For Now

Evelyn stepped outside the company.

Her hand was occupied with her phone as she frowned, gazing at the contents.

As she was passing through the lounge, someone halted her.

In the lounge, Kyle was waiting for Evelyn. He needed to meet her today even though that suggested sitting here the whole day.

He has only seen her once, but she left a long-lasting impression on him. He will not mistake someone else for her.

"Miss Day?" As Kyle saw a figure walking through the lounge, his voice left his mouth before his body could react.

Evelyn's step halted as she heard her some. Confused why the person is not speaking, she turned around towards the person who called her.

"Yes?" Evelyn asked as she looked straight into the eyes of the person.

His face was cold and emotionless. His face was sharp, and his eyes sparkled as he looked into Evelyn's eyes.

"I want a few minutes of your time." Kyle was confident in himself. No one could ignore him.

Now that he was standing in front of Evelyn, Kyle was sure she would spare some time for him.

"Get an appointment," Evelyn replied blankly. She could see the thought process going on in Kyle's head.

Kyle has dressed well today. He was in a business suit with his hair properly led back with a smirk gracing his face.

Many young ladies, passing through, looked at him with sparkling eyes. Some of them were turning back just to look at Kyle a little longer.

"I would love to, but," Kyle's looked at the reception area as if accusing them of stopping him.

"You are?" Evelyn already knew the answer, but she wanted to hamper his ego, which was overflowing from his expressionless face.

Kyle's smile slipped, but he soon recovered. He was used to things going his way, but Evelyn was different. She challenged him without fear, which spiked his interest.

"I am Kyle Black." The confidence in Kyle's voice was commendable. He extended his hand towards Evelyn.

"Oh, Mr. Black Jr." Evelyn took Kyle's hand in a firm handshake, "But we have no relation with your company."

"For now."

"You look confident, Mr. Black," Evelyn smiled as she took her hand back.

" Give me your 10 minutes. Maybe, I could change your decision." Kyle smiled, giving an illusion of an angel.

"Okay, follow me up" Evelyn wanted to know what Kyle could say. She can imagine the content, but she still wanted to find a way to get back at Black's.

They both turned around and walked towards the elevator.

Many eyes were following them till the elevator door was closed. But seconds before the door closed, Evelyn's eyes met with Alexander's.

On the other hand

'Ring-Ring'

"Miss Clara, take your phone outside." Clara's supervisor narrowed her eyes in irritation.

Clara nodded her head as she walked out of the door. She looked down at her phone, where there was a string of numbers.

Clara was confused as to who would call her at this time. And an unknown number on top of it.

Very few people knew her number, so who would this be?

"Hello," Clara's voice was low as she strolled out.

"Clara?" the other voice was doubtful.

Clara knew this voice very well. Her eyes sharpened as her every nerve tensed.

"May I know who is speaking?" Clara still spoke softly.

"I am her friend" Layla's words were followed by a brief pause, full of hesitation, "Can I speak with her?"

'Friend?' Clara laughed. Her so-called friend could not even identify her voice now.

"I did not get your name. Can you repeat it?"

Layla was shaky. Maybe if she gave her real name, then Clara would cut her phone without even hearing her out. But if she gave her a false name, then won't it be more problematic.

Layla made a decision as she said in a low voice that could be overlooked for a whisper.

"It's Layla."
