alexander's hand on the knob tightened. His long and powerful fingers trembled.

He halted his movement. He knew this voice. The impression this sound made on him was vast.

"Yes"

"Never listen to him in regards to your field."

"Uh?"

"An arrogant, cruel, and impulsive person like him is unqualified to give you any advice."
