Eyes On Me

Evelyn walked out of the conference room.

There is going to be a new project coming up, and the company needs to decide whether or not to invest in it.

There was a tremendous discussion which stretched to hours with no result. The group was divided into two groups. But the ultimate decision was in Evelyn's hand.

Evelyn had a headache. The project was Alexander's for which he had visited prior. Considering the present situation Evelyn was in with Alexander, she was confused.

Her heart wanted to invest, but her mind was in a constant battle with her heart.

Evelyn groaned and took out her phone to check any messages or calls. She had a habit to keep her phone silent during meetings to minimize the distraction.

Evelyn looked down and saw there were a few messages from Clara on it.

'Evelyn, let's meet.'

'I need to talk with you.'

'Why are you not answering?'

'You seem busy.'

'Reply once you are free.'

A smile formed on Evelyn's face. Clara truly was a child. Evelyn saw the time and replied,

'Let's meet for dinner..'

'Okay, where?' Clara replied within seconds. Evelyn could not help but laugh. A few of her employees stared at her face in surprise.

Evelyn was known to be a frozen faced boss. It was a rare scene to see her laugh so freely.

Evelyn glanced at the mumbled. She narrowed her eyes, and soon the voices died down.

Evelyn looked at the message and pondered for a while. It was time for dinner, anyway. Evelyn typed the address and got ready to move.

When Evelyn entered the chosen place, Clara was already sitting there in her original look. Her glasses and lenses were removed. Her freckles were replaced by her natural skin, and her makeup was lightened up.

Clara looked refined and elegant. She transformed from a duckling into a swan.

"Finally, I got a hold of you," Clara shouted in excitement.

"I was not lost, just busy." Evelyn giggled. A smile rested on her face, looking at Clara's enthusiasm.

"Always busy." Clara pouted. Her visits to Evelyn's house were reducing as her workload was increasing.

"It seemed you missed me a lot, darling." Evelyn sat down opposite Clara, "What's the good news?"

"Your predictions was true." Clara's finger trailed around the rim of her drink, "Layla called me to meet her."

"Hmm" Evelyn nodded. It was a predictable move which bored her, "What did you talk about?"

"Same old. Nothing else," Clara said indifferently. She sipped her drink with a plain face.

"I am more interested in what happened after the meeting?" Evelyn asked as she rested her face on her hand.

Evelyn's questionable look made Clara blush. Her face was covered in red. Evelyn giggled, seeing the reaction on Clara's face.

'A simple question made her this red.' Evelyn was excited. She wanted to tease Clara more.

"What happened, nothing happened." Clara's voice trembled. Her mind was drifting towards last night's event.

"Really?" Evelyn asked.

"Really," Clara said. She refused to meet Evelyn's eyes.

"I wonder why this is so difficult to believe."

"What do you want me to say?" Clara was certain, Evelyn knew a lot of things by now. Clara could imagine her face now covered in red.

"Try telling me the truth." Evelyn cupped her face. She was ready for story time.

Clara giggled. Her friend was interested in her love life. Clara also wanted to share this with Evelyn, but was unsure how to bring up the subject. Now that Evelyn has asked this, Clara was more than happy to share.

She recollected the previous night. Layla's was long back forgotten from her thoughts.

Beautiful ambiance, starry night, and an understanding person formed a never forgetting memory.

After the diner, Oliver offered Clara to eat a bar of chocolate. Clara being a chocolate lover would never say no to such an offer. Her mouth was watering just thinking about it.

What Clara did not know was that the chocolate would be handmade, and that they were the ones who would make it. There was a small shack near their dining place for this.

Clara was very anxious, she has never tried to make anything ever. Clara's mind drifted towards the chocolate that Evelyn made last time. Thinking about it made Clara's stomach grumble.

'If only Evelyn has been here.' Clara thought. 'She could make one for me now.'

"What are you thinking about." Oliver's voice brought back Clara from her yummy dreams.

Clara shook her head. She looked too engrossed a minute ago, but now her head was swinging in full speed. Oliver laughed and held Clara's chin in place.

"Are you afraid?" Oliver asked.

Clara looked into Oliver's eyes. He had a mature air surrounding him, making everyone present agree in response.

Clara nodded her head. She was afraid. She had never made anything. The fire frightened her.

"What if I get burned? What if it tastes bad? What if you vomit it after eating it?"

Oliver chuckled. Clara was simply too cute for him to get angry.

"It's okay." Oliver held her hand and moved towards the small kitchen, "I will make it. You are only responsible for eating."

"Really?" Clara became energetic, "You are not joking around. Are you?"

"No."

"But I should help you." Clara looked at their interlocked hands. She wanted to eat, so she should be responsible for making it.

Even though Clara had zero experience in cooking, she still wanted to help. She wanted to contribute too.

"Just watch me make something for you. That would be an immense help from your side." Oliver winked at Clara, "Keep your eyes on me."
